1 Final Cut Pro Final Cut Pro is a sophisticated video-editing program made by Apple. It is the editing software of choice for multimedia journalists using Apple computers, and is comparable to Adobe's Premiere video editing program. Final Cut Pro does not make a version for Windows. Hide the dock before starting Apple Menu Dock Turn Hiding ON Make Folder for your FCP project with Assets Subfolder If you move your assets, FCP will be unable to locate Opening Final Cut for the first time Applications Final Cut Pro On the first launch of Final Cut Pro, youʼll be presented with a choose setup window. Choose the format youʼll be working with and the codec that matches your footage. (If you do not know, itʼs ok. Final Cut pro will adjust itʼs settings to the first piece of footage you put in your timeline. It will match all other pieces of footage to this one) For today, choose Format: NTSC Rate: Use: DV-NTSC Anamorphic (North American, widescreen) Choose a Scratch Disk Location. Select the main system drive since that is what we have in the lab. (If you want to go faster in the future, you could select a firewire hard drive) Choose do not show again when it tries to look for device You will not see the choose setup window again To make changes after this go to File Cut Pro Easy Set up To change scratch disk location, choose File Cut Pro System Settings Save Project Final Cut Pro creates a new project when you open it for the first time. Once you save your project, Final Cut knows where to save everything File Save Project As Title your project, etc Adjusting Essential Preferences Final Cut Pro User Preferences Change: Levels of Undo to 35 (The larger you make this number, the more ram)
