A GenePool connection via Sam is not supported for 64bit Pablo Rio This release does not support a 3 rd party video i/o card. More news on this and 4K output support will follow shortly. 3 Copyright March 2013 Pablo Rio 64bit application Pablo Rio is now a full 64bit application allowing the machine to address the full 32GB of ram installed. This provides for greater stability and performance. Note: Plugins will need to be upgraded to their 64bit versions please see the appendix at the end of this document. Up to 4K bit real-time playback support off local workspace on turnkey systems Disk and CUDA performance on Pablo Rio have been significantly improved allowing real-time playback of up to Preliminary details of what is possible with both 1 and 2 Tesla machines are in the charts below. Final specification details will be confirmed before release. 4 Copyright March 2013 The output resolution used for the previous table is HD 80 or 2K(80) except at 50 and 60 when it is HD 720. Output sizing is performed in the GPUs so as other output resolutions are supported in future in the output hardware they can also be supported in the system. Export support for P2 Clips can be exported as MXF wrapped P2 files with a choice of DVCPro and AVCi bit rates as shown below. P2 Export Exporting as P2 will write back the same folder structure as on a P2 card. Class 0 and Class 50 AVCi encoding also added for MXF (default mode) export MXF AVCi files can be exported under the default menu as shown below. Neo Grade button now goes into MLTFX not Effects The Neo grade button now takes the user into the MLTFX Colour menu. A shift+grade button press will now take the user into the Effects Colour menu. Colour Ranges highlights to show which ones are active Previously it has not been possible to see if any of the grade parameters for ranges (simrange, shadow, midtone, highlight) have been adjusted. If any parameter has been the changed it will now be highlighted white 0on the Neo, Neo Nano panel and blue in the UI as shown below. 4

5 Copyright March 2013 Colour Aperture separate R,G,B channel defocus and sharpen There are additional red, green, blue check boxes available allowing the defocus or sharpen of individual R, G and B channels. The default is all turned on. Full auto render and MLTFX render bin for background rendering A render bin is available for background rendering of both MLTFX and Effects effects. This means that multiple or different versions of effects can be queued for rendering. Simply drop the clip into the render box or onto the render box button. Whilst rendering the render box button will be highlighted yellow. The render result will go back into the set folder or if no folder is set, back into the folder the original clip came from. In addition to the render bin there is an additional F1 Auto Render setting called full. When this is selected then the MLTFX timeline will render in the background whenever a parameter is changed. Priority is always given to any foreground play with the background render being paused. 5

6 Copyright March 2013 Sony F65 soft mount F65 files can be soft mounted providing additional functionality on the edit timeline and within the color corrector. To soft mount F65 simply check the box in the import menu. This will then soft mount the media at its current location rather than importing into local workspace. All of the import debayer functions with the exception of the bit depth precision can now be accessed directly from the timeline. Simply right click / alt + tap on the timeline to access the F65 settings menu. Any of the above parameters can now be changed live on the timeline or during a grading session. Playback of soft mounted F65 files will not yet playback in real-time this will be addressed in a future release. One advantage of soft mounting multiple F65 files allows them to be easily conformed. More details on working with Sony F65 files can be found here: Upgrade to Sony sdk that will now support Sony F55 and F5 cameras The Sony sdk has been updated so the that import of files from Sony s F55 and F5 cameras is supported. Note: This does not yet support the XAVC format. 6

7 Copyright March 2013 Import Canon C500 support The Canon C500 raw file format can now be imported. A debayer menu is provided via Canon s sdk with the options shown on the left. The Downscale dropdown allows rescaling of the source data as follows: 4k imports as: full size, half size, quarter size, quadhd, HD an SD QuadHD material can be imported as: full size, half size, quarter size and SD. The other sizes can be achieved by: full size = quad HD, half size = HD The Debayer option provides two quality choices. High quality will be slightly slower. Profile allows the user to select from a choice of input colour spaces: Canon Log, Canon Rec709 and Canon Wide Rec709. All colorimetry is defined by Canon. continued 7

8 Copyright March 2013 White balance provides choices on processing the raw data: From recording will use the camera metadata to set the white balance. From Colour Temp sets the white balance to the value in the Colour Temp number box. Daylight and Tungsten are preset values. WB gain sets up 4 number boxes to allow the user to tune the red (R), green1 (G1), green2 (G2) and blue (B) coefficients to their liking. Tint provides another control on colour for the users preference. Exposure allows the user to change the current exposure values in stop values. Sharpness controls the application of an internal sharpening process. All these controls act on the preview display to aid and confirm settings prior to import. F1 menu Rendered play updates GUI There is an additional F1 menu setting that when checked will allow rendered player updates in the GUI. This is in addition to turning the vid button in the bottom right of screen off. continued 8

9 Copyright March 2013 Video stretch render format choices Video stretch on the Desktop now provides a choice of render formats. Previously it would always render to the format of the first video segment in the selection. The choices are: Output format whatever the bottom right output format is set to 1st segment the default and will render to the format of the first video segment in the selection Clip render format this will use the MLTFX render format box There is a third text information box displaying either "CUT (from F1 menu)" or "BOX (from F1 menu)". If more than one video segment is to be stretched and they have different formats (resolution or aspect ratio), a warning, "Stretching multiple video segment formats", is presented. continued 9

10 Copyright March 2013 Appendix Updating Plugins to 64bit All plugins must be updated to 64bit. Information from VDS Contact: 1. Customers must have an up to date Synapse Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA). 2. Update all their plug-ins (eg, BCC, Sapphire) to the latest version, if they're not at that version already. Note: The Tinderbox bundle will not be supported for 64 bit (Genarts are not doing any further updates to this product). Please download the following two installers from our FTP site: Synapse_Entry_Level_Installer_9_0.zip Synapse_Platinum_Installer_9_0_Q64Bit.zip The first is for installing Synapse and Sapphire, and the second is for installing all other plug-in bundles. Please consult Synapse_Installation_Guide.pdf, sections and section 3g, for instructions on installing Synapse and the Sapphire plug-ins, using Synapse_Entry_Level_Installer_9_0.zip. For installing other plug-in bundles (such as BCC and RE:Vision), please use Synapse_Platinum_Installer_9_0_Q64Bit.zip. Please refer to Synapse_Installation_Guide.pdf, sections and section 3 for full instructions. Once you've completed installation, please run echoid.exe in your Synapse folder: C:\Program Files\\GenQ Plugins 4.2\DLL_Data\VDS\Synapse\ and provide VDS your locking code so we can generate your Synapse license.
