19 Precautions This section explains important points and limitations you need to be aware of when using ImageMixer 3. Precautions If recorded and/or edited content includes copyrighted works created by third parties, be sure to use them for personal use. Use an AC adapter to power a notebook computer. Use the compact power adapter to power the camcorder. Connect the camcorder and the computer directly with a USB cable. Operation using USB hubs is not guaranteed. Do not put the computer in Standby mode when a camcorder is connected. Read-protected data and copy-protected data cannot be imported. Do not operate other software while writing a disc. You cannot use PIXELA software that came bundled with a different Canon camcorder with the camcorder with which this version (ImageMixer 3 SE Ver.6) was bundled. 19

20 Operating limitations While ImageMixer 3 is running, do not switch user accounts and do not set the computer to Sleep, Hibernate or Standby mode. If the computer is configured to automatically enter a power saving mode after a certain period of time, change the Power Options in the Control Panel in advance. Unicode is not supported in ImageMixer 3. Even if video recordings are in a supported format, you may not be able to use them depending on the recording method. You cannot use ImageMixer 3 when connecting two or more camcorders to the computer. You cannot use ImageMixer 3 SE Player Ver.6 and ImageMixer 3 at the same time. When playing back a disc using ImageMixer 3 SE Player Ver.6, playback will not seem smooth during fast playback (forward or backwards). System folders, Windows-only folders, the root directory C:\ and optical drives cannot be selected as the saving destination for the Library (P.49) or for exporting files. When saving a video file as a new file using ImageMixer 3, the picture quality of the new file will be lower than that of the original. In multiple trimming, you can set up to 20 trimming ranges for a clip. Video preview in the edit screen may not be played back smoothly depending on your computer's configuration. During video editing, the titler displayed on the preview screen may be distorted depending on the computer. This is not reflected in the edited content. Discs created with ImageMixer 3 may not be played back on some players. When using a rewritable disc, erase the recorded data with ImageMixer 3 before writing. If you do not combine files when creating a disc, the joining points between chapters may not be played back smoothly. Also, if you combine the files, and multiple titles are created, the joining points between titles may not be played back smoothly. When playing back an edited video file, noise may occur depending on the video file or the joining scenes of the clips. Applying fade-in/fade-out effects on the clips just before or after the noise may solve this problem. Edited videos cannot be used for the camcorder's [Video Snapshot] and [Face Detection] functions. Disc writing cannot be performed if the Windows file system is FAT32. ImageMixer 3 may not operate correctly when a disc writing software other than ImageMixer 3 is installed. In this case, we recommend not to use multiple disc writing applications at the same time. When erasing data on a rewritable disc, the progress bar may not be displayed correctly for some drives. 20

21 While a disc is being written, do not start any operation that may access the hard disk designated as [Workspace]. If any free space on the [Workspace] hard disk is used for any purpose other than creating the disc, the creation of the disc may be interrupted. If other programs are set up to automatically receive files and save them on the [Workspace] hard disk (download files from the Internet, receive , update antivirus profiles, Windows Update, etc.), close those programs or set them up so files will not be received and saved automatically. You cannot export videos that were recorded in a video format or video system different from that of the camcorder. It may cause the malfunction of the device to which the videos are exported. When handling videos in x.v. Color, which were recorded using the camcorder with which ImageMixer 3 is bundled, note the following limitations: - x.v. Color is not applied to videos that were recorded in MXP mode and then written on a disc in AVCHD standard. - When editing videos, x.v. Color is not applied if you use a video with different video system or different resolution of the project. - When editing videos, if you set a titler over videos recorded in x.v. Color, x.v. Color is not applied while the titler is being played back. Disclaimer regarding the YouTube upload function When using the YouTube upload function, the number of videos uploaded per hour may be restricted according to YouTube specifications. Also, full operation cannot be guaranteed for future modifications of the YouTube specifications, or for every environment. Refer to the following Web site for the latest information about operating limitations. 21
