All copyrights to the Software are exclusively owned by the Author, Tek'it Audio. All rights not expressly granted here are reserved by Tek'it Audio. Installing, copying, or using the Software signifies acceptance of the terms and conditions of this License Agreement. 10 Welcome Thank you for choosing MScontrol, Tek'it Audio professional Mid/Side control utility. MScontrol offers stereo signal encoding into mid side signal, decoding of mid side signal into stereo signal and "onboard" mode to adjust the mid/side channels gain, panning and flip the phase without the need of using two plug in instances. MScontrol comes with MIDI automation support, a preset manager, the possibility to undo your changes. We hope you enjoy this software, and create great music with it. Please, take the time to read this manual and learn how to exploit all the features of your new plug in. 13 Installation

14 Requirements Below you will find the minimum requirements for running MScontrol. Windows 2 GHz or higher with SSE2. 2GB RAM or higher. Microsoft Windows 10, 8, 7, or Vista. 1280x800 screen resolution or higher with 32 bit color. VST 2 or VST 3 compatible host. Audio interface with ASIO driver support recommended and minimum 44kHz samples rates. To use the automation a Host with automation features and for MIDI learn a MIDI interface and an external MIDI control device is required. macos Intel CPU. 2GB RAM or higher. macos 10.7 and latter. 1280x800 screen resolution or higher with 32 bit color. Audio Unit, VST 2 or VST 3 compatible host. CoreAudio compliant audio interface or built in audio hardware. To use the automation a Host with automation features and for MIDI learn a MIDI interface and an external MIDI control device is required. 13

15 Upgrading From an Earlier Version If you are upgrading from an earlier version there are some important things to remember before installing the upgrade: From version 2.x Uninstall the previous version before installing the upgrade. From version 1.x Presets are not compatible with version 2.x. Version 2.x can be installed and used alongside v1.x. If you are using this version in important project do not uninstall it. Running the Installer 1. Locate the file called "MScontrol Installer.exe" on Windows, "MScontrol Installer.pkg" on macos and double click it. 2. Follow the on screen instructions. You will be asked to choose the desired plug in formats and an install location. 3. Run your host software and load MScontrol. Consult your host documentation for information on how to do this. Windows: Our un installer keep your system clean, all the files are deleted and there are no entry left in your Windows registry. 14

17 Operations and Concepts

18 What is Mid/Side? Mid/Side work by decoding a stereo (Left and Right) signal into two components (Mid and Side). The Mid channel get together the information in both the left and right channels, and the Side channel get together the information that varies between the left and right channels. MScontrol MScontrol can be only used on a stereo track as an insert effect. 17

19 Control Types While using MScontrol, you will find that many parameters have similar controls. Popup Menu Appears on a left click on a text or an icon to select a value. Switch A two position switch, click on it to change the position. Knob To Turn a knob, click it and when drag upwards to move the knob to the right, drag downwards to move the knob to the left. For hight precision control use Ctrl+Mouse. Double click on it, reset it to the initial value of the preset. Fader To move a fader, click it and when drag to the right or to the left. Or use your mouse scroll wheel. For hight precision control use Ctrl+Mouse. Doubleclick on it, reset it to the initial value of the preset 18

20 Preset Manager Manage Preset And Bank Open the preset manager popup menu. Save Preset Save the current preset in a file. Save Bank Save the bank of presets in a file. Load Preset Load a preset on the current preset. Load Bank Load a bank of presets. Preset Change Change the current preset, left to previous and right to next. Alternatively you can also use the Mouse Wheel. Current Preset Name Display the number and name of the current preset. Right click on it to rename the preset. Press Enter to validate. 19

21 Preset Selector Display a pop up menu with all the presets in the current bank. Click on one to select it as the current preset. Save Save all the parameters state to the current preset. Undo All Undo all changes and restore the current preset to his initial state. 20

22 Mode MScontrol can be used in three different configurations. The mode switches changes the processing mode used. Encode Convert input stereo channels (left/right signal) into output mid side signal. Decode Convert input mid side channels into output stereo signal. Onboard Encode, use the internal processing and then decode. Below this represent a typical configuration to process mid side signal with your effect processors. Channel Swap Swap the left and right input channels. Bypass Bypass all the internal processing. The sound out is the same as the sound in, leaving the sound unaltered. 21

23 Mid/Side The mid and side channels features the same controls. Gain Change the gain of the channel from to 12dB. Pan Adjust the stereo panning of the signal from left to right. This control is deactivated in Encode mode. Mute Mute the channel when the switch is on red. Flip Phase Invert the phase of the sound before the amplification stage. Peak Meters MScontrol comes with a peak meter for each channels. The meters are calibrated to use the Digital scale. 22
