2 1. In the movie, I created a podcast of a member saying the names of each routine. I incorporated voiceover in Garageband rather than in Imovie because I could better control the volume and edit the sound. For example, I could cut out unwanted background sounds in Garageband, and I would not be able to use these techniques in Imovie. Also, I could record several podcasts in one file, so it was easier to insert into the movie. After the podcast was finished, I exported it as a MP3 into ITunes and placed it into the title slides of the movie. Putting the song file first into ITunes compressed the music, and MP3 is the most common audio format. Adding podcasts of members on the step team also created a more personal touch to the movie.

3 2. Another advanced technique used was editing music in Garageband. I added music so that while photos and PowerPoint slides played in the movie, there could be background sounds. I choose to edit the music in Garageband because I could manipulate the sound by editing out inappropriate words and gradually fading the music out. There were some inappropriate words in the music for the movie, so I cut them out of the songs. When there was an inappropriate word, I faded out the music in Garageband so that the movie was appropriate for the step team. I also used Garageband to fade music out so that it could run smoothly with the pictures in the movie. To do this technique, I inserted the song into Garageband from ITunes. Once the song was in Garageband, I clicked the track volume button, and then I was able to manipulate sound and volume. This allowed me to control where I wanted the music to fade out and to remove the inappropriate words from the songs. This technique allowed me to have background music during the PowerPoint slides and photos.

4 I also edited the music to fade out after 30 seconds of the song in order for the music to run smoothly together. I could only use 30 seconds of the songs because of copyright policies. After editing the music sound, I exported the song into ITunes and placed it into the movie. I exported the Podcast first to ITunes in order to save the sound as a MP3, the typical format for audio files.

5 3. Another technique used in this project was creating my own template in for the PowerPoint slides. To do this, I started with a basic black layout. After I added a red square shape on top of the black background. I changed the color of the red box by making the red a lighter color and transparent. I created my own PowerPoint slides because none of the given slide backgrounds on Microsoft PowerPoint incorporated Inimitable Step s colors: red and black.

6 This is the final product of the background of the PowerPoint slides. I created my own PowerPoint template in order capture the essence of the step team. The team s colors are black and red, and there were not any templates on PowerPoint that contained these colors. As a result, the PowerPoint slides reflected the Inimitable Step team. 4. Another technique used in this project was implementing multiple PowerPoint slides. After creating the template, I created four PowerPoint slides including the definition of inimitable, the step team roster, Ms. Ortner s , and instructions on how to step. After creating these slides, I saved each as a JPEG file. I saved the slides like this format is the easiest way to insert them into the movie, and these images can be manipulated quickly without loss in image quality. 5. One important technique used in the Imovie was the manipulation of videos that I recorded. I edited the videos by cutting off videos at certain points. I did this because at the beginning and end of some of the videos, there was excess noise that needed to be eliminated.

7 Here is one example of video editing: I edited the videos within Imovie by fitting the video. If I did not do this, parts of the videos would not be seen in the movie. This technique allows all members to be seen within the movie rather than if I did not edit the videos. I did this so that the members watching the movie could see all the steps in the routines, and it created a movie with better quality. When I edited pictures, I cropped them and added Ken Burns effects so that the pictures would have movement. This creates a more interesting video rather than if the pictures had no movement. I did this to create a more visually pleasing movie.

8 I also turned down the volume in the videos in Imovie because the sound was too loud. To do this, I went to audio adjustments and turned the audio to 75% rather than 100%. This allows better sound quality in the videos, and the stepping now will not hurt members ears when watching the routines. 6. Another technique used in this movie was adding transitions between title slides and videos. I added transitions to create a more visually pleasing video for the step team members. These transitions create movement within the movie, and the transitions also indicate when one video ends and the start of the next video.
