Application via OSIRIS Incoming Students Introduction Getting started in OSIRIS We are pleased that you have decided to apply for a privately funded Master s programme at Utrecht University (UU). With this manual, we guide you through the necessary steps to complete your application at Utrecht University. This instructions manual is intended for students who have obtained their relevant degree outside the Netherlands 1. The application procedure is divided into two parts: Part 2. 3 1. Create a new account by clicking on If you don t have a username/password, click here. 2. Enter your personal details exactly as they are printed in your passport or on your identity card. 3. Select Privately Funded Master. 4. Click on Create account. An with your login information will be sent to your address. 1. Select the privately funded Master s programme for which you wish to apply. 5. Enter your address details. Step B. Add new enrolment 2. Select Full time as the programme type. 3. Select the place of study. Important: You need to confirm your account by clicking on the link in the . Please confirm your account before continuing your application. Please note: the may have been automatically forwarded to your spam folder. 4. Select the academic year for which you wish to apply. 5. Select the starting date of September 1st. Some programmes have a second start on February 1st. To see the starting dates, please go to the relevant Master s programme website. 03

4 Step C. Previous qualifications Enter your secondary school qualifications and higher education qualifications. You have to add at least two qualifications (e.g. high school and Bachelor s degree). Enter the details of each qualification: 1. Select the country in which you studied. 2. Select the name of your study programme. Step D. Send in application After you have completed step C, you will be asked a number of questions. Please respond to them and/or tick the appropriate box. After completing the questions, you need to send in your application: 3. Select the town/city in which you studied. 1. Check whether all details are correct. 4. Select the name of your educational institution. 5. Enter the (expected) exam date as dd-mm-yyyy. > You can add a second qualification by clicking the button Add qualification. 2. 6 Frequently Asked Questions What is a certified copy? A certified copy is a photocopy of your original diploma or transcript, carrying an official stamp and signature from the university that issued the original document. Please take a look at the animation about certification on our website Can Utrecht University process my application based on just my digital documents? Unfortunately not. We can only start processing your application once we have received the certified hard copies by post. These hard copies are necessary because we need to check the authenticity of your diploma and transcript, before we can evaluate your qualifications. What is an official translation? Translations must be made by a sworn translator. Translations by other parties, for example a lawyer, are not accepted. In exceptional cases, we accept translations from the British Council, but always check first with the International Office (admissionsoffice@uu.nl). When should I hand in my language test results? If you need a visa, we must have received proof of proficiency in English and/or Dutch (if applicable) before May 15th for a start in September and before November 1st for a start in February. If you do not need a visa, you have until the starting date of the programme. When must I apply for the Nuffic certificate? Applicants from China must apply for a Nuffic Certificate. The Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) will not process Chinese visa applications without this document. Frequently asked questions 06

7 Contact information Apply for the Nuffic Certificate at the same time you apply for admission at Utrecht University, otherwise your application cannot be processed. You can find more information and apply for a Nuffic Certificate online at: Can I get my documents back? Unfortunately not. All documents you send to us become the property of Utrecht University and will not be returned to MYDOCUMENTS you. So do not send originals. Make extra copies for yourself, if necessary.
