1 Urban Forest Cloud: for Tree Checkers (best viewed in Google Chrome; or Safari on ipad) Registering for an Account Each group member can create an Urban Forest Cloud account (with username and password). Multiple accounts can be created for a Tree Tenders group. 1. Click link: Click: Manage Your Project 2. Click Request an Account 3. Enter a username, your , and a password you will remember. (Your will only be used for account verification) 4. Select Tree Checker Group in Select a Role drop-down menu. (If you are the Group Leader, select Tree Tender Group Admin ) 5. Select your Tree Tenders group in Select an organization to join. 6. If your Tree Tenders group is not in the drop-down list, click Request that a new organization be created and enter the requested information. 7. Click Register 8. Your account will be approved within a few days and you will receive a notification . (Text Dana at if you need immediate approval) Log In 1. Click Manage Your Project or Log In 2. Log in with your username and password. 3. Trees in your Tree Tender area will pop up on the map.
2 Navigating to Trees Zoom to a location with one of the map navigation tools (upper left corner of map). Find Your Location using device s gps by clicking the Target icon Search by address using the Globe icon (just be sure to type Phila at the end of address). You can also search (filter) by Tree ID to find a tree on your worksheet. Enter the exact Tree ID and apply filter. Be sure to clear filter when finished. (note- zoom out to find point) Displaying Trees In the Legend, click the dropdown Display by. Select Season and view the trees planted over last 2 seasons (e.g. Fall 2016 and Spring 2017). Or Display by Mortality Statas to view Unchecked trees. (then used the advanced filter to filter data by Season Planted to see only trees for current Tree Checkers program)
3 Updating Tree Checkers Information 1. Click tree point. 2. Use Site ID and Location notes (Details > Site) to confirm tree location. Street View is available for desktop use to confirm tree location. 3. Click Details button 4. Click Tree Checkers tab. 5. Enter required fields (with *) A. Use Site tab in the details popup to enter Site ID, location notes, etc. B. Optional: Add Photos (do this last as it sometimes closes out of the details window after uploading photo) 6. Record your name or initials in Last Inspected By and select the date checked in Last Inspected pop-up calendar. 7. Click the Save and Close button at top of popup to save the data. 8. Click the next tree to be checked. 9. Repeat process. NOTE: Never delete a tree that is dead, missing, or not planted. Note status in Mortality Status and include any comments in Comments/Actions area Updating Maintenance and Site Information 1. If needed, update Site ID and Location Notes in Details > Site. 2. If Tree Checkers group performs maintenance actions (mulching, pruning, pit care, removing 3. ties, watering), record date in Details > Maintenance tab.
4 Moving Tree Points 1. If necessary, you can move the tree to the accurate location by following these steps: A. Click Menu B. Click Move button to turn on. C. On tablet or phone, tap tree point then tap the location to which you want to move it. You may have to give a hard tap if nothing happens. D. On laptop or desktop, click and drag tree point to the new location. E. Click OK when prompted Do you want to move this point? F. Click Move button to turn off. 2. If there are multiple trees at one address, they may be stacked on each other. In the initial tree point information tab, this will show under Tree ID as 1 of 4, or however many trees are stacked at that address. Menu
5 Adding Tree Points WHEN TO ADD A NEW TREE POINT: If you know it was planted at an address different from what is on your Tree Checkers worksheet. If you want to track non-tree Tenders trees. 1. Click Menu 2. Click Add button to turn on. 3. Click location where you want to place tree. 4. Click Details and open Site tab to enter correct address and Site ID. Add any location notes necessary. 5. In the Tree Checkers tab add Season Planted and species data if you know it. 6. Fill in Tree Checkers info. 7. Select Planting Program in Details > Admin > PHS Program. Select Tree or TreeVitalize Philadelphia. 8. Click Add button again to turn off. Important Notes and Reminders: FIRST: Verify you are editing the correct tree using Tree ID, Site ID, Address, and Location Notes. Tree Checkers will use the following tabs in the details panel: Site, Tree Checkers, Maintenance (optional) Do NOT edit Address/Street information. Only update Site ID and Location Notes if needed. Move tree points if they are stacked on top of each (multiple trees at same address).
6 Add a new tree if it was planted at an Address different than what is on your Tree Checkers worksheet, or if you want to track a non-tree Tenders tree. Never delete a tree that is missing or not planted (note status in Mortality Status and include any comments). If tree is dead, don t record Circumference or site conditions (weeds, mulch, water). Ignore Check Ties/Stakes if not useful to your group. Record maintenance actions in the Maintenance tab. If app freezes, refresh your browser or logout/login.
