2 1 Telecom Paging Services This section includes the prices for paging products and services available from Telecom. 1.1 Paging Network Charges Network charges are incurred on a monthly basis, and are based on the geographic coverage required for a pager. The boundaries of the geographic zones are as described in the current coverage map available from Telecom. The monthly access fee will depend on how much the customer plans to use the pager, and where the customer intends to use it: National: The customer receives paging messages wherever they are in New Zealand. Island: The customer chooses whether they want to receive messages in the North or South Island. People can send messages from anywhere. Metro: The customer chooses whether they want to receive messages in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. People can send messages from anywhere. 3 MEssage Me is a service which provides an operator who answers calls made to your pager (eg. Welcome to John Smith s message service, may I take a message ), takes a message then sends the message as text to the screen of your pager. MEssage ME Direct - MEssage Me Direct is a service which enables you to send a text message straight from a computer to the screen of the pager. To do this you will require the appropriate software and a modem. 4 1.2 Pager rentals If the customer rather rent than buy a pager, Telecom offers the customer either numeric or alphanumeric options to go with the customer s chosen pricing plan: Numeric: (including insurance) Alphanumeric: (including insurance) $14.57 per month $24.44 per month 1.3 Other Benefits of a Pager The pager is there to make the customer s life easier. Extra benefits of a pager: Faxing/Posting Messages: Ideal when the customer needs a printed copy of your message. Daily faxing Weekly posting $18.80 per month $9.40 per month Message Retrieval: Telecom store messages for one monthly. If the customer wants to recall a deleted message; Message Retrieval service will do it. Retrieval up to 2 weeks $9.40 per message Retrieval 2 weeks to 1 month $37.60 per message Group Calling: Group Calling is only available to alphanumeric pagers it allows callers to dial one master number and leave a message, which is then sent to every pager within that master group. 5 1.4 Network Access Charges Callers can access pagers; The Message Centre and Voice Mail connected to the Telecom Paging Network via a number of methods e.g., the PSTN, Telex network, Packet Switch network. All connections to these networks must pay the appropriate Telecom network access charges for the type of connection they are using. See Telephone Services and Special Services. 1.5 PSTN Call Charges Calls to the Telecom Paging Message Centre, Voice Mail or to a pager connected to the Telecom Paging network from a telephone connected to the PSTN anywhere in New Zealand, are charged at the following rate: Charge per call $0.088 Calls to a Telecom 0800 number (see Special Services section.1 Telecom 0800 ) terminating on a Telecom pagers are charged at the following rate. The calls are free to the caller and are charged to the Telecom 0800 customer. Charge per call $0.15 Note: Calls to Telecom 0800 numbers are charged per second after the first minute.
