1 Greek Council Minutes - 8/31/17 Meeting start at 7:00pm Senator: Timothy Graves, LAU Office Hours: Fridays, 1-2pm TG129 Executive Board There is a new VP for student life, Tomas Aguirre! His open office hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-4pm. The Activity Fair is on Saturday, September 16 th from 2-6pm Alternate Senator: Keiana Mancuso, UDE Office Hours: Tuesdays, 2-3PM KM198 Rush Chair Lauren Connell, OXO LC123 MEET THE GREEKS IS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH FROM 4-6PM! Arrive at 3:45 for early setup. Send 3-4 of your best representatives to be in charge of your tables from 4-4:45. It will create minimal crowding and make the whole process less intimidating for potential interests. 4:45-6PM is when the rest of the organization can be there. BBQ food will be served instead of pizza and every organization is encouraged to set up an interactive component at their tables in order to get to know their interests. At 5pm each organization will have the opportunity to share information about their organizations and to stroll if desired. 2 Community Service Representative Dianne Roebuck, ZDT Office Hours: Tuesdays, 1-2pm DR141 The night time Signatures class is willing to give students and greek members community service hours to volunteer to help out the small class this semester. There is a binder in the community service office where everyone can go to learn about upcoming events. Regalia is open if any organizations would like to work it this semester! Go to OCCE office if interested. Secretary Leslie Almanzar, SOE Office Hours: Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30pm LA105 Treasurer: Jessica Lis, ZDT Office Hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 12:30-1:30pm JL113 Come to her for POs or if you have any questions. Vice President: Alex Sanchez, UDE Office Hours: Mondays, 10-11AM AS266, Welcome back! President: Joseph Cannova Jr, BKX Office Hours: Mondays 3-5pm & Thursdays 12-1pm JC196 Come to him if you have any questions or feel free to text him or hit him up on any social media. He will be coming into everyone's chapter meeting to hold a quick three question survey called Change for The Better about greek life, how it is, how it can progress with time, and outlooks. Give him your president's name, meeting time and location if you haven't already done so.

3 Advisor - Joliana Hunter-Ellin Office Hours: Monday- Friday 9am-5pm hunterjc@delhi.edu Phone: Rosters with the new board members are due next Thursday the 7th. Joli will be holding two sessions on the new Greek Council Standards Program to clarify any confusions. They will be held on Tuesday the 5th and Thursday the 7th at 5:00pm in Okun Theater. The program if officially in full swing so make sure to look it over if you haven't already! Send Joli your intake (pledging) spots by September 6th! Official Intake Dates and Deadlines: Greeks are now welcomed to expand their 4 week process to 5 weeks if desired! INTAKE DATES: DAY 0: THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12TH DAY1: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13TH 4 week intake deadline: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 10TH 5 weeks: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH Joli will be letting you know about bid roster and hazing prevention information soon. Greek Council roster: once they are sent to Joli, she will look over the grades of board members to ensure everyone is meeting academic requirements. If your board members are not reaching the minimum, vote and replace them before sending in your roster! Look out for drop offs in your mailboxes in the Student Activities office. The SUNY Delhi website is finally updated! Once Joli learns how to work the new website, she will put up the new greek council minutes. For Recruitment/Rush Week, All apparel and flyers must be approved by Joli! There are new reservation forms, meeting forms, and events forms created which are much easier and less hectic. Go check them out in the Student Activities office! POS are being signed out which makes no sense so stop getting them done before the event is approved. For those who have signed out POs, Joli will not sign them off till the event is approved in the system. KOI and LIU were the greek week winners and they won $50 gift cards so go pick them up. Congrats!

Standards and Traditions Chair: Nick Lane, KSE Come join my committee! Community Service Chair: Dianne Roebuck, ZDT if you want to be on the committee. Recognition and Retention Chair: Alex Sanchez, UDE Come join my committee! They go over things like updating constitutions. Finance Chair: Jessica Lis, ZDT if you want to join, they go over requests for money, it's not just all finance. Old Business Other

5 New Business DOE: How do we go about allocating more money for events? You can request funds from e-board and finance committee will review it. Or go to senate.. Joli suggests to come to e-board first though and then we will go to senate. We have limits on what we can give out so if worse comes to worse, fundraise! If you present allocation, make sure it is for a good purpose! Announcements The women s golf coach wants to know if there is anyone interested on being on the golf team! Go to E-Tower 109 if you re interested or contact Tom Philion. Blood Drive is next Friday, September 8th from 11am-5pm. Donate some blood or come help with distribution! Come out and support the LAU X SOE Yard show on the 7 th from 6-8pm between Gerry & Dubois! Joe is on the campus voice and they want to utilize it for advertisements! Go under campus voice under student activities on the website to submit advertisements! It s free to post and if you do anything, they have a greek page that they can post your events and community services on. Open Discussion New semester yet Joli has to repeat that this is your greek council!! Every decision and everything is by US so if no one joins committees and gets involved, then there will be no allocations and that s not cool. Don t just go to Joli during her office hours, use your greek council E-board members office hours to help out too. Make the council what you want it to be instead of saying it sucks and wishing it was something else. More clubs want to throw events with greeks so please try to throw events with the clubs to include them more. Reach out to them! Give Joe your weekly meeting times.
