1 AFN Setup Each version of Outlook is set up in the same general way. Some of the screens may have a few variations to them but they all should have the same options. Outlook 2007 and 2010 are very close so you will find their instructions together. Outlook 2003 has a few screens that are different so a separate set of instructions for its set up are below the 2007/2010 instructions. If you have any trouble setting it up please contact the Help Desk by at helpdesk@afncorp.com. Outlook 2007 and Click on the Start Menu 2. Choose Control Panel a. Windows 7 i. Look for a Mail icon. If you don t see that look at the top right for a drop down menu that says View By. ii. Click on that and choose Small Icons. iii. You should see a Mail icon now, if so Double click it. iv. If not look for an icon that says show 32 bit applications or something along those lines. b. Windows XP i. Look for a Mail icon, if you don t see it then look at the left side of the screen for a link that says Switch to Classic View. Click that link. 3. Double Click the Mail Icon. a. If there are no accounts set up follow these instructions.
2 i. If there is no profile listed in the box click the Add button. ii. For Profile Name just enter AFN and click OK and go to step 4. b. If you already have an account follow these instructions. i. Click on the Accounts button. ii. Click on the New button.
3 iii. On the Choose E- Mail Service screen click Microsoft Exchange. 4. In the Auto Account Setup page check the Manually configure server settings box. 5. Click Next. 6. Select the Microsoft Exchange radio button. 7. Click Next. 8. In the Microsoft Exchange Server line enter afn- exch01.afncorp.local.
4 9. In the User Name line enter your first initial and last name. 10. Click on the More Settings button. a. If you have not set up a profile before this you will get an error box that says The action cannot be completed. Click OK on that box. b. Click OK on the Microsoft Exchange box. 11. Click on the Connection tab. 12. At the bottom of that window you will see an Outlook Anywhere section. Check the box that says Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP
5 13. The Exchange Proxy Settings button will activate when you check that box. When it does click on it. 14. The cursor will be flashing in the line with before it. In that line enter exchange.afncorp.com. 15. Click OK. 16. Click OK. 17. Click the Check Name button. 18. In the Username line enter afncorp\username (remember your username is just your first initial and last name all as one word. DO NOT USE YOUR ADDRESS AS YOUR USER NAME 19. Enter your password in the Password line. The default password is afncorp. 20. Click OK.
6 21. Click Next. 22. Click Finish. 23. Click OK to close the Mail window. 24. Open Outlook from the Microsoft Office folder in the start menu. 25. You will end up with another login box. Your username should already be there. If not put in the same info that you did in step Enter your password in the box. 27. Click OK. 28. Outlook will now open up and start synchronizing your . a. If this is the first time you are using Outlook then there will be some questions that pop up. The first is the Privacy options. Just keep it the way it is and click Next. b. The next question has to do with Microsoft Update. Normally we do not have it automatically download updates but this is your decision. Choose the option you want and click Finish. c. If an RSS Feed box pops up click No on it. d. If the Junk Mail box comes up just click Close. 29. At the bottom you will see a green bar indicating your computer synchronization. Depending on how much you have this could go away in minutes or hours. It is creating a local copy of all your so this just takes a little time. 8 ii. Select the View or change existing e- mail accounts option. iii. Click Next. iv. Click on the Add button. 4. Choose Microsoft Exchange Server. 5. Click Next. 6. In the Microsoft Exchange Server line enter afn- exch01.afncorp.local. 7. In the User Name line enter your first initial and last name.
9 8. Click on the More Settings button. a. If you have not set up a profile before this you will get an error box that says Outlook could not log on. Click OK on that box. b. Click OK on the Microsoft Exchange box. 9. Click on the Connection tab. 10. At the bottom of that window you will see an Outlook Anywhere section. Check the box that says Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP. 11. The Exchange Proxy Settings button will activate when you check that box. When it does click on it. 12.
