Key-in WHEELS AND AXLE ASSEMBLY for the filename and press ENTER. B. Insert Truck Assembly. Step 1. Click Insert Components Assembly toolbar. on the Step 2. Click Browse in the Property Manager. Step 3. Select your TRUCK ASSEMBLY file and click Open. You might have to change Files of Type to All Files to view the assembly file. Step 4. Expand Truck Assembly and click Right Plane, Fig. 9 and Fig. 10. Step 14. Click Add/Finish Mate in Mate pop-up toolbar to add a Coincident mate. Step 15. Click OK in the Property Manager. Step 16. Save. Use Ctrl-S. D. Enable SOLIDWORKS Motion. Step 1. If necessary, turn on SOLIDWORKS Motion. To turn on SOLIDWORKS Motion, the flyout of Options the Standard toolbar and click Add-Ins. 7 J. Duration 1 second Step 1. Set the Motion Study duration to 1 second on the Timeline. To change duration, in the top Timeline drag the Key at 5 seconds to 1 second, Fig. 23. Drag Key from 5 seconds......to 1 seconds K. Suppress Mates. Step 1. Expand Truck Assembly in the Motion Manager design tree and expand Mates in Wheels and Axle Assembly, Fig. 24. Step 2. Suppress first 4 Mates, the Path to Ground Mates. To suppress the Mates, click the first Mate, then hold down the Shift key and click the last Mate. Release the Shift key, right click Fig. 23 and click Suppress from the menu, Fig. 24. We used the Mates to align the Truck to start position on the Track. The Mates have to be suppressed for Truck to move. Later, we will unsuppress the Mates to realign Truck back to starting position. Step 3. Save. Use Ctrl-S. 10 O. Suppress Wheels. Step 1. Move Plot1 window out of the way. If you close, Plot can opened from the Results folder. Step 2. Rewind Motion Study to 0 seconds. To rewind, either drag the Play Head back to the beginning in the Motion Manager toolbar or drag the Time Bar, the gray vertical line back to 0 in the Timeline, Fig. 32. It s good practice to rewind before you make changes in the Timeline, otherwise you could create unwanted Keys. Fig. 32 Step 3. Suppress Wheels in the Feature Manager. To, suppress Wheels, click the first Wheel in the Feature Manager, then hold down the Shift Key and click the last Wheel. Release Shift key and click Suppress from the menu, Fig. 33. Step 4. Click Right on the Standard Views toolbar. (Ctrl-4) Step 5. You can see the truck is above the Track, Fig. 34. We will use a Mate to bring Truck to Track, then Cancel Mate. 11 P. Truck to Track. Step 1. To Mate, continue as if creating Mate, allow Mate to bring parts together, then instead of clicking OK Mate, click Fig. 35 Cancel Mate. This will set Truck on Track and we will not have to find and delete the Mate. Step 2. Click Mate on the Assembly toolbar. Step 3. Rotate view to view bottom face of Truck Body as shown in Fig. 35. To rotate, hold down middle mouse button (wheel) and drag. Step 4. Click bottom face of Truck Body, Fig. 35. Fig. 36 Step 5 Click Isometric on the View toolbar. (Ctrl-7) Step 6. Click top face of Track 6, Fig. 36. Step 7. Click Yes to update affected Keys, Fig. 37. Step 8. Click Cancel in the Mate Property Manager, Fig. 38. Unsuppressed Mates brings Wheels up tangent to Track 6. Step 3. Suppress the 4 Mates. To suppress the Mates, click the first Mate, then hold down the Shift key and click the last Mate.
