3 1.0 How it Works DIGIOP allows you to configure Custom Queries that allow for quick access to a relevant data point. These queries can be built by Administrators in DIGIOP Control. For more information on Custom Queries, please refer to the latest version of the DIGIOP Control Manual. Not only can you build a Custom Query for a quick search on relevant data points, but you can also build a Rule and Action that utilizes the Custom Query. Therefore, when the event hits the database, DIGIOP can be configured to perform an action such as Record in alarm mode, send an or text, or trigger an I/O. This document will outline a couple examples of how you can leverage the Rules Engine to take actions with a Query. 2.0 Configure Video Loss to Trigger an I/O DIGIOP provides all customers with some system event notifications under Recorder Events. Therefore, anyone can build a Custom Query off of any items available under the Recorder Events. 2.1 Create Video Loss Custom Query 1. Select the data server and click the New button in the upper left corner of DIGIOP Control. 2. Scroll past the Data Streams that appear on the right hand side and you will see the link to add a New Query. Technical Tip: Building Rules and Actions Utilizing a Custom Query Page 3
4 3. Build your Query. Query Name - Provide a name that will be easy for you to identify the data used in the Query. For our exampe we will use Video Loss. Primary Device Category - Drop down and select your data stream Recorder Events Add Condition - This allows you to create the conditions for your Custom Query using Boolean logic. Click the Add Condition button and fields will populate that pertain to the previously selected data device. For this example, select EventId = Video Off. Technical Tip: Building Rules and Actions Utilizing a Custom Query Page 4
5 4. Click Save. You should see the new query populate under your Data Server Icon as a magnify glass, as the example shows below. 2.2 Create Rule 1. Now we need to create a new Rule. Go back and highlight the data server and select the New button once again. 2. Scroll past the Data Streams that appear on the right hand side and you will see the link to add a New Rule. 3. Build your Rule. Name - Provide a name that clearly identifies the Rule. For our example we will use Video Loss Rule. Schedule - When you want the Rule to be active. When - The data event that triggers the Rule. Select the previously created Custom Query Video Loss. On These Devices - Filter devices for triggering the Rule. Create New Action - Drop down and select the Action that you want the Rule to perform Recorder/Camera Digital Output and select New. 6 2.3 Create Recorder/Camera Digital Output Action 1. Build your Action. Name - Provide a name that clearly identifies the Action. For our example we will use Video Loss Notification. IO Device - Select the IO you would like to use either from an IP Camera IO or from Built in Capture Card. We will use Built in Capture Card. Output Number - Select the output you want to trigger. We will use 1. Output Value - Active/Inactive. We will use Active Alarm Duration - How long the alarm will last. We will use 10 Seconds 2. Click the Save button. 3.
