1 Setting up your first Nucleus device Follow 1. Plug Nucleus into power using the included DC adapter or Power over Ethernet (PoE). If you're connecting with standard etherent, plug in the ethernet cable as well the power cord. 2. Nucleus will start up and check for an Internet connection. This may take a while the first time, so give it a few minutes. If you're connecting with etherent or PoE, skip ahead to step 5.

2 3. If you'll be connecting using Wi-Fi, a list of available Wi-Fi Networks will load. Tap on your network.

3 4. If your network is secured with a password, you'll be prompted for it on the next screen. Enter it using the on-screen keyboard. Tap Show to reveal the password as you type it. Tap the white arrow in the blue circle (the Enter key) to proceed. 5. Nucleus will now check for software updates and install them. Depending on your Internet connection speed, this may take a few minutes. Nucleus may reboot during this process as well. Please do not disconnect from power during this process.

5 6. Once the updates finish the Welcome Tour screens will load. Check out these screens to get a good overview of Nucleus - you can swipe between them or tap the on-screen arrows to progress though the Tour.

10 7. On the Let's Get Started screen choose the first button, Create a Nucleus Account. 8. Enter your address. Make sure you use an address you use regularly, as we'll use this to send s about updates, to confirm adding new devices to your account, and to get in touch with you if you contact us from your Nucleus device. Tap the

11 Enter key to proceed.

12 9. On the next two screens, enter your First Name and your Last Name, tapping the Enter key to progress.

13 10. Create a password. You'll need this to adjust some key settings on Nucleus and to log into the mobile app. Passwords must be at least six characters long, include at least one letter, and at least one number or special character. Tap Enter to proceed, confirm your password and tap Enter on the next screen.

15 11. Next is the safety stop where we verify the address you gave us. To verify that you have access to the address you entered, we'll send you an . Check your and click IT'S REALLY ME! in the the body of the message we send you. If you don't see the message, check any spam or junk folders. You can send a new verification by tapping RESEND ,

16 and you can edit the address you entered by tapping EDIT ADDRESS. 12. Your Nucleus device should automatically progress to the next screen once you verify. Now you'll need to Create a Family Name. This can be anything you like, and will be how you're identified to other families when you send invitations from your account so

17 we suggest using something simple and recognizable like "The Kardashians". Tap the Enter key to proceed.

18 13. Enter a Room Name. This will be how this Nucleus device shows up on other devices it's connected to. This can also be anything you'd like, but we suggest using the name of the room it will be in for simplicity. Tap the Enter key to proceed.

19 14. You'll now be asked to take a Room Photo. This is the image other devices will see next to the Room Name. Tap Take a photo. 15. The camera screen will load. Line up the shot, then tap the camera icon to take the photo. It will count down to zero and then take the photo so you've got time to set up the shot. Tap the checkmark on the right to accept the photo, or Retake on the left to get a new photo. You can take a new photo at any time, so don't worry if it's not perfect.

22 16. You'll see your Room Photo above the Room Name. Tap Next in the upper-right corner to proceed.

23 17. The next step is to set up Alexa, Amazon's voice assistant, if you'd like. Tap Sign in with Amazon to start the process or tap Skip in the upper-right corner to move forward. You can always set up Alexa later in Settings.

24 18. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the address and password you use for your Amazon account. You can tap on each field to go between them. Tap Sign in when finished.

25 19. As it's your very first time setting up Alexa on a Nucleus device, Amazon will prompt for permissions to let Nucleus use your Amazon account. Tap I agree to proceed. 20. The next two screens show how to use Alexa. We advise downloading the Alexa mobile app to set up additional Alexa features. Tap Next, then Done to finish setup.

28 21. Congratulations! You've set up your first Nucleus device! You'll see some callouts on the Home screen walking you through the Do Not Disturb, Privacy, and Settings buttons. Tap through these to learn how they work and to dismiss them. Now that your first Nucleus device is good to go, you'll get an with your Home code. You can use this to set up your other Nucleus devices. You can also set up the Nucleus mobile companion app on your Android or ios mobile device.
