1 SEARCH & APPLY FOR TEMPORARY HIRE APPLICANT POOL Overview This step-by-step guide demonstrates how to apply for the Temporary Hire Applicant Pool as an external applicant. External Applicants are individuals not currently employed in a regular full or part-time position at Fresno State University. All Student Employee are also considered external applicants. 2 View Job Openings This section demonstrates how to view job openings without logging into the system. The Fresno State Jobs page 1. Go to the Fresno State Jobs webpage. (jobs.fresnostate.edu) 2. Click the New & Returning Applicants link. The Careers page Notes: Basic Job Search and Login boxes display at the top of the page. Current job openings display at the bottom of the page. 3. Scroll down to view all job openings. Note: You can filter your job search by clicking Faculty, Management, or Staff hyperlinks. 2
3 All open job postings display. 4. Click the Temporary Hire Applicant Pool hyperlink to read more about this specific job. The Job Announcement Note: To save the job or apply for the job, you must be registered and logged in. See the following sections for steps on how to register and apply. 5. Click the to Friend button to share this job announcement with someone else. 3
4 The Send dialog box 6. To: Enter the address of the person you wish to send the announcement to. 7. Your Name: Enter your name. Note: The Subject and Message will default, but you may override them. 8. Click the Send button. 9. confirmation 4
5 Job Search This section demonstrates how to search for openings as an external applicant. The default search on the Careers Home page is the most effective way to search for jobs. The Careers Home page 1. To search current job openings, click the Advanced Search hyperlink. The Job Search page 2. Enter search criteria. 5
6 Job Search Criteria 3. Click the Search button. 6
7 The Job Search Results display. 4. Apply Now: If you wish to apply for the job now, click the Apply Now button, and then complete your online application. 5. Save Jobs: If you wish to save this job search, click the Save Jobs button. The Save Search page 6. Complete the Save Search section. Name: Enter the name of the search. Notify: Select this checkbox if you wish to be notified of new, matching postings. Enter an address where the notifications can be sent. 7. Click the Save Search button. 7
8 Save Jobs This section demonstrates how to save a job in order to come back to and apply for it later. The Job Postings display. When viewing Job Postings, you may save a job by selecting the corresponding checkbox to the left of it. Click the Save Jobs button. The My Saved Jobs page Note: You may navigate to this page from any other page inside Careers. To apply for a saved job, check the box next to it. Click the Apply Now button. 8
9 Register and Apply As mentioned in the previous section, you must be registered and logged into the system in order to save a job or apply for one. This section demonstrates how to create a login, create your profile, apply for jobs, and save jobs for future application. Register The Fresno State Jobs homepage 1. Go to the Fresno State Jobs webpage. ( edu/adminserv/hr/jobs) 2. Click the New & Returning Applicants link. The Careers page 3. Click the Register Now link or the click here to Register link for all external applicants. 9
10 The Register page 4. Complete the Registration Information section: User Name: Enter a username for yourself. Password: Enter a password for yourself. Confirm Password: Re-enter the same password again to confirm. 5. Click the Register button. The Careers Home page 6. Click the My Profile hyperlink. The My Profile page Note: You may navigate to this page at anytime to change your password. 7. Use your scroll bar to navigate down and complete each section of the page as described on the following pages. 10
11 The Member Information section 8. Preferred Method of contact: Use the dropdown menu to select preferred method. The Name section 9. Complete the Name section: First Name: Enter your first name. Last Name: Enter your last name. Note: All other fields in the Name section are optional. The Address section 10. Complete the Address section: Address 1: Enter your street address. City: Enter your city. Postal: Enter your zip code. Note: All other Address fields are optional. If your address is in another country, the Address fields may display in a different format. 11
12 The Addresses section 11. Complete the Addresses section: Primary Type: Use the drop-down menu to select type. Address: Enter your address that corresponds with the type. Add Another Address: Click this hyperlink to add additional addresses. The Phone section 12. Complete the Phone section: Primary Phone Type: Use the drop-down menu to select your phone type Phone Number: Enter your phone number that corresponds with the type. Add Another Phone Number: Click this hyperlink to add additional phone numbers. 13. Click the Save button. 12
13 Begin Application The Careers page 1. Click a Job Title hyperlink for the job you wish to apply for. Note: In this example we have selected Temporary Hire Applicant Pool 13
14 The Job Announcement 2. Click the Apply Now button. The My Profile page 3. Click the Save button. Note: Use your scroll bar to navigate down and complete each section of the page if the sections have not been completed. 14
15 The Complete Application page 4. You may click the Save for later button to complete application at another time, Submit button if application is complete, or Close Application button to go to the Careers home page. 5. If additional information is required to complete application scroll down to continue. 15
16 Applicant Attachments 6. You must click Add Additional to add any attachments needed to complete the application which include but are not limited to Resume, Letter of Reccommendation, Cover Letter, etc. Note: You may also click Attach which denotes all attachments that are required for the application. In this example the Resume is the only required attachment. 7. Once the file is chosen, click Upload. 8. The uploaded attachment will display under Applicant Attachments. 16
17 Work Experience 9. Use your scroll bar to navigate down to the Work Experience section. 10. To add employment history, click the Add Work Experience hyperlink. The Add New Application/Add Employment History page 11. Enter Employment Details: Enter required (*) and optional employment details. 12. Save & Add More: To add additional employment history, click the Save & Add More button. 13. Save & Return: When you have no other employment history to add, click the Save & Return button. The Work Experience section 14. Use the scroll bar to navigate down to the Education History section. 17
18 Education History The Education History section 15. Highest Education Level: Use the drop down menu to select education level. 16. Click the Add Post- Secondary Education History hyperlink. The Add New Application/Add Post- Secondary Education page 17. Enter all applicable information. 18. Save & Add More: To add additional education information, click the Save & Add More button. 19. Save & Return: When you have no other education information to add, click the Save & Return button. 18
19 The Education History information 20. Use the scroll bar to navigate down to the Licenses and Certificates section. The License or Certificates section 21. Click the Add Licenses and Certificates hyperlink. Note: This section is only required when a job posting requires a license. The Add New Application/Add License or Certificates page 22. Enter applicable license or certificate information. 23. Save & Add More: To add additional license and/or certificate information, click the Save & Add More button. 24. Save & Return: When you have no other licenses or certificates to add, click the Save & Return button. 19

Note: This section is optional, as job postings do not require applicants know additional languages. The Add New Application/Add Language page 27. Enter applicable language information. 28. Save & Add More: To add additional languages, click the Save & Add More button. 29. Save & Return: When you have no other languages to add, click the Save & Return button. 20
21 The Apply Now/Complete Application page 30. Languages have been added. Use the scroll bar to navigate down to the References section. The References section 31. Click the Add Reference hyperlink. The Add New Application/Add Reference page 32. Enter required (*) and optional reference information. One reference is required per application. 33. Save & Add More: To add additional references click the Save & Add More button. 34. Save & Return: When you have no other references to add, click the Save & Return button. 21
22 The Apply Now/Complete Application page 35. Use the scroll bar to navigate down to the Referral Information section. The Application Questionnaire section 36. Complete the Application Questionnaire section 37. Click Yes or No for each question provided. 38. Use the scroll bar to navigate down to the Referral Information section. The Referral Information section 39. Complete the Referral Information section: How did you find out about the job? Identify whether or not you are a former employee. Are you a former employee? If you answer yes, you will be required to enter the last day of employment. 22
23 View and Submit Application The Apply Now/Complete Application page 1. To see a summarized HTML view of your application data, click the View My Application hyperlink (Optional). 2. To complete your application, click the Submit button. Note: If you do not wish to submit the application at this time, click the Save for later button. 23
24 The My Applications page displays 3. Please select the Disability Self Identification and Veteran Self Identification hyperlinks to complete application. The Self-Identity Disability page 4. Please select one of the following options listed below indicating disability status. 24
25 The Self-Identity Veteran page 5. Please select one of the options listed below indicating your Veteran Status. 6. Click Continue, or if you do not wish to submit your application at this time click the Cancel button. The Terms and Agreements sections 7. Select the I agree to these terms option. 8. Click the Submit button. 9. The application process is now complete. 25
