81 Screening for Permanence The following criteria should be used for determining when a file is selected for permanent retention and forwarded to the Maryland State Archives. A case in the Supreme Court of the United States A case when judgment/settlement was in excess of $1 million. A class action suit A capital case Any case or file considered to be of archival value for the history of the State of Maryland.
82 Screening for Permanence Screen annually and destroy material that is no longer needed for current business with the following exception: Transfer to the Maryland State Archive for permanent retention any material that serves to document the origin, development, and accomplishments of the office and has continuing administrative, fiscal, legal, or historical value.
