8 Online NEM Application Process The general online application submission process is: Contractor logs in to the online application portal Contractor completes the online application and uploads supporting documents, then submits Pepco sends the customer an advising the application is ready for their online review and approval Following the link in the , customer logs in to Pepco s My Account page Customer clicks on the Requested Work icon in the upper left box Customer reviews the application, agrees to the Terms and Conditions and the application, and submits The system calculates and sends the contractor an invoice for the application fee The application proceeds through the approval steps. Customer and contractor can log in and monitor progress through their personalized NEM Dashboard, 24/7 Pepco issues an Authorization to Install. Contractor installs the system Contractor logs in and completes Application Part 2 Customer logs in to My Account and approves Application Part 2 Pepco completes final process steps and sends customer and contractor an Authorization to Operate 8
9 Online NEM Application Process Workflow First step: Contractors educate your customers in advance that soon they will need to approve their NEM application through Pepco s My Account As part of your customer sales and education, provide the customer with this Customer Approval of NEM Applications guide downloadable or printable from 9

11 Online NEM Application Process Workflow To start a new application online, contractors and self-install customers will go to pepco.com/gpc Follow the online interconnection application link, or In the Nav column, under Net Metering and Small Generator Interconnections, select Apply for Interconnection 11
12 Online NEM Application Process Workflow To start a new application online, contractors will either click Login if a returning user or Register if a firsttime user 12
13 Online NEM Application: Login or Register To Login, contractor enters username and password. Or if you have not yet registered, click Sign Up Now 13
14 Online NEM Application: First-Time Users Create a New Account Contractor creates a username that is between six and 25 characters long It may contain upper and lower case characters, numbers, and the following special _ Enter an address This will be used to receive communications from us such as retrieval of forgotten username or password or password resets Select Contractor from the Type of Use drop down menu Type the verification code Image verification is a security measure used to prevent computer programs from creating accounts 14
15 Online NEM Application: Create a New Account Click Get Access Code to continue your registration process. The system generates your access code and sends it to the address provided on the previous screen 15
16 Online NEM Application: Create a New Account Check your to retrieve your access code Return to the Create a New Account screen and enter the access code First-time users enter your organization name Companies with multiple locations should include a location in the organization name to differentiate between sites, ex. Solar Inc - Wilmington or Solar Inc - Baltimore) The organization name has a 100 character limit Organizations can create logins for multiple employees (Solar Inc Baltimore - Jerry White, Solar Inc Baltimore - Jo Blue, etc.) 16

18 Online NEM Application: Create a New Account Choose an authentication image. Click Continue This image will be displayed each time you log in, as an additional security measure to verify you are entering an authentic PHI website 18

20 Online NEM Application: Create a New Account Contractor returns to Apply Online screen at pepco.com/gpc and selects Login Login and enter your username Your security image will appear to confirm you are on an authentic, secure PHI website Enter your password and click Continue 20

23 Online NEM Application: New Application Contractor selects a PHI utility Pepco, Delmarva Power or Atlantic City Electric for the premise location Select a state for the premise location Select the type of application Initial or Addition/Upgrade Click on Next 23
24 Online NEM Application: Customer Information Contractor enters the Customer of record s legal name for the NEM application Fill in the mailing address street, city, state and ZIP Code Hint: use the customer s name and address exactly as listed on the customer s Pepco bill Note the blue arrow near the top of the screen indicating you are in the Customer Info section of the application 24
25 Online NEM Application: Customer Information Contractor enters the customer or Authorized Agent s telephone number and address Fill in any alternate project contact details contact name, street, city, state, ZIP Code, day and evening telephone numbers, fax number and address Click Next Next automatically saves any information added Use Save if you have to log out before completing an application in its entirety 25
26 Online NEM Application: Facility Information Contractor enters the Facility street information Use the Unit No box to indicate if there is a quadrant (ex th Street NW) In cases where there is a unit number AND a quadrant, enter both in the unit box (ex. NW, #104) Enter city, state, ZIP, nearest cross street Use information from a prior Pepco bill to enter the utility account number, meter number, energy supplier, and current energy consumption 26
27 Online NEM Application: Level and Estimated Service Date In the Requested Procedure section, contractor selects which application level is appropriate for this interconnection request Note the online portal currently only processes Net Meter generation Contractors seeking Cogeneration and Small Power Production should use the appropriate paper application forms Select the estimated commissioning service date Click Next 27
28 Online NEM Application: Confirm Facility Address and Pepco Account Number Contractor reviews the facility address and Pepco account number for that address If you need to change any information, select No If all the information is correct, re-enter the Pepco account number for the facility address and select Yes Confirm 28
29 Online NEM Application: System Information Contractor chooses an Energy Source, Prime Mover, Nameplate Rating (kw), Nameplate Voltage (Volts) If applicable, enter the Open Circuit Voltage and the Rated Current (Amps) If applicable, enter the Short Circuit Current (Amps) Enter the Generator (or PV Panel) Manufacturer, Model # and Rating 29
30 Online NEM Application: PV System Information If PV panels will be used, fill in the Type of Tracking, and the Shading Angles at East South, and West (separated by commas) Enter the AC System Design Total Capacity (in kw and kva) Choose Inverter Type Enter Inverter Manufacturer, Model # and Rating for more than one, enter all in the same field, separated by a comma Enter Ampere Rating and number of inverters Enter AC Inverter Total Rating (kw) 30
31 Online NEM Application: System Information Enter Nominal Voltage Rating (VAC), Nominal DC Voltage (VDC), Efficiency percentage, Power Factor percentage, and Frequency (Hz) Select whether inverter is utilitytaggable, lockable, and has an accessible disconnect Indicate whether one-line diagram and site plans are ready to attach Indicate whether you plan to export power Enter the Estimated Gross Annual Energy Production (kw) Confirm the inverter is IEEE1547 and UL1741 certified Indicate if transformer is customerowned and primary service is from Pepco (rare) 31
32 Online NEM Application: Contractor Contact Information Indicate whether equipment is owner (customer) installed Enter Contractor contact information Organization name, street address, city, state, and ZIP Code Provide contractor contact person, day and evening phone numbers, fax number and address Note that most fields, including are required 32
33 Electrical Contractor Information Indicate whether the Electrical Contractor is the same or different from the equipment contractor List the Electrical Contractor company name, address, city, state, ZIP Code Enter the Electrical Contractor contact name, day and evening telephone numbers, fax and address Provide the Electrical Contractor s license number Indicate whether the license is active Indicate whether the small generator facility is eligible for net metering Select Next 33
34 Attach Supporting Documents Attach the Site Plan Attach the One-Line Diagram Attach the Aggregated NEM application (if applicable) Attach the DC Generator (i.e., PV Panel) Nameplate and Manufacturer Specification Sheet (if applicable) Attach the new construction usage calculator (if applicable) Attach the Inverter Manufacturer s Cut Sheet Attach any other relevant documents Select Next 34
35 Review Interconnection Application Review each section s information If edits are needed, use the green navigational arrows to move to that section of the application Click the Down and Up arrows to open and close the field, and review the information. Then select the next category of information to review 35
36 Contractor Reviews Attachments Review attachments If edits are needed, use the green navigational arrows to move to that section of the application The system automatically calculates and displays any application fees owed If everything is correct, click on Submit to Customer 36
37 Contractor Submits Application to Customer for Review Once you have clicked Submit to Customer, you will see a popup box asking you to confirm you are ready for the application to be sent to the customer Click Confirm The system automatically generates an to the customer (contractor will be copied) indicating an application and agreement are ready for their review and electronic signature 37

39 Customer My Account Sign-In Customer clicks the link in their that takes them to My Account Customer enters their My Account user name, verifies their security image is correct, enters their password and clicks Continue Customers who have not yet set up their My Account will need to register 39

Have your last Pepco bill at hand Establishing My Account does not mean a customer is signing up for paperless billing, although this is one of the services available in My Account Customers who decline to set up a My Account cannot proceed with an online application the contractor must complete and submit a paper application 40

42 Customer NEM Dashboard: Pickup Requested Work Customer clicks on the Pending tab Click Pickup to review your NEM application and agreement Click History to see all details of your application To view and or print your application, select View and Print To delete an application, select Delete Caution deleted applications cannot be retrieved 42
43 Customer Reviews Application Customer reviews all sections of your application. If something looks incorrect, you cannot make changes to the application you ll need your contractor to make modifications Contact your contractor immediately to discuss the issues To send the application back to your contractor for changes, click Return to Contractor 43
44 Customer Signs Application If Customer agrees with the application, read and agree to the Terms and Conditions Customer electronically signs the NEM Interconnection Application Part I Pepco DC customers will also sign an additional D.C. NEM Contract 44
45 Customer Submits NEM Application Part I Customer electronically signs the Interconnection Agreement and D.C. NEM Contract, and agrees to the Terms and Conditions Customer clicks OK on the I Agree pop-up window Click Submit Click Confirm on the Confirm Submit pop-up window 45
46 Customer Submits NEM Application Part I The business day of or following the date the Customer submits the online application is Pepco s Receipt Date For District of Columbia applications, Pepco has 10 business days to acknowledge the application receipt For Maryland applications, Pepco has 5 business days to acknowledge the application receipt A complete application enters the application processing queue as of the Receipt Date 46
47 Pepco Reviews the Application Part I Pepco s Green Power Connection Team reviews the signed NEM Application Part I for completeness GPC sends an Acknowledgement of Receipt to the Customer and Contractor 47
48 Contractor Pays Application Fee The system calculates and sends the Contractor an invoice for any application fees Contractors can pay their invoices by credit card or bank debit through Speedpay, or by mailing in a check with the invoice Access Speedpay at pepco.com/specialbilling 48
49 Pepco Engineering Review Pepco Engineering teams access the NEM Application Part I and review it for feasibility GPC sends the contractor and customer an Approval to Install or a Screening Result listing the conditions required for approval 49
50 Contractor Installs Equipment Contractor installs the equipment and obtains Electrical Inspection Certificate indicating Solar or PV Contractor signs into the portal In the Pending tab, select the appropriate application and click Complete Part 2 50

We hope contractors and customers are convinced of the benefits of the online application process If My Account cannot be used, contractor will need to submit a paper application While paper applications are still accepted there are downsides compared to online applications Manual applications mean slower processing, and the potential for errors and incomplete applications Contractors cannot monitor application status through an online NEM Application dashboard 57
