1 Registration guide for VW rating clients VOA Government Gateway portal for Business Rates Check, Challenge, Appeal

2 Contents How to create your User ID How to verify your identity How to register your company details How to manage your properties Before you start, you will need your National Insurance Number, a note of your UK passport number and its expiry date and scanned copies your latest rate demand(s) If you do not have a valid UK Passport, please call your usual VW rating surveyor for further advice.

3 Step 1 Start by clicking on Register to commence the process Before you can access the details of your rating assessment(s), you will need to create a COMPANY gateway account FOR BUSINESS RATES ONLY Firstly, open an internet browser page and use the link below:- view-my-valuation/cca/search Click Register now to proceed

4 Step 2 If you haven t already created a BUSINESS RATES ACCOUNT, then select No to both these questions The second question is revealed once selecting No for the first question

5 Step 3 Select I want to appoint an agent to represent my business and then click continue

6 Step 4 Put your name and personal address (not your agents) and create a password. NB: Ensure you make a note of it! Please avoid using a personal one. We suggest your business name plus rates1 eg directgrouprates1

7 Step 5 You ve now created a user ID. Print this off and keep it safe Then click Continue

8 Step 6 You now will have to add your personal details in order to verify, identify and allocate company data to this Government Gateway account for your business.

9 Step 7 You now will have to verify your identify.

10 Step 8 You should receive this message once you have completed the verification questions.

11 Step 9 It is important to use the company name on the rate demand even if it s no longer correct. If there are different trading company name on other rate demands, you will have to repeat the process and register a new Govt Gateway User ID for each different business. We suggest you use your work or your general business as an alternative. Registration as an agent, tick No

12 Step 10 Once you have completed the registration process Now you need to select Manage properties NB For clients with multiple sites, we recommend you allow us to manage the assessment matching and rate demand uploading processes.

13 Step 11 This will allocate your business property to the Gateway. Click Add property

14 Step 12 Find all your properties here. Search for the Post Code on the Rate Demand the Royal Mail Post Code may be slightly different to the one shown in the 2017 Rating List.

15 Step 13 Find your property from the list. Click Claim this property

16 Step 14 Select the appropriate answers and click Add property If you lease a property and pay rent, click occupier. If you own the property freehold, click owner If you own the property freehold and occupy the premises click owner and occupier

17 Step 15 You will now need to download a pdf of the rate demand for the premises. If not already done so, you must scan a copy of the rate demand(s) to your computer as a pdf.

18 Step 16 Upload the saved rate demand as a pdf

19 Step 17 To proceed, check the declaration box and click Continue

20 Step 18 Reiterate the process here for each additional property. Once completed, your rating advisor at VW your Govt Gateway account, password and confirmation of the address you have used. We will now take over the registration process and appointment accordingly.
