3 1 How to Use It is necessary for a new visitor to register a set of account and password to log in the ASPERS for the first time. 1.1 Author A new account is entitled to the Author that allows a user to submit a manuscript; on the other hand, it is necessary for the Administrator to authorize an account to more entitlements. Step1: Click New Account if you are a new visitor. Step2: Key in your address along with a password not les than 4 digits. All messages will be sent to you via it, so ensure the accuracy. Step3: There will be 2 outcomes as you finish steps 1 and 2. (1) Success: Your registration is accepted and the ASPERS will send a letter to said address. Please click the link in the letter to log in the ASPERS to finish the registration. *Note: Confirm the letter in the Spam and click it as a non-spam. 4
4 (2) Failure: Your registration is rejected for the account has been registered. You may click Forget Password to read a new password in said address. 1.2 Reviewer The Reviewer must be entitled by the Administrator. If you have been entitled to the Reviewer, you will see a screen as follows in the Reviewer. 5
5 2 Application There are 5 parts of the ASPERS, a.k.a. the Author, the Reviewer, the Editor, the Administration and Personal Data, entitled to various capabilities. You are entitled to the Author as you have accomplished the registration via authorization and are able to submit a manuscript. Other entitlements need be authorized by the Administrator. 2.1 Account established by the user Refer to Account established by the Journal The Journal (editor-in-chief/assistant editors) may click Add in the Account maintain of the Account data of the Administration. 2.3 Functions There are requested and submitted manuscripts. The former will be viewed by the editor-in-chief for acceptance without review and the latter will be reviewed. There are well-planned computerized steps for editing procedures to advance the efficiency as follows. 7 3 Author 3.1 Requested manuscript Request A request for papers may be viewed and be accepted or declined by an Author. An Author will receive a notice from the ASPERS with the object, New requested commission, via said address. An Author may login the system and view the information via the Requested commission, and may accept or decline it. If the request is accepted, it will go to Accepted commissions-papers to be submitted. If the request is declined, the reason must be filled and will be sent to the editor-in-chief and assistant editors. 8
8 3.1.2 Accepted commissions-papers to be submitted Click Continue and enter Papers to be submitted. Upon the request successfully submitted, the Author will receive AUTHOR_COMMISSION_CONFIRM and the Journal will receive NOTIFICATION titled Commissions received. 3.2 Submitted manuscript New manuscript There are 5 steps for online submission, a.k.a. Submission Status, Manuscript Metadata, Author Information, File Upload and Confirm the Submission. Submission Status Read the terms, and then mark and click Next. 9

10 For a manuscript written by more than one author, select the number of authors and enter individual author information, respectively. Since there is one author for a manuscript, one shall be selected as the corresponding author. A notice of manuscript progress will be sent to the corresponding author and the copy to the Authors by the ASPERS. File Upload A manuscript file and plural image files can be uploaded. Please prepare the files in terms of the instructions. A manuscript file is up to 4M and an image file is up to 2M. Please select the number of image files first, and upload the files in terms of fields. Confirm the Submission Please confirm the accuracy of information. Click Confirm the Submission if all information is accurate and click Previous or the buttons at the top for revision. Upon success, the manuscript will enter Accepted for review and the Author will receive AUTHOR_MANU_CONFIRM and the Journal will receive NOTIFICATION titled New manuscript for assistant editors. 11
11 3.2.2 Revised manuscript Where a manuscript is viewed as Review after Revision or Accept after Revision by the editor-in-chief during review, it will enter where the author may submit the revised file and thus the data previously filled are shown. The fields required are identical with besides Response to Reviews. Please respond to us under the opinions after review. Either text input or file upload will do. Upon success, the manuscript will enter Accepted for review and the Author will receive AUTHOR_REVISION_CONFIRM and the Journal will receive NOTIFICATION titled Revised manuscript for assistant editors Manuscript in progress A manuscript yet to be submitted with Save in can be submitted. 3.3 Peer reviewed Papers Re-submit the manuscript Upon submission and prior to review, a manuscript will enter that allows the Author to realize the progress. In case of error, the Author may resubmit either text file or image file. Upon success, the author will receive AUTHOR_REMANU_CONFIRM. Nevertheless, any resubmission of a manuscript under review is prohibited. 12
12 3.3.2 Manuscript under review The Author is able to view the data but unable to execute Returned after preview The Author may check a manuscript returned after preview. A manuscript may be resubmitted after revision under the editorial opinions or be rejected by clicking Refuse. The latter will enter History since it becomes a rejected manuscript Rejected after review A manuscript rejected after review may be viewed. The Author may view the editorial opinions by clicking View and submit a revised manuscript through 13
13 Rebuttal by clicking Create. Upon success, the ASPERS will send AUTHOR_REBUTTAL_CONFIRM to the Author and NOTIFICATION to the Journal titled Revised manuscript via rebuttal for assistant editors. 14
14 3.3.5 Manuscript for proof A manuscript accepted for proof after the editorial procedures of English revision or typesetting in need of proofreading of the Author will enter Both the original file and the file for proof can be viewed. The Author need upload the proofread file and reply the opinions concerned Manuscript accepted All manuscripts accepted for publication can be viewed. 3.4 History for Author All manuscripts submitted and their status quo can be viewed. 15
15 4 Reviewer 4.1 Request for review Upon request for review from the editor-in-chief or editors, the request will be shown and the abstract is available to view. The full-text download will not be available until the request is accepted. Upon Accept, a manuscript will enter 4.2 Active review. Upon Decline, the reason need be filled and the ASPERS will notify the Journal of the reason by sending REVIEWER_DECLINE. 4.2 Active review A Reviewer may download an anonymized manuscript in need of review. Click Active and stop to review the manuscript. A reviewer will see: 16
16 Please rate in terms of the items in the scale built by the Journal and provide personal opinions on publication. It is necessary to provide opinion by upload or writing down the comments in the column except Acceptable. Save: allows a Reviewer to save comments and finish the rest afterwards. This action will not accomplish the review. Print: allows a Reviewer to print the scale and comments. Decline: allows a Reviewer to decline the review in case of emergency. Submit: allows a manuscript to enter History for Reviewers. 4.3 History for Reviewers All manuscripts requested for review and their status quo can be viewed. 17
17 5 Chief Editor It is exclusive for the Administrators (editor-in-chief, editors and assistant editors) for online tracking or execution of manuscripts. * Exclusive for the Administrators 6 Administration It is exclusive for the Administrators (editor-in-chief and assistant editors) for private maintenance and control over the ASPERS to customize functions and instructions/illustration adequate to the Journal. * Exclusive for the Administrators 7 Personal information 7.1 Edit The profile may be edited or revised. 7.2 Availablity/Note The timetable available to review may be selected as the references to sending manuscripts. 7.3 Password You may change your password here. 7.4 Authorize *New Since the ASPERS 2.0 is an integrated platform, an account is adequate to all journals. Thus, Authorize allows you to authorize your personal information to certain journals. 18
18 Select All or Custom. Please select journals in need for the latter. Any submission to other journals demands the authorization; meanwhile, the authorization cannot be cancelled for securing liabilities of both parties upon any manuscript in progress. If you want to login unauthorized journals, the ASPERS need confirm that you agree to authorize the journal as follows. [Note] This Manual is available to download. 19
