1 INFINITE CAMPUS MISD ONLINE GRADEBOOK > WEB APPLICATIONS > MANSFIELD MESSENGER In this course you will learn about Teacher (Instruction) Messenger You can send an message to parents about a failing average, missing assignment, or just send a general message. The message will also post to the parent portal Inbox. Failing Grade Messenger pages 2-4You re not limited to only failing grade notices. Missing Grade Messenger pages 5-6 Teacher Messenger pages 7-8 Failing Grades Messenger Contact parents about their child s course average. Missing Assignment Missing must be marked on the assignment before using this tool. The teacher can preview the recipients before sending the message. Once a course average or missing score has been sent, it will not be sent again for the same task/term unless you checkmark Allow Repeat Messages. The District Messenger will automatically send an message at 3:00 AM to parents of students who have a failing assignment grade (grade 69 or below). 2 Wondering why Failing is marked out??? Use this tool to send notices about an average that s close to failing or send notices to parents of students who have a great average in your class! YOU pick the grade the notice is going to filtered on! Failing Grade - Messenger Jot down or make a mental note of the class grades from the Gradebook window. 1. Open Messenger. 2. Select Failing Grades. Gradebook Note 3 failing grades in the yellow Grd column Message Preview window will open. Open Messenger. Click Failing Grades You can use the default message or create a new message by click New in the Template dropdown menu. Typing in the Teacher Comments box will appear here. To create a positive or warning notice click New template & change the wording of the notice. 11/08 Page 2 of 8

3 3. The Grades... Which grades would you like to filter on? Checkmark the failing grades (or whatever grade you want to filter on!) in the array. Gradebook screen shot Messenger screen shot [You could check 100 for a postive notice to parents or check 70 to warn parents but make SURE to change the wording of the notice!] NOTE: This is the yellow Grd column. 4. Select the Students & Task that you want the system to filter (use). In other words: Select the grading cycle(s) that you want the Messenger to look at. 5. Click Preview Notices 11/08 Page 3 of 8

4 6. Preview the message & notice the recipient & counts. Make SURE TO CHANGE the working if sending a positive or warning notice!!! Clicking Review Recipients will give you a window similar to this. 7. Click Save Recipients or Cancel. Click Save Recipients if you de-selected (changed) something that the system had. If you agree with the system, click Cancel. Either way you will be brought back to the previous window. NOTE! Uncheck the boxes next to recipients to prevent those from receiving the message. All selected recipients will receive the message through parent portal, even when no address or phone is enabled. Clicking on the Preview icon will give you a window similar to this. 8. 5 Missing Grade -Messenger 1. Mark an assignment missing in the Gradebook. (RIGHT click, check Missing, Save.) 2. Open Messenger. 3. Select Missing Assignments. Message Preview window will open. 4. You can use the default message or create a new message by click New in the Template dropdown menu. Ignore Teacher Comment box. assignment 5. 7 Teacher Message Messenger 1. Open Messenger. 2. Click Teacher Messages. 3. Click New to start a new message. 4. Enter the subject and body of the message. (The subject will be in the subject line of the .) Let me introduce myself! Hello! I m your child s teacher and I m good! 5. Click Save & Continue (if you want to save it) or click Continue. 6. Select Recipients: Guardian- a message will be sent to the guardian of the selected student(s). (No student s are in the system. Ignore Students.) 8 7. Preview message by clicking the Preview Message button. Let me introduce myself! Hello! I m your child s teacher and I m good! Review Recipients and then Send Message (similar to steps above.) Close and Send. Hello! I m your child s teacher and I m good! You re done! POINTS TO REVIEW: District Messenger s are automatically sent from the District Messenger regarding missing assignments. The only thing teachers have to do to make this happen is to mark assignments as missing (right click & checkmark missing). See page 5. s are automatically sent from the District Messenger regarding failing (69 or below) assignments. There is nothing teachers have to do on their end except to put the grade in the Gradebook. District s are similar to this: This is an automatically generated by the Infinite Campus system. See page 2-4. Teachers can manually send s to parents of students who have missing assignments. Teachers will have to mark assignments as MISSING. (The difference between your and the District Messenger is that you can word the the way you want and mention your grading policy, make-up date, etc.) See page 5-6.
