2 Welcome to your BlackBerry handheld set-up. Follow these next few steps to create your BlackBerry Web Client account. Once completed, please refer to the Customization Guide for additional set-up and configuration options. IMPORTANT: For Business Users with BlackBerry Enterprise Server access, consult with your IT HelpDesk prior to creating your BlackBerry Web Client account. START Ensure Wireless On Insert the SIM Card into your BlackBerry handheld Wait for Registration Message to appear in your Messages folder. then insert the battery 1 2 Scroll to Applications and click trackwheel Scroll to Blackberry Web Client and click trackwheel to launch Scroll to WAP Browser (Rogers) and click trackwheel to launch Click on Create Your Account 3 4

3 At Welcome to BlackBerry!, click Continue Review Terms & Conditions and click I Agree to continue 5 6 Enter desired Friendly Name Enter desired User ID NOTE: The User ID you create will form address (i.e. myname@rogers.blackberry.net) 7 8

4 Enter desired Password to access your BlackBerry Web Client account Congratulations! Your address has been created. Click Done to continue. Ensure that you make note of your User ID and Address Select Secret Question and type the answer in Secret Answer field Click Submit to create account At Accounts screen, click Continue. Account Integration is covered in the Customization Guide 9 10 At Account Summary, click Done to proceed with your account set-up Wait for Activation Welcome Message. Once received, your account is active and you will be able to send and receive s. To continue account configuration and set-up, please refer to Customization Guide

5 Customization Guide Welcome to the exciting wireless world of BlackBerry and thank you for choosing Rogers Wireless. Now that you have created your BlackBerry Web Client account (see Creating Your BlackBerry Account Guide), this guide will provide you with comprehensive instructions on how to use your BlackBerry GSM/GPRS wireless handheld with combined voice, wireless and mobile Internet functionality. You can use your BlackBerry handheld to make and receive phone calls, to browse the Internet and to wirelessly receive and manage from multiple accounts. Refer to the Work or Personal Solution Selector in this guide to configure your BlackBerry handheld to best suit your needs. A Work Solution Selector Identify the solution that best suits your needs. Once identified, follow the checklist steps listed below each solution to set up and configure: 1. Send and receive s using my work address. Business Solutions (BlackBerry Enterprise Server)* If your business does not have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server Business Solutions (Server Forwarding) Configuring Your Sent From Address 2. Send and receive using a BlackBerry address. 3. Send and receive s using a new BlackBerry address but still receive work s to my BlackBerry. Business Solutions (Server Forwarding) * does not require a BlackBerry Web Client account to be created B Personal Solution Selector Identify the solution that best suits your needs. Once identified, follow the checklist steps listed below each solution to set up and configure: 1. Send and receive s using my personal address. Integrating Your Account Configuring Your Sent From Address 2. Send and receive s using a new BlackBerry address. 3. Send and receive s using a new BlackBerry address but still receive s from my personal account to my BlackBerry. Integrating Your Account Business Solutions BlackBerry Enterprise Server If your company uses the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and you are an authorized user, please contact your corporate IT Administrator after you have activated your BlackBerry handheld. In addition to integrating your BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you can also use the BlackBerry Web Client to integrate your existing accounts if authorized by your company. To do this, please refer to the Personal Solution Selector. BlackBerry Desktop Redirector If you are using your BlackBerry with a Microsoft Exchange corporate account, and your company is not using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software, you must use the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector to forward messages to your BlackBerry handheld. Server Forwarding You can forward your company to your BlackBerry. NOTE: Check with your company s IT Administrator to verify that you are allowed to forward your company to your BlackBerry Web Client account. Forwarding to BlackBerry Web Client does not offer the advanced security features of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Create a forwarding rule in your desktop client to forward your to your BlackBerry address. Request that your company s IT Administrator creates a forwarding rule directly on the enterprise server (Novell GroupWise, Sun iplanet, etc.) to forward your to your BlackBerry address. C D

6 E Integrating Your Account From your desktop computer: 1. Log into your BlackBerry Web Client account (rogers.com/bwc). 2. From the Home Page screen, click the Accounts link under Tips section. 3. The Accounts List screen appears. Click Add Account. 4. The Account Set-up screen appears. In the following fields, type the appropriate information: Address: Type the full address of the account that you want to add (for example, User Name: Type the login ID (For Example username). Password: Type the password for the account. Re-enter Password: Confirm your password. 5. Click Submit. NOTE: If you add a POP3 account, you might be prompted to complete the following fields: Server: Type the address of your Internet Service Provider s mail server (for example, mail.ispname.com). If you do not know the mail server address, contact your Internet Service Provider Port Number: Type the appropriate port number. If you do not know the port number, contact your ISP. 6. Click Submit. The account is added. If unable to integrate using the above solution, please refer to the following: Your ISP or provider may offer an forwarding service, where you can forward from your existing account to your BlackBerry. NOTE: You can contact your ISP and request that a forwarding rule be implemented for your account, if available. forwarding leaves a copy of your in your ISP account. Delete messages from your ISP account so you don t run out of space to receive and forward messages. F Sent From Address/Managing Account Space Configuring Your Sent From Address After integrating your account, you can specify a Sent From Address so that any messages that you send appear to be sent from the address you specify here. Use this functionality to make it appear that all the you send is from a single address, regardless of how many accounts you integrate with your BlackBerry. 1. Log into your BlackBerry Web Client account (rogers.com/bwc) 2. Click Profile 3. From the Profile page, click on Sent From Address 4. From Sent From Address page, select one of the following options, then click Submit: Use your new BlackBerry address for your Sent From address (for example, userid@rogers.blackberry.net) Select an integrated account address from the drop-down list (for example, username@ispname.com) Type a customized address in the field provided Managing Your Web Client Storage To avoid reaching the size limit of your mailbox so you can continue to send and receive s from your BlackBerry, you must manage the account space in your BlackBerry Web Client account. In order to do so, please follow these instructions: 1. Log into your BlackBerry Web Client account (rogers.com/bwc) 2. Click Manage Folders button (left-hand panel) 3. From the Manage Folder list, click Inbox. 4. Place a checkmark next to Auto-Age and select the desired frequency to auto-age items from your Inbox (For example, 5 Days) 5. Click Save and Close button 6. From the Manage Folder list click Deleted Items 7. Place a checkmark next to Auto-Age and enter 1 Day to auto-age items from your Deleted Items folder 8. Click Save and Close button BlackBerry Desktop Software Installs and runs on your desktop PC. It is an integrated suite of applications that provides organizer integration, folder management tools, filtering capabilities, information backup utilities and an application loader. Insert the BlackBerry Desktop Software Installation CD into your CD-ROM drive Complete the on-screen instructions Connect your handheld to your computer On the Windows taskbar, click Start Click Programs> BlackBerry> Desktop Manager BlackBerry Desktop Software Allows you to administer the following: redirection including filters and handheld security Load applications Backup and restore handheld contents Synchronize desktop applications (MS Outlook, Lotus Notes, etc.) NOTE: For the latest software and free downloads for your handheld model, visit rogers.com/blackberrysoftware. If you have an IT Help Desk, please contact them for help in upgrading your software. G H

7 Troubleshooting Messages are not being sent or received If your BlackBerry handheld is not sending or receiving messages, confirm that you are in a Rogers Wireless GSM/GPRS coverage area. See your BlackBerry manufacturer s user guide for on-screen network status icons and wireless coverage indicators. If you are within a wireless coverage area and your BlackBerry handheld is inactive, you can request the BlackBerry Web Client service book to be resent to your handheld by following these steps: 1. Log into your BlackBerry Web Client account. (rogers.com/bwc) 2. From the menu bar, click Profile. 3. From the Profile page, click Send Service Book. Your handheld will receive a new service book that enables you to resume sending and receiving . NOTE: If you load new applications onto your handheld using the Desktop Manager Software, you may have to resend the service book to your handheld using BlackBerry Web Client. Recovering your password If you forget your password, retrieve it by answering your Secret Question. From the BlackBerry Web Client Login page, click Forgot your password? and enter your user ID. If you correctly answer your Secret Question, a new temporary password is ed to your handheld. You should change your password the next time that you log in to BlackBerry Web Client. If you are not in a wireless coverage area and cannot receive the temporary password on your handheld, call Customer Support at DATA (3282) for assistance. Troubleshooting (Cont d) Travelling with your BlackBerry If you are planning to travel with your BlackBerry, please ensure that the following has been done: latest handheld software is installed on device (rogers.com/blackberrysoftware) identified the frequencies supported by your BlackBerry GSM/GPRS handheld confirmed on rogers.com/roaming that a roaming operator is available at your travel destination confirmed the roaming operation supports at least one of the frequencies supported by your handheld If you have any concerns with your BlackBerry connectivity while abroad, contact us at (514) The BlackBerry and RIM families of related marks, images and symbols are the exclusive properties and trademarks of Research In Motion Limited.
