1 Program Support Work Samples & Support Materials Work samples and support materials are the most important parts of your application. Grants are awarded primarily on artistic merit and your work samples are the only means panelists have to assess it. Works included must have been created/performed within the last three years (excluding presenters). Work samples should be of the highest possible quality. Support materials provide necessary background information about the qualifications of the artists and professionals you propose to work with, the extent of the planning you ve done, and the commitment you have from partners. 2 Accessibility, Healthcare, and Aging WORK SAMPLES Recent work samples of the proposed artist(s) that demonstrate their artistry are required. No press photos, head shots or highly edited promotional videos. Please upload: Up to 15 JPEG images*, or Up to 15 minutes of MP4 video** or MP3 audio (maximum of 3 total samples), or A combination of up to 10 images and up to 5 minutes of video** or audio (maximum of 2 total v/a samples). SUPPORT MATERIALS All applicants will be required to submit support materials appropriate to their proposal. Support materials provide key evidence that builds a case for a strong application and addresses the evaluation criteria. Please upload all support materials as PDFs. 3 Literary Arts WORK SAMPLES Recent work samples of the proposed artist(s) that demonstrate their artistry are required. No press photos, head shots or highly edited promotional videos. Upload a sample of the each author s written work conforming to the size and format requirements of the electronic application: excerpts of no more than six pages in length, totaling no more than 30 pages for all authors, or links to longer works that are found on the Web. For Web link submissions, identify the author and the featured work on the Web Link Collection Form. If large numbers of authors will appear at your event (a literary festival, for example), consult with program staff about the best way to present work samples. SUPPORT MATERIALS All applicants will be required to submit support materials appropriate to their proposal. 6 Work Sample Upload Steps Work sample selection is a two-stage process. Use the Work Sample Bank feature to upload your work samples and record descriptions. Once you have created a bank of samples in any format (image, written, or digital video), you will then click the Current Programs & Applications button to return to your application and select the samples you wish to include. 7 Work Sample Tips Work samples are the most important part of your application. Panelists are instructed to make their recommendations using artistic merit as a guiding criterion, so it is essential that applicants choose strong work that is well-presented by the work samples. Please select work samples that are: Well-documented. Poorly focused, framed, cropped, or exposed images or video documentation do not convey the level of professionalism panelists expect--and it s easy for them to pass over your project quickly as a result. Not promotional or highly edited. The panelists are tasked with assessing the artistic merit of the work samples. A highly edited clip, commercial, headshot, etc. will not be accepted as they are not helpful in this assessment. Relevant to the application and the project proposed. Make it easy for the panelists to imagine your project by including work samples that will give them an idea of what the end product will be for the project.
