Getting Started Immediately after you sign up with StreamingChurch.tv, your initial web site will be created. You will receive a welcome that includes a link to the location of your site ( a link to your administration control panel ( and your administration login and password. After creating your StreamingChurch.tv web site, you will need to set up the following items before you can stream your service live: Configure your on-site computer for broadcasting. Configure your live service web page. Configure your web campus site and community. (optional) Streaming Services StreamingChurch.tv provides the ability to broadcast your services live on the web using their web tools. Below is an example streaming service page: 4

The streaming service web page includes your video feed, an interactive chat room where members and visitors to your service can chat and interact. A separate tab that includes the teaching/sermon notes that members can edit or print, and an integrated Google map that shows where all members are attending. The system also includes a design template for the page, an area where you as the administrator can update and post content, as well as an area that has dynamic content that you as the administrator can update during the live service. For example, you have the dynamic area update with various messages, pass the plate link", buttons, or links as the service progresses without requiring your visitors to reload the page. To include the streaming service page on your MyFlock.com community web site, simply navigate to the Site Manager" on the admin control panel and create a new page and select the automated page" option and select the Streaming Service" automated page. Configure Your Live Service Web Page - See Video Here You will need to login to your admin control panel and then navigate to the Streaming Management" section on your admin control panel. When you select the streaming services link from the admin control panel, a screen similar to the one below will appear: 5

In order to change to a different web page design, simply select the radio button below the desired design and hit the submit button. You may also navigate to other pages of designs by selecting the appropriate page numbers. Once a design is selected, new visitors to your streaming services page will see that particular design. If you desire to create your own custom design click the text Custom Designs or Design My Own. A window similar to the one below will be presented: 6

You can preview a custom design that others have created by hovering your mouse over the design or choose that design by clicking the button below it. You can begin the simple process of creating your own design and features by uploading a background that you have already created from your hard drive. Just click on the Create My Own Custom Design button at the top. A window similar to the one below will be presented: See this video for help Once you upload the background you have created from your hard drive, you will see this window like the one below that will have the background you have uploaded: 7

You can now begin to customize your template. (see image above) You will notice that you can change the color for the chat text, chat name, chat background, chat area transparency, page text color, page link color and hover link color. You can also enable and disable tabs for the chat, who's online, notes, map and Bible. You can always hit the preview button to see the changes you are making. 15 You can enter information into the Static Area Content editor as you desire. You can use the editor to input links, buttons, graphics, text or whatever you desire to appear on this area of your streaming service web page. Please ensure that the content in this area is no larger than 475 x 140 pixels (if you keep your content to fit in the window without scrolling, you will be fine). If your content exceeds these dimensions, it may be necessary for your viewers to scroll to see the content. When you have completed the edit of this area, hit the Update Content" button to save the information. The information will be automatically posted to your streaming service page when new visitors arrive at that page. Active Dynamic Zone When you hover your mouse over the Active Dynamic Zone menu, the following screen will appear: You can choose to either add a new Active Dynamic Area or edit an existing one 15

This window (shown above) contains all of the dynamic content blocks that you have previously created. This dynamic content area is useful to update during the live service in order to pass the plate", or identify worship songs, or provide the ability to download sermon notes, etc. You can have as many dynamic content blocks as you desire and can update them as often as you like during the live service. Also included in this area is a dynamic web service countdown clock. Once you have entered your service times, the countdown clock will automatically 17

countdown to the next service. Once the service has begun, the countdown clock will show that the service has begun. It will remain in this service has begun" mode for 30 minutes after the service has begun. It will then automatically begin counting down to the next service. Web Host When you select the Web Host tab, under the Service Admin Menu, the following screen will appear: Enter the names of those that you wish to be flagged as web hosts in your chat room and when they enter the chat room using that name, the words [web host]" will be appended to their name in the chat room. Make sure that the spelling of the names in this field match the name they use when entering the chat room and it will work. You can enter as many web hosts as you like. Block Chat Participants When you select the Web Host tab, under the Services Admin menu, a screen similar to the following will appear below: 18

If you wish to block anyone listed from participating on your site, simply check the box next to their name and hit the Block Checked IP Addresses" button at the bottom. Those on the blocked list will not be able to participate in the chat room and their icon in the Who's Online" area will automatically disappear after a few seconds. Those people you block will be blocked indefinitely until you return to this area and remove them from the blocked list. Chat Log The chat log will retain all chat that was entered in your chat room for the last 30 days. You can select this button to review all chat dialogue (with date and time) that has occurred on your site over the last 30 days. Chat Language When you select the Chat Language button, a screen similar to the following will appear: 19

Simply select the desired language and your streaming platform (tab titles, prompts, introductions, etc.) will be converted to that default language. Clear Map History When you select the Clear Map History button, the system will remove map markers for those that are not currently online (the marker remains after a person has left the site). These markers are automatically cleared each evening on your platform. Configuring Your Broadcasting Computer You will need to connect your video camera(s) to your broadcast computer. This can be as simple as connecting a single camera to your computer, or configuring multiple cameras, video switches, sound boards, etc. to feed your broadcast computer. There are also various options with video cards on the broadcasting computer, but we recommend the Grass Valley products that are designed for streaming video. A good general purpose video adapter that we recommend when connecting your camera to your computer would be the Grass Valley ADVC-55. This device will accept S-Video and composite video from your camera and provide a fire-wire output to connect to your computer. Setting Up Your Live Encoder for Streaming You can use a variety of live streaming encoders with your StreamingChurch.tv account. For those just getting started with live streaming, we recommend the Adobe Flash Media Live (FMLE) encoder. The FMLE is a free product you can download here. We also recommend the Wirecast product from Telestream.net which is an excellent alternative choice. Wirecast will allow you to stream to all platforms including mobile devices and the Roku as well as provide additional features such as multiple camera inputs, video switching, desktop sharing, picture in a picture and much more. Wirecast is available as a free download for their demo version (contains a watermark on the video). See more info here. 20

The information below should be able to be applied to other encoders if needed. You can also use other live encoders if desired. Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder Setup Instructions To encode that stream, if you are using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLE): 1) Open Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 2) In the "Encoding Options" tab, select the "Medium Bandwidth (300 kbps) H.264" profile for now. You can experiment with others when you want. 3) Select your video and audio capture devices. 5) Your screen size and bit rate can be individually adjusted if desired. You should keep your encoded bit rate at least 100 kbps BELOW your tested upload bit rate supplied by your facility's Internet connection. You can test your Internet connection to our servers here. The Quality of Service percentage is also important and should remain above 70% for the most stable stream delivered to our streaming servers. When selecting a bit rate, also keep in mind your audience and don't select a bit rate that will be too high for your audience. 21

6) Most of the other settings on the left side of the "Encoding Options" can be left in the default settings and then adjusted later. 7) On the right side of the "Encoding Options" section, enter the provided URL exactly under the "FMS URL" box: See Below rtmp://sctv.streamingchurch.tv/scxxx Select the Auto Adjust" option and choose the Degrade Quality" option. 8) Leave the "Backup URL" box blank. 9) Under "Stream" the word live.mp4 StreamingChurch.tv allows you to encode multiple live streams. You can vary the stream name as needed, for example for different bit rates described in #7 above. Just keep it lower case with all alpha-numeric characters and no spaces. 10) The "Save to File" option will archive a copy of your live stream on your encoder computer. Select it if you would like to do so and give it a location to save the file. 11) N/A Basic Plan Hit the Connect button, enter Username: scxxx Password: your_password when the pop up box displays. See Below 22

12) When you are ready to begin streaming, click the green "Start" button. NOTE (streaming to ios devices using FMLE): To stream to the current ios devices (iphone, ipad and ipod Touch), you will need to encode your video stream in H.264 format and your audio in AAC format (or MP3, sample rate: 44.1 khz, bit rate: 128 kbps, stereo). If you are encoding using a Mac, the FMLE software provides the option to encode in AAC audio format. NOTE (streaming to Roku using FMLE): If you wish to stream your ondemand content on the Roku device using FMLE, you should encode your video in H.264 format and audio in AAC format. Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3 can archive content in MPEG-4 (F4V) format using an industrystandard recording technology known as "fragments" or "moof atoms." The StreamingChurch.tv Flash streaming servers do not support moof atoms, and therefore cannot recognize files recorded by Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3. To correct this, process your files with the Adobe F4V Post Processor Tool (available here). The F4V Post Processor tool aggregates the information from all the moof atoms into a single moov atom and outputs a new file. Use the F4V Post Processor tool to prepare F4V files for editing in Adobe Premiere Pro, delivery over StreamingChurch.tv Flash streaming servers, HTTP delivery, or in video players that support H.264 and AAC 23

formats. Once you have completed your on-demand file processing, you can change the file extension name from your_file_name.f4v to your_file_name.mp4 and upload it to your media vault where it will be automatically included in the Roku listing. Tip: The bit rate at which you encode your services will have an impact on your bandwidth consumption. While a higher bit rate can result in a higher quality video image, it will also consume more bandwidth per viewer. Reducing your bit rate by 50% will reduce your monthly bandwidth costs by 50%. The table below shows the costs per viewer hour. A viewer-hour is defined as one viewer viewing for one hour. It could also be two viewers viewing for 1/2 hour, or ten viewers for six minutes each, etc. Average per viewer hour: 256 kbps 8.4 per one viewer-hour 300 kbps 8.6 per one viewer-hour 384 kbps 12.4 per one viewer-hour 512 kbps 16.9 per one viewer-hour 640 kbps 21.1 per one viewer-hour 720 kbps 23.7 per one viewer-hour 1 Mbps 33.0 per one viewer-hour Wirecast Live Encoder Here's the brief instructions when using the latest version of the Wirecast encoder to stream your services live (if you have an earlier version, you can set it up manually using the attached credentials). See below. 1) Launch Wirecast and select "Ouputs >> Output Settings" 24

2) Click the "More" button alongside destinations and make sure "StreamingChurch.tv" is selected. See below 3) Then choose the "StreamingChurch.tv" destination. See Below 4) N/A Basic Plan Under the "User name" field enter: scxxxand enter authentication password: your_password See Below 25

5) Choose "default" under the channel area and hit OK. You'll now be able to stream to your platform. NOTE The default stream will provide an adequate quality stream for your broadcast. You also have the option of selecting alternative quality and aspect ratio encoding presets under the Encoding menu. Select the appropriate setting for your requirements. NOTE If you are broadcasting multiple streams, choose the appropriate channel for the particular stream. You will need to configure additional streams in the same manner. If you need help in setting up your Wirecast live encoder you can contact us, and/or see this tutorial 26

Including Your Streaming Page on Your Existing Web Site Live Service Link If you wish to keep your existing church web site and you would like to link your live services page to your existing church web site, you can link the page with the following html code. Your live streaming page should be opened as a new window on your site. The live streaming page is typically 1024px X 600px. To create a link that will launch your streaming page in a new window, use the following html code: <a href="#" onclick="javascript:window.open(' mxxxx','streaming_window', 'width=1024, height=600,toolbar=no,status=yes,scrollbars=yes, resizable=yes')">link Text or Image Here</a> Embedded on Your Site: If you wish to embed the streaming platform on your site, you can use the following code to embed the platform: <iframe height="625" width="1024" frameborder="0" name="sctv" scrolling="no" src=" You should allow a width of 1024 pixels on your site to accommodate the streaming platform. If you don't have that wide of an area on your site, you can reduce the width attribute to accommodate your site requirements. Although be aware that the platform will require a certain width to display properly. If the embedded area doesn't quite fit, you can adjust the size of your video player to make additional room. You can change the size of the video player (small, medium and large) as well as the aspect ration (16:9 or 4:3) to make room on your platform. The tabbed area containing chat, map, etc. are not re-sizable. If your church website is a responsive design that adjusts for mobile platforms, you can use the following CSS on your site to automatically resize the streaming platform (max-width: 640px) {.sctv_frame { width:520px; height: 1000px; } (min-width: 640px) {.sctv_frame { width:1024px; height: 625px; 40

} } This will automatically resize the iframe embed area to be narrow (and tall) for best viewing on mobile devices. You may need to adjust the height value to best display your platform (height will vary depending on the content of your static and dynamic areas). With this code, if your viewport is less than 640 pixels wide, the iframe will automatically resize. Including a Countdown Timer on Your Existing Web Site If you would like to include the automated countdown timer on your site, you can include the following html on your existing ministry web site. <iframe frameborder="no" height="99" scrolling="no" src=" 99/index.php?churchid=churchxxxx" width="350"></iframe> You can also view the source code of any other timer listed on your admin panel dynamic area to embed other styles of countdown timers. Including Your On-Demand Media Vault on Your Existing Web Site * Only Available with Premium Account (You can still use the non-streaming media vault items, or host your streaming elsewhere like YouTube) 41

If you would like to include the automated coverflow media vault on your existing web site, you can include the following html on your existing ministry web site. <iframe height="350" src=" width="650" frameborder="0"></iframe> 42

If you would like to include the list view of the media vault on your existing web site, you can include the following html on your existing ministry web site. <iframe height="450" src=" width="800" frameborder="0"></iframe> Streaming to the iphone/ipad/ipod Touch iphone Encoder Software Required To stream to all ios devices (iphone, ipad, ipod Touch), you should encode your service using the.h264 video setting and the AAC audio settings. If your encoder doesn't offer the AAC audio setting, you can choose the MP3 audio setting (with bit rate: 128 kbps, sample rate: 44.1 khz and stereo) and your stream can be viewed by all ios devices running ios 3.6 or later. 43

iphone/ipad/ipod Touch Player Link When your viewers access your live streaming platform from an iphone/ipad/ipod Touch, the system will automatically provide the proper playback for those devices. Advanced Topics Adaptive Bit-rate * Only Available with Premium Account Adaptive Bit-rate Streaming is a technique used in streaming multimedia over computer networks. It works by detecting a user's bandwidth and CPU capacity in real time and adjusting the quality of a video stream accordingly. It requires the use of an encoder which can encode a single source video at multiple bit rates. The player client switches between streaming the different encodings depending on available resources. The result: very little buffering, fast start time and a good experience for both high-end and low-end connections. 44

If you are interested in implementing this, you'll need to make sure your local network provides plenty of upload speed at your location. Contact us at for more details. Church Management StreamingChurch.tv uses MyFlock.com as our content delivery platform. This is also available from your Admin Control Panel. You can use features like, Communications, Member Management, Contributions, Outreach and Administrations. You can see how some of the features work by looking at other training Videos, here. Your Free Mobile App Your StreamingChurch.tv account includes a free mobile app for your app for your members to download and use. Download the ChurchAppLive.com Admin Guide here.
