1 Introducing LiveU Central This chapter introduces LiveU Central, describes its system architecture and describes how to launch it. Introduction LiveU Central is a web interface that enables you to remotely control and manage LiveU field units (LUs) and channels. Each LiveU Central user is assigned permission to manage and control a specific group of LU devices and channels. LU Management and Control: LiveU Central enables you to view LU and channel status and to remotely configure an LU. Video Matrix: LiveU Central enables you to preview, monitor and switch incoming LU feeds to any output, thereby providing increased flexibility in daily operations. MMH File Management: LiveU Central enables you to browse, play and broadcast the files saved by LUs on LU2000 servers. Geolocation: LiveU Central enables you to view the location of LUs on a standard map and to zoom in to Google Maps Street View in order to get a better look at the location in which the LU is currently positioned. Configuration: LiveU Central enables you to manage groups of operators/lus/channels and to configure channels and CDNs. Smart Device Communication: LiveU Central enables LU-Lite and LU-Smart devices to communicate through the LiveU infrastructure. Enabling Ad Hoc Devices: LiveU Central enables non-liveu equipment running LU-Smart to temporarily communicate through the LiveU infrastructure. In LiveU Central, these devices are called ad hoc devices. Examples of ad hoc devices include smartphones and other smart devices. 13

Introducing LiveU Central Interrupted Feedback (IFB): LiveU Central provides a bidirectional audio channel to LU-Lite Mac device operators in the field. This enables LiveU Central personnel to broadcast verbal instructions or information about events to LU operators. Be First Events: LiveU Central enables you to define Be First (first on site) events that enable LU-Smart device users who are located in a designated area to film an event using their smart device. Properties Pane: Enhancements in the Properties Pane in the UNIT LIST tab enable you to restart an LU and to enable/disable an LU s modems, WiFi interfaces and LAN interfaces. DataBridge Support: The LiveU DataBridge feature enables point-to-multipoint transmission and reception of any kind of high-quality data from diverse locations, while adapting to dynamic network conditions. The DataBridge feature can be used for a variety of data connectivity solutions, such as for connecting a laptop in the field to a control station. LiveU MultiPoint: The LiveU MultiPoint cloud-based service is seamlessly integrated into LiveU Central, enabling broadcasters to share incoming live feeds simultaneously with multiple end-points over the Internet. MultiPoint enables broadcasters to distribute live video to a wider audience, optimizing their workflow and making the most of their content. Camera Integration with LiveU Central: Based on a joint commercial venture between LiveU and Panasonic, channel streaming can now be performed directly from supported Panasonic cameras to LU2000 servers managed by LiveU Central. Supported cameras have integrated LiveU connectivity and can stream video using a single modem. What s New in Version 6.0 The following features and enhancements are available in V6.0: Unit and server software upgrades directly from LiveU Central MPEG-TS support for the LU2000 server Least-cost bonding Improved video encoding efficiency/quality for 1080i video LU500 reduced unit boot-up time (1:15 minutes) NewTek Network Device Interface (NDI) connectivity 14

Introducing LiveU Central A video camera is connected to an LU live video uplink unit. The LU device s modems stream live video from the field through the Internet. The LiveU LU2000 server is usually located in a broadcasting center. The LU2000 server runs multiple Multi-Media Hub (MMH) instances. Each MMH instance receives (inputs) video streams from one LU device and reconstructs the original video signal(s) from each one. The MMH then outputs a single reconstructed video stream to the destination of your choice. This enables the transmitter to transparently ingest video streams from the field, as if the cameras were connected to the system via a long cable. A LiveU web server is connected via a secured link to the LU2000 running multiple MMHs in order to access the stream video. The web server is also connected to the LiveU database in order to authenticate users and to only allow them to manage and control the LU devices and MMHs to which they have been awarded permission. The LiveU Central enables remote access using a standard web browser (Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer) to the MMH (running on an LU2000 server) and the LUs through the LiveU web server. 16

3 Using the VIDEO MATRIX This chapter describes how to preview and assign LiveU field unit (LU) streams to be output to any destination, including SDI, MPEG-TS, RTMP, NDI or a multipoint distribution server. Introducing the VIDEO MATRIX The VIDEO MATRIX tab enables LiveU Central operators to preview, monitor and fully control LU units/feeds and output channels, thereby providing increased flexibility in daily operations. Input Feeds Output Channels 89

Using the VIDEO MATRIX Figure 88: LiveU Central VIDEO MATRIX Tab This window may display many previews, as follows: Outputs (Right Side): The OUTPUTS pane shows the output channels available for the selected group. An output channel is any channel that has a destination. It can either be an SDI coming from the LU2000 server or any IP stream directed to a CDN as RTMP or MPEG-TS. Feeds (Left Side): The FEEDS pane shows all the input feeds that can be assigned by an operator to a channel. Feeds include the following: All LiveU units, such as the LU200, LU500, LU700, LU-Smart and so on, regardless of whether they are currently streaming Any Panasonic camera Any multipoint input feed Each individual input feed window shows the name of the unit and the channel to which it is streaming. 90

Using the VIDEO MATRIX Streaming to a Preview Channel How To LUs can stream to either a regular output channel (MMH) or to a Preview Channel: Regular Channel: When an LU selects to stream to a regular channel, the output streams directly to the physical SDI port (on the LU2000 server) or directly to the CDN to which this channel is connected. This type of stream uses the maximum available bandwidth of the unit. Preview Channel: When an LU selects to stream to a preview channel (streaming to a group), the video is displayed in the VIDEO MATRIX tab in the FEEDS pane. This enables LiveU Central operators to preview the channel and then to dynamically assign the destination to which the video stream is directed and sent live. Preview channels do not use/block the existing output channels and can be used in parallel. Streaming to a preview channel consumes very low bandwidth from the unit's modems (around 500 Kbps per feed). Each LiveU server can have approximately10 preview channels. For more information, contact LiveU support. When an LU operator selects a preview channel for streaming, the system automatically selects one of the available preview channels. The LU device then displays the status Preview, as well as a green dot on the name of the channel. If there is no available resource in the Preview Channels area, which means that all Preview Channels in LiveU Central are currently occupied, then the LU receives a notification that the preview channel is busy and it cannot stream to that channel. NOTE The preview channels in LiveU Central always have the name of the current group. For example,. While streaming to a preview channel from the LU, the video is transmitted as a light stream (at a low bandwidth and with a low frame rate). After a LiveU Central operator allocates a preview channel to an output channel, it is streamed at the defined bandwidth and frame rate. The LU device then displays the status Live. 91

Using the VIDEO MATRIX Input Feeds The FEEDS pane in the VIDEO MATRIX tab shows a preview of the streams currently being transmitted from various LUs. These feeds can be assigned to either a preview channel or to an output channel. Figure 89: VIDEO MATRIX Tab FEEDS Pane 92

Using the VIDEO MATRIX Output Channels The OUTPUTS pane in the VIDEO MATRIX tab shows the output channels to which input feeds can be directed. Output channels can represent a specific SDI port or a CDN/MPEG-TS/NDI stream. These are the channels that can send video to any specific destination. Output channels also support multipoint distribution. Figure 90: VIDEO MATRIX Tab OUTPUTS Pane After an output stops streaming, then that output is available to be assigned a different video feed. 93

Using the VIDEO MATRIX Filtering Displayed Input Feeds and Output Channels You can filter the displayed input feeds and output channels using the respective Quick Filter in the FEEDS or OUTPUTS pane at the top of the window, as shown below. There is a dedicated filter for both the FEEDS and OUTPUTS panes. After a filter is applied, a blue frame appears around the filter icon in order to indicate that a filter is currently active. Figure 91: Filtering Displayed Input Feeds 94

Using the VIDEO MATRIX Figure 92: Filtering Displayed Outputs 95

Using the VIDEO MATRIX Connecting an Input Feed to an Output Channel In order to stream an input feed (received from an LU) to a destination, the feed must be assigned to an output channel. Two methods are available for streaming to an output channel, both of which are described below. To stream to an output channel: Do one of the following: In the VIDEO MATRIX tab, select a feed, click the channel dropdown list and select the required channel. Once selected, click the Play/Stream button. Streaming is possible only to available channels (marked in green). Figure 93: Streaming to an Output Channel 1 Or 96

Using the VIDEO MATRIX In the VIDEO MATRIX tab, simply drag an input feed in the FEEDS pane by its preview area onto an output channel in the OUTPUTS pane. 1 Drag an Input Feed window 2 Onto an Output Channel window Figure 94: LiveU Central VIDEO MATRIX Tab This sends the stream out live to the designated destination. After doing so, the status of the LU that is streaming the video and the relevant output channel change to Live. Note that once assigned to an output, the video streams at full bandwidth and frame rate, and not as a light stream (meaning not at a low bandwidth and with a low frame rate). After connecting an input feed to an output channel, the UNIT LIST shows that the LU is no longer streaming to a group, but to a local interface. 97

Using the VIDEO MATRIX Use Cases The Video Matrix enables you to perform many of the same operations that you can perform in the UNIT LIST tab. This section describes several use cases for using the Video Matrix to perform such operations. 105 4 Using Maps This chapter describes how to display the position of LiveU field units (LUs) on a map, how to define, generate and delete Be First events, and how to use the LiveU Community feature. Introducing LiveU Central Maps The UNITS MAP tab enables you to view the location of LUs on a standard map and to zoom in to Google Maps Street View in order to get a better look at the location in which the LU is currently positioned. The location of an LU400, LU500 or LU Smart is determined by GPS. The location of an LU70, LU700 SV, LU40 or LU Lite is determined by cellular information. Displaying an LU on a Map To display an LU on a Map: 1 In the UNITS UNIT LIST tab, select the row of an LU unit. For example, as shown below: Figure 106: Selecting an LU from the UNIT LIST 105

Using Maps 2 Click the UNITS MAP tab. The following window is displayed showing a map of the area around the selected LU. Figure 107: LU on Map LU Name and Location You can click the LU to display its name and possibly its location too. Figure 108: Displaying LU Name and Location on Map 106

Green: The LU is in idle mode, meaning that it is online, but not transmitting. Gray: The LU is offline. see the vicinity of the LU. Managing Be First Events What is a Be First Event? A Be First event is an event where something newsworthy has occurred that you want someone to film. For such events, you may not be able to get a camera crew to the event in time to film it. In such cases, you can call upon individuals who have the LU-Smart application running on their smart device to film the event. Such individuals may be the first on site, and offer a quick, simple solution for filming the event. The LU-Smart application enables anyone to transfer live video using their smart device (iphone, ipad or Android phone), without any dedicated equipment, such as a camera or LiveU hardware device. For more details about LU-Smart, see the LiveU LU-Smart User Guide. 107

Using Maps How Do Be First Events Work? When something newsworthy occurs for which you may not have a camera crew available, you can set up a Be First event for it in LiveU Central. After a Be First event is defined in LiveU Central, the event can be generated in the system, which automatically sends a popup message to all the LU-Smart device users in the designated event area. These LU-Smart device users can then easily activate the LU-Smart application on their smart device and begin filming the event. LiveU Central handles all the other details. To define a Be First event: 1 Click the MAP tab to display the following: Figure 110: MAP Tab 108

Using Maps 2 Click the button at the top right of the window. By default, the cursor changes to a grid selection icon, which you use to select a rectangular area on the map representing where the Be First event has occurred. Figure 111: Selecting the Be First Event Area on the Map After clicking the button, three tools appear on the map beneath it. Alternatively, you can use the Circle instead of a rectangular one. tool to draw a circular area on the map Use the Hand tool to pan the map. 109

Using Maps After you have selected an area of interest on the map (using either the Rectangle tool or the Circle tool), the New BeFirst Event window opens, which indicates the number of people who are in the designated area that are running the LU-Smart application. Figure 113: New BeFirst Event Window The New BeFirst Event window displays the following information and enables you to perform the following actions: Number of devices in area: Specifies the number of devices running LU-Smart that are currently in the designated area. Number of preview channels in group: Specifies the number of preview channels for the devices in the LiveU Central inventory that are currently in the designated area. Number of output channels in group: Specifies the number of output channels for the devices in the LiveU Central inventory that are currently in the designated area. 110

Using Maps Delete machines from group after BeFirst expiration: Check the checkbox and then click the dropdown menu to specify when to remove units from the group, after a Be First event has expired. Figure 114: Delete Machines from Group After BeFirst Expiration Event name: Specifies a name for the event. BeFirst Event Description: Provides a short description of the event. It is recommended to include how much time the LU-Smart device user has to film the event as part of the description. This description appears as a popup message on the LU-Smart user s device. Generate BeFirst Event: Click this button to activate the Be First event. This action sends a popup message to the LU-Smart device users in the designated area. For more details, see the Generating Be First Events section on page 111. Reselect Area: Click this button to reselect an area on the map. You can change the area of interest, even for Be First events that have already been defined. Cancel: Click this button to cancel the setup of a Be First event. Generating Be First Events When LiveU Central generates a Be First event (by clicking the Generate BeFirst Event button), it automatically sends a popup message to the LU-Smart device users in the designated event area. This popup provides a brief description of the event, such as Celebrity ABC was seen entering the XYZ restaurant. Usually, the description also includes a timeframe for filming the event. After receiving a Be First event popup message, the LU-Smart device user only needs to click the message to automatically start the LU-Smart application on his/her device. LiveU Central handles everything else. 111

Using Maps Once the LU-Smart device user clicks the message, he/she is prompted to confirm. Upon confirmation, the following occur: When the LU-Smart device user clicks Yes, the: LU-Smart device is automatically added to the current user group in LiveU Central where the Be First event was generated. This occurs even if the device is already part of another group. The LU-Smart device remains in any other groups to which it was previously assigned. Virtual channels (which indicate the group name) are automatically set as the selected channel on the LU-Smart device. When the LU-Smart device user clicks No, then the LU-Smart application remains open on the LU-Smart device, but nothing else happens in LiveU Central. After confirmation, the LU-Smart device begins transmitting the preview channels. There can be only one Be First event per user group. If you attempt to create more than one Be First event for the same user group, then the following message displays: Figure 115: Cannot Associate More Than One Be First Event to Group Message In this case, you may want to create a new group for each Be First event that occurs. If there is no one with the LU-Smart application in the designated event area, then the following message displays: Figure 116: No LU-Smart Devices in the Be First Event Area 112

5 Managing LiveU Entities This chapter describes how to add, edit and view LiveU Central Groups and Users. These options are only displayed for administrators. Managing Groups LiveU Central enables administrators to define a group that contains LiveU Central users, LiveU field units (LUs) and channels (MMHs). Administrators are responsible for creating the Groups to be used by regular users. Each LiveU Central user is assigned to one or more groups. Each LiveU Central user can access the LU devices and channels in the group to which he/she is assigned according to their login user name and password. For example, all the LUs used by a specific news team might be assigned to a specific LiveU Central group that has the same name as the news team. A team leader may be assigned access to all the LiveU Central groups for which he/she is responsible. An LU, channel and/or user can belong to multiple Groups at the same time. NOTE LiveU Central provides a default group that contains all LUs and channels. The default group is defined by LiveU Professional Services. 113

The Add New Preset window displays (see Figure 131). 3 Enter a name for the preset and click Save. The new preset now appears in the list of presets in the left pane. Configuring Channels Channel configuration is defined per channel. NOTE If you modify the settings for a channel whose channel definition was based on a streaming present, any changes made to the channel definition do not affect the settings for the streaming preset on which is was based, or any other channel that was defined based on that same streaming preset. The following channel types can be defined: IP Streaming Channel, page 129 Multipoint Channel, page 135 NDI (Network Device Interface), page 135 Configuring IP Streaming Channels Introduction The LU provides several streaming options that enable you to stream to both the Internet and SDI simultaneously, or to only the Internet or SDI. Streaming to the Internet is achieved via a Content Delivery Network (CDN) connection. In order to stream to a specific CDN, such as YouTube, DaCast, Akamai, LimeLight and UStream, you must have an account with that CDN provider. Streaming to Facebook is also available using an LU unit. After you create a CDN account with a provider, that provider sends you a set of parameters for connecting to its CDN. These parameters are used by LiveU to connect to the CDN. NOTE You cannot modify the configuration of a CDN while it is streaming. 129

Working with CHANNELS Configuration How To The CHANNELS tab is used to configure the parameters for streaming via the Internet to a specific CDN. The CHANNELS tab includes all parameters required by any CDN. Different CDNs may send only some of the parameters displayed in the CHANNELS tab. You only need to enter the ones provided by the CDN. All others can remain empty and are optional. Figure 132: CHANNELS Tab NOTE If you cannot connect to a CDN, contact LiveU Support. The procedure below describes how to configure general parameters for a CDN. You can also configure a CDN s parameters for a specific MMH. To configure an IP streaming channel: 1 Click MANAGE CHANNELS to open the CHANNEL list. 2 Select the channel that you want to configure in the channel list by checking its checkbox. 130

Working with CHANNELS 3 At the far right of the selected channel row, click the Settings button. The Channel Configuration window displays: Figure 133: Channel Configuration Window This window contains three tabs. Details describing each tab are provided below. 4 Click the STREAMING tab. Use this tab to configure the IP streaming for the channel. 5 Define the streaming settings for the channel either by entering applicable values in the fields in the window, or by assigning a streaming preset to the channel. When assigning a streaming preset, the values in the window are automatically populated with the settings specified for the preset. Changing the preset value is also possible. In this case, the configuration is not saved to the preset, but only to the specific channel. Switching the Streaming button to OFF deletes the configuration for the specific channel. When turning it ON again, the configuration must be entered again (manually or with a preset). Any new configuration can be saved as a new preset by clicking the Save as Preset button. 131

Working with CHANNELS RTMP IP streaming using RTMP is the most common way to stream to a CDN. 135 Working with CHANNELS To save the channel settings as a streaming preset, define the settings for the channel as described above, and then click the Save as Preset button. NOTE The MMH can handle only one CDN configuration at a time. The LU2000 runs multiple MMH instances (channels). Configuring MultiPoint Channels For more details about how to configure multipoint channel settings, you may refer to the Configuring Server Settings section on page 161. Configuring Network Device Interface Channels Network Device Interface (NDI) channels can be used to enable multiple video systems to identify and communicate with one another over IP, and to encode, transmit and receive many streams of high-quality, low-latency, frame-accurate video and audio in real time. This new protocol can benefit any network-connected video device, including video mixers, graphics systems, capture cards and many other production devices. NDI s superb performance over standard GigE networks makes it possible to transition facilities to an incredibly versatile IP video production pipeline without negating existing investments in SDI cameras and infrastructure, or costly new high-speed network infrastructures. LiveU has partnered with NewTek to implement the NDI protocol in the LiveU system. It enables an LU unit to stream to NewTek s Tricaster product via an NDI IP interface, as shown below: NDI IP Interface LU500 LU2000 Server NewTek TriCaster Figure 137: Channel Configuration NDI 135

Working with CHANNELS To enable NDI on a channel: 1 In the Channel Configuration window, select the NDI tab. The following window displays: Figure 138: Channel Configuration NDI 2 Set the Enable NDI Stream button to ON. 3 Click OK. 136

7 Managing Software Upgrades This chapter describes how to download and apply software version updates on LiveU Central-registered devices. Introduction Beginning with V6.0, LiveU Central enables full software upgrade management and control by the administrator. The administrator can download and apply version updates on LU units and servers as needed, providing a faster, simplified upgrade process. Administrators can determine when and on what units to apply new software versions. The new software upgrade mechanism is available for all LU units, excluding LU70, LU-Smart and LU-Lite. The upgrade flow is as follows: 1 The LiveU support team assigns a new version for upgrade. The version appears to the admin user under the SW Versions tab. 2 The admin user can assign a target version to all units/server or only to specific ones: Units: Units with a new target version prompt the user to upgrade the unit via a popup message every time the unit is powered up. The user can decide to postpone the upgrade until later. Assigning a target version to a unit can be performed for offline units too. Server/Xtender: Assigning a target version for a server or Xtender initiates the upgrade immediately. Upgrades are allowed only if the server/xtender is online and not streaming. For servers, all the channels must not be in streaming mode. NOTE The LiveU server must be upgraded before the units. LiveU servers support backward compatibility and can accept streams from units with older versions. 137

Managing Software Upgrades Reviewing Available Software Versions The MANAGE SW VERSION tab shows all software versions available to you, and includes all software versions made available to you by LiveU at any point in time. Each row represents a different software version. Figure 139: SW VERSIONS Tab When selecting a version in the list, the panel on the right shows the relevant information regarding that version, including the: Version description Link to the release notes Supported devices The SW Versions tab is mainly informative. A software upgrade procedure is managed using the MANAGE DEVICES tab, as described on page

Managing Software Upgrades Managing Software Upgrades The MANAGE DEVICES tab lists all the LU units, servers, Xtenders, cameras and so on registered on LiveU Central. Software version updates are applied to LiveU Central-registered devices using this tab. Figure 140: DEVICES Tab The S/W VERSION column in the DEVICES tab specifies the name of the currently installed software version on the device. The TARGET VERSION column in the DEVICES tab specifies the software version to be installed on the device. This version can be either an old or new software version. The administrator can download and apply software version upgrades beginning with V6.0. Upgrades to V6.0 are performed by LiveU support. NOTES In future LiveU versions, you will be able to download and install a previous software version. For example, in V6.5, you will be able to install V6.4, if needed. The device always stores two software versions. Should an upgrade fail, the software version on the device returns to the existing version. 139

Managing Software Upgrades Upgrading the Software Version on a Device You can upgrade the software version for a group of like devices simultaneously. All devices must be of the same device type, such as LU500 units, LU700 units, Xtenders and so on. Only the differences between versions are installed during a software upgrade. The time it takes to apply a software varies, depending on the extent of the changes in the version and the size of the upgrade. Most upgrades take between 5 20 minutes to complete. Prior to V6.0, the software update process flushed the device and then installed the upgrade from scratch. NOTES Prior to V6.0, pressing the Factory Defaults button on a device returned that device to the original software version installed on the device. Beginning with V6.0, the Factory Defaults button returns the device to the previous software version installed on the device (meaning one version back from the current version on the device). During an upgrade, it is recommended to connect the unit to a power supply and high-speed Internet connection; however, this is not mandatory. When needed, upgrades can be performed in the field. Be sure to upgrade the server version first, before that on LU units. The server software version must be greater than or equal to the version on the LU unit. Server software upgrades are applied immediately. 140

Managing Software Upgrades To upgrade the software version on a device: 1 In the MANAGE DEVICES tab, check the checkbox in the device row that you want to upgrade. 2 Click the button. The Upgrade Version window displays: Figure 141: Upgrade Version Window IMPORTANT! Be sure that the software version on the server has been upgraded, before upgrading the version on the LU unit. 141

Managing Software Upgrades 3 In the applicable Device Type dropdown list, select the software version to be installed on the units of that type. For example, the figure below shows software version selection for LU500 units in the LU500 dropdown list. Only software versions relevant to that device type display in the list. Figure 142: Upgrade Version Window Software Version Selection 4 Click OK. A popup message displays the next time the device powers up, in order to indicate that a new software version is available for the device, as shown below: LU200 LU500 Figure 143: Software Upgrade Popup Messages 142

Managing Software Upgrades After the upgrade process begins, a progress bar displays, showing the progress of the upgrade process. NOTE Alternatively, you can activate a software upgrade for a device from the About window for that device. After the target software version is upgraded on a device, the S/W VERSION column is updated to show the new version for it and the TARGET VERSION column is blank. 143

8 Managing FILES This chapter describes how to browse, play and broadcast the files stored by LiveU field units (LUs) on an LU2000 server. Introduction The LU devices can transfer prerecorded files or documents to the MMH using their FTP or Store & Forward feature. The LiveU Central FILES tab enables you to remotely browse, play and delete these files on the MMH. The FILES tab is only active for MMHs that are on the same LAN as the computer that is running LiveU Central. 145

Managing FILES Browsing MMH Files To browse through the files on the LU2000 server: 1 Click the FILES tab to display the following: Figure 144: FILES Tab 2 Click the User Groups dropdown menu and select the group whose MMHs and LUs you want to view. Only the groups to which you have permission (according to your user name and password) appear in the dropdown menu. A list of the files transferred to the selected group is then displayed. 146

Managing FILES 3 To filter the list of displayed files: If the FILTERS pane is not displayed, then click its expand button. Check the radio button of the filtering option in the FILTERS pane to filter the displayed list. Click here to expand the FILTERS pane Check the checkboxes by which to filter Figure 145: FILES Tab Filtering 147

Managing FILES 4 To preview a file, check the checkbox of the file row you want to preview. Then, click the button at the far right of the row. A preview window for the file opens. Click here to preview Figure 146: File Preview 5 If the file is a video or audio file, you can press the Play button to play it. You can then use the slider to skip forwards or backwards. You can also use the audio controls or mute options. 148

Managing FILES Broadcasting Click the Broadcast button in the row of a file in the list to broadcast it on the SDI output of the LU2000 server. After you click the Broadcast button, the button changes to a red Stop Broadcast button. Click the Stop Broadcast button to terminate the broadcast. NOTE The Broadcast option is only for broadcasting to SDI and not to a CDN. This option is only available for *.mkv files. Figure 147: FILES Tab Broadcasting 1 Note that whenever the FILES list is refreshed, the Stop Broadcast button no longer displays. This is the case even for files that may still be broadcasting (for example, if the file was a very large file). In this case, whenever you return to the FILES list to broadcast to the same destination, then a message displays, asking if you want to stop the previous broadcast. Click Yes to stop the previous broadcast. Figure 148: FILES Tab Broadcasting 2 149

Managing FILES Downloading Click the Download button in the row of a file in the list to download the selected file to your computer. This button enables you to download a file, after it has been completely uploaded to the server. Using the Get Chunk Tool During a file upload to the server, the file row in the files list displays the Get Chunk button. Each time you click this button, the part of the video transferred up to that point during a Store & Forward session is displayed as a separate row in the files list, as shown in Figure 149. _partx.mp4 is appended to the filename for each such row, where X indicates the part (portion) of the video transferred up to that point. For example, Figure 149 shows five parts for the video named 0026_150528_ mp4: part1, part2, part3, part4 and part5. Each video part only includes the video from the point where the previous part left off, up to the current point. Figure 149: FILES Tab Get Chunk Video Parts After the Store & Forward session completes, the Get Chunk icon changes to the Download button, indicating that file uploading to the server has completed. Renaming Double-click a file to Rename it. NOTE For a description of how to delete items, refresh a list, filter items, sort items and define columns in a list, you may refer to the General List Functionality section on page

9 Using LiveU MultiPoint This chapter describes the LiveU MultiPoint feature, how it works and how to configure and use it. Overview LiveU s MultiPoint cloud-based IP video distribution service enables video from the field to be streamed from office to office or from an LU unit to multiple offices. In the MultiPoint service, video can be streamed from one LU2000 server and distributed to one or more other LU2000 servers. This feature requires a licensed LiveU add-on. The cloud-based MultiPoint service is seamlessly integrated into LiveU Central to enable incoming live feeds to be shared simultaneously with multiple end-points over the Internet. Figure 150: LiveU Multipoint Flow 151

Using LiveU MultiPoint LiveU MultiPoint uses three primary components in the MultiPoint flow: Publisher Server: The Publisher receives the video source from any LU device and then shares that video stream. The Publisher is a software-only component that is based on an LU2000 output channel. Distribution Server: The Distribution server distributes the live video feed to one or more LU2000s (Subscribers). This component can be either a cloud-based server or a physical server located on premises (local). Subscriber Server: The Subscriber represents the receiving side of the shared video stream. The Subscriber is based on a LiveU LU2000 output channel. A Subscriber is an LU2000 server that is located at a broadcasting station. In some configurations, the Publisher and Distributer can be deployed on the same server. Technical Capabilities LiveU s MultiPoint feature offers the following key advantages and technical capabilities: Low Delay: Distributes video with minimal delay for up to 100 concurrent destinations via the LiveU cloud-based Distribution server, without requiring additional bandwidth at the point of origin. Requires No Additional Hardware: Any existing LiveU server running the latest software can begin receiving and transmitting MultiPoint feeds. Scalability: Supports up to 100 destinations/subscribers per flow. On-the-fly Management: Enables you to add and remove streams from sharing on-demand, while the video is streaming. Easy Management Via a Single User Interface: MultiPoint is fully integrated into the LiveU Central browser-based cloud management platform. Non-Guaranteed Internet Connection: MultiPoint can send high-quality video even without a guaranteed Internet connection. By using intelligent Adaptive Bitrate Distribution algorithms, MultiPoint optimizes live video delivery to different classes of receivers, either over the public Internet or over an organization's private fiber connectivity, thereby providing enhanced resiliency and scalability. Send Video from Any Source to Any Destination: Any LiveU device or application can transmit either to a physical LiveU server for re-distribution to other locations with minimal delay, or feed directly into the LiveU cloud Distribution server to be shared in real time with all destinations. 152

Using LiveU MultiPoint Solution Options LiveU MultiPoint can be configured for both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions, as described below. Point-to-Point Solutions In a point-to point distribution configuration, the LU2000 serves as both the Publisher server and the Distribution server. In this configuration, both of these components reside in the same machine. Figure 151: Point-to-Point Solution In a point-to-point configuration, the video feed streams from the LU unit to the Publisher. The Publisher then forwards the stream to the Distribution server, which in turn sends it on via the Internet to a single LU2000 Subscriber, as shown in Figure 151. Point-to-Multipoint Solutions LiveU MultiPoint offers the following point-to-multipoint configurations: Direct Streaming to the Distribution Server, page 153 Streaming Through a Local LU2000 Publisher Server, page 154 Direct Streaming to the Distribution Server In this configuration, the LU unit streams directly to the cloud-based Distribution server. Both the Publisher server and the Distribution server are cloud-based. The Distribution server can stream to up to 100 LU2000 Subscribers. This is the most flexible and scalable configuration for LiveU Multipoint. Figure 152: Point-to-Multipoint Solution Direct Streaming to Distribution Server 153

Using LiveU MultiPoint Streaming Through a Local LU2000 Publisher Server In this configuration, the video streams from the LU unit to the local LiveU Publisher/SDI server, which in turn sends the video to the Distribution server. In Figure 153, the Publisher streams the video to a cloud-based Distribution server, which in turn streams the video to up to 100 Subscribers. Figure 153: Point-to-Multipoint Solution Cloud-based Distribution Server Managing MultiPoint in LiveU Central The following describes how to configure and operate LiveU MultiPoint. MultiPoint Workflow The following describes the general workflow for LiveU MultiPoint. When enabling LiveU Multipoint, lives feeds can be shared both inside and outside the organization. By default, you can share video with all of the groups/inventories to which you belong. Sharing within an organization involves the following steps: 1 Define the server to be used as the Publisher/Distributer server. You may refer to the Configuring Publisher Server and Distribution Server Settings section on page 155 and the Configuring Server Settings section on page 161 for more details. 2 Share the video. The Publisher defines from which channels sharing is allowed. The Sharing button appears on a streaming device row in LiveU Central when streaming to that channel. You may refer to the Sharing Videos How To section on page 155 for more details. 154

Using LiveU MultiPoint Configuring Publisher Server and Distribution Server Settings To configure Publisher server and Distribution server settings: 1 The Publisher enables the video feed to be shared and adds the Subscriber to its Sharing list. This action adds a new device (Publisher) to the Subscriber s device list. You may refer to the Sharing Videos How To section on page 155 for more details. 2 The Subscriber transmits the shared video stream to any output channel in its inventory group. You may refer to the Transmitting Shared Video Streams section on page 158 for more details. Sharing Videos How To On the Publisher Side The following describes how the Publisher shares video feeds with the Subscriber. When a Publisher enables sharing, it shares a specific channel for the video feed. The icon at the far right of a row in the Publisher s device list identifies a Subscriber video feed that can be shared. When you click this icon, the configuration is applied on the channel and not on the unit. The color of this icon varies, as follows: Gray: Indicates that sharing is disabled for the video feed. Green: Indicates that sharing is enabled, but there is no video stream. Red: Indicates that sharing is enabled, and there is an active video on the channel (not necessarily from the specific unit). 155

Using LiveU MultiPoint To share a video feed channel with a Subscriber: 1 Do one of the following: In the Publisher s device list, click the icon in the video feed row to be shared. Figure 154: Selecting the Channel to be Shared 1 Or In the OUTPUTS pane of the VIDEO MATRIX, click the icon of the output to be shared. Figure 155: Selecting the Channel to be Shared 2 156

Using LiveU MultiPoint The following window displays: Figure 156: Multipoint Sharing Options Window 2 Fill in the following fields: Sharing: Enables/disables channel sharing. Click ON to enable sharing and OFF to disable sharing. Stream Name: Specifies the channel name to be shared. 3 Check the applicable checkboxes for the groups with which to share the video feed, as follows: My Groups: Groups that are associated with the user and under his/her inventory. Partner Groups: Groups that are part of the same media group. External Groups: Groups that are shared with external partners by the community or LiveU support. 4 Click OK. 157

Using LiveU MultiPoint On the Subscriber Side The Subscriber s device list lists all incoming video feeds from an LU unit or Publisher. After a Publisher adds a Subscriber to its sharing list, as described on page 155 and sharing is enabled for that feed, a new row appears in the Subscriber s device list for that Publisher, regardless of whether or not the video has started streaming. Figure 157: Subscriber Device List NOTE LU units are also listed in the Subscriber s device list, regardless of whether or not they are transmitting. The Name column specifies the name that the Subscriber defined for the Publisher. After the Publisher begins transmitting the video feed, the Subscriber receives it as a preview. The Subscriber must designate the output channel to be used for transmitting the video, as described in the Transmitting Shared Video Streams section on page 158. Transmitting Shared Video Streams On the Subscriber Side Each row in the Subscriber s device list represents a Publisher s channel. Figure 158: Subscriber Device List 158

Using LiveU MultiPoint For a Subscriber to stream a Publisher channel, you must take control of the MultiPoint feed and specify the output to be used for transmitting. Video can be output to SDI (or CDN). To do so, select the required MultiPoint feed. Then, in the channels area of the Property pane, check the checkbox(s) of the channel(s) to receive the video feed. The video then begins streaming to the selected servers. Figure 159: Property Pane The icon in the channels area of the Property pane indicates an SDI output channel. The color of the icon can vary, as follows: Green: Indicates an idle channel, with no video. Red: Indicates that the Subscriber is sending the video to the designated output channel. To start a stream, check the applicable output channel checkbox in the Property pane. To stop a stream, uncheck its checkbox. Figure 160: Starting/Stopping a Stream 159

Using LiveU MultiPoint NOTE After you check a channel checkbox, then that channel is not available for use by a different Publisher stream, because it is currently busy. You can preview the channel from the Publisher stream by selecting UNITS VIDEO MATRIX. Multipoint input feeds appear on the left side of the VIDEO MATRIX in the FEEDS pane. From the matrix, they can either be assigned to an output using the dropdown menu or dragged and dropped onto an output channel. Figure 161: Publisher Channel Preview 160

Using LiveU MultiPoint Configuring Server Settings A Publisher server must be paired with a Distribution server. In addition, the Publisher server can define whether it and the Distribution server are both on the same machine. When configuring a channel as a Distribution server, the distribution channel is bound to a customer output channel and cannot be used as an independent channel. To configure a channel as a dedicated Distribution server: 1 In the MANAGE CHANNELS tab, select the checkbox in the row of the channel to be configured as the Distribution server. The Channel Configuration window opens (see Figure 133). 2 Select the Multipoint tab. The following window displays: Figure 162: Channel Configuration Multipoint 161

Using LiveU MultiPoint 2 Fill in the following fields in the window: Share directly from this channel (Recommended): Allows direct steaming from this channel to different LiveU servers. Uplink bandwidth is taken into consideration when sharing from local servers. Contact LiveU support for more information. Use different channel for distribution: Uses a dedicated distribution channel for sharing the video to many destinations. In most cases, this distribution channel is deployed in the cloud by LiveU. In the Distribute via field, specify the specific distribution channel available in the group for distributing the video. Use this channel as distributor only (for other channels): When this option is selected, the selected channel works as a distribution channel only, and can no longer be selected as a regular channel. NOTES The Publisher server, Distribution server and Subscriber server are all LU2000 servers and contain the same LiveU software. In order to differentiate between them, you must set the relevant configuration options for each in the Sharing section described above. After a channel is defined as a Distribution server, it is removed from the channels list and you cannot stream to that channel. Sharing Options: Enables you to enable video sharing and specify subscribers for a shared video, as described in the Sharing Videos How To section on page Click OK. 162

10 Streaming to Social Media Beginning with LiveU Central V6.1, LiveU now supports direct streaming from LiveU units to Facebook Live (through LiveU servers). Streaming to Facebook Live is based on one-click integration, providing a very quick and easy workflow. Facebook streaming is only supported from LiveU Central and cannot be managed from a LiveU unit. Streaming to Facebook can be performed in parallel to any SDI streaming or only to Facebook based on a preview channel. NOTE NOTE One-click Facebook integration requires server V6.1.2 or higher. Facebook streaming requires CPU resources from the server. Use the LiveU CPU calculator to confirm that your server can support it. 163

Streaming to Social Media Configuring Streaming Parameters Facebook streaming parameters are configured globally and are applied to all of the sessions performed by the group. Streaming configuration will be supported in LiveU Central V6.2. You can either select a predefined recommended profile or manually define the exact resolution and bitrate for the streaming. Figure 163: Social Media Streaming Settings 164

Streaming to Social Media Streaming to Facebook Using an SDI Channel To stream to Facebook using an SDI channel, start streaming from the unit using the Unit Panel tab. Figure 164: Streaming to Facebook Using an SDI Channel 165

Streaming to Social Media While the unit is streaming, click the Go Live button. If the PC browser is not logged in to Facebook, the following Facebook login appears. NOTE Make sure that your browser does not have popup blocking. Figure 165: Facebook Login After logging in to Facebook, you specify where to share the video (timeline or group). In the window below, you can also replace the Facebook user and log in again with different user. Figure 166: Facebook Where to Share the Video 166

Streaming to Social Media Clicking Next starts server streaming to Facebook. In this mode, the video is streamed only as a preview and is not yet posted on Facebook. The Unit Panel indicates that Facebook is in Preview mode. From this point forward, you can stop Facebook streaming at any time without affecting the SDI output. When you stop streaming, the Facebook session terminates immediately. Figure 167: Stopping Streaming to Facebook On Facebook, a new popup window opens, displaying the preview being streamed from the LiveU server. 167

Streaming to Social Media This popup window is the last step before going live. The window below is also used to insert all the relevant information regarding the Facebook post (post name, video tags, embedding options and so on). Figure 168: Entering Details to Post to Facebook Clicking Go Live closes the popup window and immediately posts the live video in the Facebook account. 168
