5 SECTION 1 Overview f the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint Kaltura s Vide Extensin fr SharePint seamlessly integrates the Kaltura Online Vide Platfrm within an rganizatin s SharePint installatin. The Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint ffers: A media repsitry fr adding, managing, searching and reusing media cntent A Web Part fr displaying vide and playlists, including advanced metadata and subtitling ptins A Kaltura Media Field fr inserting cntent in pages, including custmizatin f visual and data display. All cntent and metadata can als be accessed in a central lcatin thrugh the Kaltura Management Cnsle, and Kaltura s rbust APIs. Hsting and Deplyment Optins The Kaltura web part is installed n the custmer SharePint server, and affects all site cllectins within that server. The rich-media cntent, its metadata as well as the specific publishing settings and usage infrmatin that are stred in the Kaltura system, can be hsted by Kaltura, with n need fr a CDN relatinship r vide streaming slutin, r can be hsted by custmers as part f a self-hsted deplyment f Kaltura s vide platfrm. Kaltura ffers new pssibilities fr Vide-Enabled and is ideal fr building the fllwing: Enterprise Training Center Crprate Cmmunicatin Prtal Crprate Archive Scial Sharing Site Institutinal Media Repsitry Enterprise Training Center Use Kaltura tls t capture presentatins and meetings, and rganize them in a knwledge center. The Kaltura Management Cnsle (KMC) gives yu full cntrl f assigning vides t sites, allwing yu t easily rganize and present hundreds f vides. Easy End-User Media Uplading and Authring enables users t uplad and share their wn vides frm desktp, webcam and mbile surces. Easily mderate submissins and manage blcking f trublesme users. All vides are hsted and mnitred by Kaltura in fully redundant and replicated data centers, preventing SharePint frm stalling under the weight f vide files. Vide streaming is enabled thrugh Kaltura s tier 1 glbal CDN partners, ensuring state-fthe-art vide quality wrldwide. Security is built in; cntent can be restricted t the firewall perimeter. 7 SECTION 2 Installatin This sectin describes hw t install the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint. The installatin package cntains the fllwing file: Kaltura Extensin.wsp cntains the Web Part cde. Prerequisites Yu are using SharePint Server Yu must be a SharePint farm administratr. Yu must have the ability t add a new surce t the event lg (mst administratrs have this capability). Required skills: Yu shuld knw hw t deply slutins t a SharePint server. T install the Kaltura SharePint Extensin In the Kaltura Management Cnsle (KMC), create a rt categry (fr example: SharePint ). The SharePint categry is the rt categry frm which all cntent is streamed t the SharePint users. Yu can cnfigure multiple SharePint servers (fr example, multiple extensin instances) by pinting the server lcatins t different rt categry. In the SharePint management shell, run the fllwing cmmand: add-spslutin LiteralPath <path t the SharePint executable filename> Access the SharePint site Central Admin. a. Access Slutin Management. This is usually fund at the URL: name:centraladminprt/_admin/slutins.aspx b. Deply the slutin in the apprpriate web applicatin. c. G t Site Cllectin features and activate the feature Kaltura Vide Extensin. d. Cnfigure the Kaltura Partner Settings. T remve the Kaltura SharePint Extensin Deactivate the feature in the Site Cllectin. Retract the slutin in Central Admin. This remves all data related t the feature. 8 SECTION 3 Initial Cnfiguratin The initial cnfiguratin f the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint shuld be perfrmed by the site administratr. The cnfiguratin impacts all sites in the cllectin. T cnfigure the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint, yu shuld have administrative rights n the Web site, including ManageSubwebs, ManagePermissins, and ManageWeb permissins. By Default, Full Cntrl permissin level includes these rights. Partner Settings The Partner Settings are used t map the infrmatin frm the Kaltura Management cnsle (KMC) t the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint. Yu will need a partner ID t cnfigure the Partner Settings. T btain r access yur Kaltura Partner ID, Fr existing accunts: G t the KMC and select Settings> Integratin Settings and cpy yur Partner ID. If yu d nt have a Kaltura accunt: Select Site Actins > Site Settings and then under Kaltura Media Settings click Partner Settings. Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint User Guide 8

9 Initial Cnfiguratin Use the link Obtain Partner ID t create a Partner ID. Alternatively, yu can g t and sign up. T cnfigure the Kaltura Partner Settings Select Site Actins>Site Settings. Select Partner Settings under Kaltura Media Settings". Enter the fllwing: Service URL the URL f the Kaltura media server that hsts the media files and metadata. The default is Partner ID Admin Secret User Secret Rt Categry Name each SharePint Server shuld have a unique Rt Categry Name. (Optinal) Custm Data Prfile ID: Kaltura allws yu t add yur wn metadata schema by creating a prfile n the Kaltura server under Settings>Custm Data. The prfile can cntain varius custm fields. 10 Initial Cnfiguratin When yu create a schema with metadata in the KMC, the fields are displayed as additinal metadata fr the media items. When a partner prfile is cnfigured in the SharePint site, the cnfigured custm prfiles are displayed belw the edit field. (Optinal) Check the Allw users t brwse all Kaltura cntent checkbx t cntrl whether the media selectin is restricted t the current site and sub-sites. Rt Categry Name Each SharePint Server has a unique rt categry identified with it. The rt categry is created in the KMC. Yu may have multiple rt categries where each rt categry represents a different SharePint Server in yur rganizatin. In SharePint, the rt categry is defined in the Partner Settings Page. 11 Initial Cnfiguratin Kaltura Widget Settings The Widget Settings are used t cnfigure custm players, uplad widgets, webcam recrders r thumbnail recrders. The players that were created in the KMC Studi are listed in the drp dwn menu and can be used in the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint. T access the Kaltura Widget Settings Select Site Actins>Site Settings. Select Widget Settings under Kaltura Media Settings". The Kaltura Widgets Settings Windw is displayed. Kaltura Player Cnfiguratin The Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint uses a default player created in the KMC Studi. Only the web administratr that has administrative rights t the Web site, including ManageWeb permissins, can custmize the player. By default, Full Cntrl permissin levels include these rights. The player cnfiguratin is set per Site Cllectin and is nt inherited by the parent site. T custmize the player In the Kaltura Widgets Settings windw, select a player frm the drp dwn menu. r Click Create New Player. Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint User Guide 11

12 Kaltura Media Management The KMC lgin windw is displayed. Lgin t the KMC and create a player. Save. Refresh the page t display the player yu created. Custmizing the Widgets Yu can use the default widgets r custmize the fllwing widgets: Uplader Webcam Recrder Thumbnail Recrder Screen Capture Recrder T custmize the widgets Fr each widget in the Kaltura Widget Settings windw, check Use Default t use the widget that is inherited frm the parent site r enter the widget ID t custmize the widget. Click Set Default Settings t revert t the parent site setting. Click OK t save settings. Kaltura Media Management The Kaltura Media Admin page is the central lcatin fr managing all the Kaltura media n the site. Only the web administratr that has administrative rights t the Web site, including ManageWeb permissins. By default, Full Cntrl permissin levels include these rights. Using the Security Permissins The Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint includes the fllwing permissin grups: Kaltura Media Admin: Cntrls the media n the site; enables editing all media items upladed by anyne. Kaltura Media Cntributrs: Enables uplading media t the site. Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint User Guide 12

13 Kaltura Media Management T access the Media Management Page Select Site Actins > Manage Media. Alternatively, yu can access this page by ging t the Site Settings and selecting Manage Media under Kaltura Media Settings. Uplading Media thrugh the Media Admin Page Media may be upladed t the Kaltura server thrugh the KMC as well as thrugh the Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint via the Kaltura Media Admin page (accessed thrugh Manage Media). Fr the rt site, media is saved t the cnfigured rt categry n the Kaltura server. If yu uplad media frm the Kaltura Media Admin page, in a sub-site, the new categry is created in the KMC with the same name as the sub-site. Fr example, media was upladed frm the Kaltura Media Admin page, PressReleases sub-site. The new sub site created in the KMC is displayed accrdingly. Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint User Guide 13

14 Kaltura Media Management Cntrls in the Kaltura Media Admin Page Yu can uplad, imprt r delete media thrugh the Kaltura Media Admin Page. Uplad Cntent The fllwing ptins are available fr uplading cntent: Uplad Media: Opens the Uplad widget. When yu select the media type (vide r audi) and select the file, it uplads the file t Kaltura t the categry assciated with the site. Capture frm web cam: Allws yu t capture vide frm any web cam cnnected t yur PC and t uplad it directly t Kaltura. Capture frm screen: Allws yu t capture and recrd yur screen and uplad them Imprt Opens the KMC, and allws yu t imprt data frm yur Kaltura accunt t any site. 15 Kaltura Media Management Delete Cntent Deletes media bth frm Kaltura and frm the site. Fr multiple deletins, check all the items yu want t delete and click the Delete buttn. Actin Items fr Each Media Item Each item in the media list has an actin drp dwn menu: Edit item: Allws editing all metadata fr this media item. Edit thumbnail: Enables yu t play the vide and use a buttn t capture a new thumbnail. Mre advanced thumbnail capabilities are available in the KMC. Delete: T delete a single item, chse the Delete actin frm the item's drp dwn menu. Shw prperties: Allws yu t view the prperties f the media item, including custm metadata. Shw preview: Select Shw preview t play a preview f the media item in a player that pens in a new windw. Navigatin in the Kaltura Media Admin Page The list f sub-sites defined in the SharePint implementatin, is displayed n the left f the Kaltura Media Admin page. 16 SECTION 4 Media Lk Up and Filters Search and filtering capabilities are available thrugh the Kaltura Media Admin page. T limit the display t a specific grup f vides, yu can enter a search string in the Search bar. Search will lk fr matched data in all text strings assciated with the media, including name, descriptin and metadata. In additin, the fllwing filters are available: My media: Display nly media upladed by the currently lgged-in user. Current site and subsites media nly: This cntrls whether media selectin is restricted t the current site and subsites by cnfiguratin f cntent sharing in the Partner Settings. This allws yu t narrw the search t the specific site yu are currently brwsing instead f the entire SharePint server. Adding a Web Part After yu add a web part t a page, yu can custmize the web part. T add the Kaltura Media Web Part t a page Select edit in the page yu want t add the Web Part and then select Insert> Web Part. Select Kaltura and the Kaltura Media Web Part and click Add. 17 Adding a Web Part Select Edit frm the web part's drp-dwn menu t pen a cnfiguratin pane n the right. Edit Permissin: Only a Site Administratr, a Kaltura media administratr r a Kaltura Media cntributr can custmize the web part. 18 Adding a Web Part Web Part Prperties T cnfigure the Web Part prperties Enter the fllwing infrmatin: Web Part appearance - Select the layut f the web part and the metadata assciated with the media frm the Web Part appearance drpdwn. The available ptins are: Title nly: Display the title nly Full text n right side: Display all available metadata and the player n the right side player; Full text n bttm: Display all available metadata and the player n bttm. Single Entry - use this ptin t display a single media item. Kaltura Media ID - Select a specific media item t display. Click the edit bx t display the media selectr. Playlist: Tggle this ptin t cause the web part t display the first item frm a filtered playlist. Filter Keywrds: Define keywrds fr the search filter. 19 Embedding Kaltura Media as a Clumn in SharePint Lists If the keywrd bx is left empty, the search will match all media items. Fr example, if yu want t create a mst recent playlist r mst ppular playlist keep keywrds empty and check the relevant bxes. If the requested item des nt exist, the message N media fund! will be displayed Media types: Cntrl the media file types t appear in the playlist. Keywrd search cntext: Define the search scpe as the current site and sub sites r all sites accrding t the cnfiguratin f cntent sharing in the Partner Settings. View warning message: If the cntext f the search is defined as All Items and the cnfiguratin f cntent sharing in the Partner Settings is set t frbid users t brwse all Kaltura cntent n SharePint, yu will receive a warning message and media will be selected nly frm the current site and sub sites. Partner settings: Allw users t brwse all Kaltura cntent n SharePint Kaltura Web Part Keywrd search cntext Yes All Items N Current Site and Subsites Warning displayed /search restricted N N All Items Yes Current Site and Subsites N Order by - Cntrls the rder f the playlist. Number f preview items displayed - enter the number f thumbnails. The default is 5 displayed. Padding between preview items - Enter the padding between thumbnails in the playlist. 20 Embedding Kaltura Media as a Clumn in SharePint Lists T add media int a clumn In the Hme page left panel, select Lists. Click create, select a list, and then select Create Clumn. Enter the Clumn name and select Kaltura Media as the type... After yu cnfigure a site clumn, yu can add the clumn t a SharePint list, and select Kaltura media items t include in the list items. T embed Kaltura Media int a SharePint list In the Hme page left panel, select Lists. Click create. Create a clumn in the list, using the cnfigured Kaltura Media type. See Embedding Kaltura Media as a Clumn in SharePint Lists. Under Additinal Clumn Settings, cnfigure the clumn settings fr the appearance f the media. 22 SECTION 5 Integrating Kaltura Cntent int the SharePint Federated Search This sectin describes hw t integrate Kaltura cntent int the Federated Search. Related Dcumentatin Fr mre infrmatin abut the Federated Search in SharePint 2010: T integrate Kaltura cntent int the Federated Search In the SharePint Central admin windw, g t Applicatin Management and select Manage Service Applicatin. Select Search Service Applicatin. In the left pane, select Federated Lcatins frm the Queries and Results sectin. Click Imprt Lcatin. Brwse t and imprt the federated lcatin given by Kaltura (KalturaFederatedLcatinExample.OSDX) t the Central administratin. Cntinue t edit the lcatin. Kaltura Vide Extensin fr SharePint User Guide 22

23 Integrating Kaltura Cntent int the SharePint Federated Search Edit the Federatin Search Lcatin T edit the Federated Search General Infrmatin Sectin In the General Infrmatin sectin, change the Display Name t site cllectin name. Enter a Descriptin. T edit the lcatin In the Query template sectin, change the template site cllectin t yur site cllectin address. (ptinal) If yu want t cnfigure the Mre Results page, enter the Mre Results link. Create a new Page in yur site cllectin fr the Mre Results page and then cpy the link. In the Specify Credentials sectin, under User: select Kerbers. Yu might need t reset yur SharePint web server (iisreset) t see the new lcatin in the web part lcatin ptins. Click OK t add the lcatins t yur search results pages. Adding the Search Page t the Site Cllectin Yu can create a new site fr yur search r create a web part n an existing page. T create a New Site fr yur Search G t Site Actins and select New Site. Enter a Title, Descriptin and URL. In the Template selectin sectin select the Enterprise tab. Select a template. 24 Integrating Kaltura Cntent int the SharePint Federated Search T create a web part n an existing page Select site Actins and then select page r select the Page tab. Chse where t place the web part based n the frame. Click Add Web part. There are three web parts assciated with the Federated Search. 25 Integrating Kaltura Cntent int the SharePint Federated Search Tp Federated results See Example f the Federated Search Results. Select Search frm the Categries list. Select a search type and click Add The fllwing example displays the selected search, Federated Results placed n the bttm half f the page. Yu can drag and drp yur selectin t the area in display where yu want the search t appear. Select Edit Web part t change the lcatin t yur site lcatin n Kaltura.
