5 Kaltura MediaSpace Overview SECTION 1 Kaltura MediaSpace Overview Kaltura MediaSpace is a fully custmizable media destinatin site fr yur rganizatin. MediaSpace is an ut-f-the-bx vide-centric site that can serve as a repsitry fr media cllectins acrss the rganizatin r a full-featured "internal YuTube. Yu can integrate MediaSpace int yur lcal authenticatin envirnment fr rle-based authenticatin, r use it as a public destinatin site. MediaSpace can be easily cnfigured and branded, and requires minimal resurces t get up and running while allwing extensive custmizatin. Opening MediaSpace Open the MediaSpace hme page t view media. Lgging In T lg in t MediaSpace NOTE: If yu are required t lg in t view unrestricted media, skip the first step. On the MediaSpace hme page, click My Media r lgin. In the Lgin windw, enter yur username and passwrd. Username Passwrd Allws yu t viewer viewer View media. admin admin1 Uplad media and grab embed cdes. T re-display a gallery, click shw. T select a vide t play In a media gallery, click a vide thumbnail t display the vide in the media player. 8 Kaltura MediaSpace Overview T view media Click Play in the media player. Yu can use ptins such as vlume cntrl, full screen, and enlarging the player within the MediaSpace windw. Media Player: The Expand Player icn fr enlarging the player On an ios device, a built-in ios media player plays MediaSpace media. Searching Media Yu can search fr media in the fllwing ways: Text search f: All media A gallery A categry Media assciated with a user, tag, r categry T search all media In the MediaSpace header's search field, enter yur search text. 9 Kaltura MediaSpace Overview T search a gallery In a media gallery, click Search this gallery. Enter text in the search field. T search a categry 3. Open a categry. Click Search these vides. Enter text in the search field. T search media assciated with a user, tag, r categry On a media's Details tab, click the name f a user, tag, r categry. 10 Uplading Media SECTION 2 Uplading Media T uplad media D ne f the fllwing: In the My Media tab, click Media Uplad. In the MediaSpace header's Add New menu, select Media Uplad. In the Uplad Media windw, click Chse a file t uplad. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 10

12 Uplading Media 4. While the file is uplading, in the Uplad Media windw yu can: Enter infrmatin abut the media and click Save. NOTE: If yu click Save befre the file is cmpletely upladed, the media infrmatin is saved after the media is upladed. Click x next t the prgress bar t cancel the uplad. Click Uplad anther file. 5. T view the media page when uplading is cmplete, click G t media page in the Uplad Media windw. Vide after Uplad After a vide is upladed, it is cnverted fr ptimal playback. Yu cannt preview r publish a vide during cnversin. If media is waiting fr mderatin, yu cannt preview r publish it until it is apprved. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 12

14 Recrding frm Webcam SECTION 3 Recrding frm Webcam T recrd frm a webcam D ne f the fllwing: In the My Media tab, click Webcam Recrding. In the MediaSpace header's Add New menu, select Webcam Recrding. In the Recrd frm Webcam windw, click Allw if a flash player message is displayed. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 14

In the Recrd frm Webcam windw, click anywhere in the recrding area t start recrding In the Recrd frm Webcam windw, click anywhere in the recrding area t stp recrding, and click Save. In the Recrd frm Webcam windw, enter infrmatin abut the media and click Save. T view the media page after saving the recrding, click G t media page in the Recrd frm Webcam windw. 16 Creating a Vide Presentatin SECTION 4 Creating a Vide Presentatin The Kaltura Vide Presentatin Widget The Kaltura Vide Presentatin Widget allws the side-by-side, synchrnized display f media and dcument files t end users. The Vide Presentatin feature enables cntent creatrs t synchrnize vide and specific slides in a slideshw r dcument and share the synchrnized presentatin. The Vide Presentatin Wrkflw Basic wrkflw t synchrnize the display f media and dcument files: Select a media file. Select a dcument file. 3. Add sync pints t synchrnize the dcument with the media. 17 Creating a Vide Presentatin T create a vide presentatin D ne f the fllwing: In the My Media tab, click Vide Presentatin. In the MediaSpace header's Add New menu, select Vide Presentatin. 18 Creating a Vide Presentatin (Optinal) T uplad a new dcument In the Add Vide Presentatin windw, click Uplad Dcument. In the Uplad Dcument windw, click Brwse yur desktp. In the Select file t uplad windw, select a dcument r presentatin file t uplad and click Open. In the Uplad Dcument windw, enter infrmatin abut the dcument and click Clse. 5. In the Uplad Dcument windw, click Back t the vide presentatin creatin flw (step 1) t cntinue creating a vide presentatin. NOTE: After a dcument is upladed, it is ptimized fr display in the presentatin. Yu cannt use a dcument in a vide presentatin until ptimizatin is cmplete. T select and synchrnize files In the Add Vide Presentatin windw, select an item frm a list f available vide and audi items, and click Next. In the Add Vide Presentatin windw, select an item frm a list f available dcuments and presentatins, and click Next t create the vide presentatin. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 18

19 Creating a Vide Presentatin 3. In the Edit Media windw, synchrnize the media and slides. Sync Playback Sync Actins a. T start synchrnizing the media with the slides, click Play in the media player. b. When yu reach a pint that yu want t synchrnize: - Click the player t pause the playback. - In the thumbnail carusel, select the slide t synchrnize with the pint where the playback paused, and click + Sync Vide/Slide. Click Play in the media player t cntinue synchrnizing the playback with the slides. Add and remve sync pints as needed, and click Save. 4. 21 Managing Yur Media SECTION 5 Managing Yur Media NOTE: If yu cannt access the My Media tab cntent r actins, ask yur MediaSpace administratr t give yu the required permissin. The My Media tab lists previusly upladed media. When yu pen a media page, yu can: Edit metadata r delete the media. Select a thumbnail. Publish media. Add media t playlists r remve media frm a playlist. Manage playlists. Share media. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 21

22 Managing Yur Media Editing Media T edit media D ne f the fllwing: In the My Media tab, click Edit fr the media yu want t edit. In the My Media tab, click the thumbnail r title f the media yu want t edit. In the media page's Details tab, click Edit. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 22

23 Managing Yur Media In the Edit Media windw, yu can: Edit infrmatin abut the media. Delete the media. Select a frame t use as the media thumbnail, such as when the media is included in a gallery. T select a frame as a thumbnail 3. In the Edit Media windw, click Play in the media player. Pause the player at the frame that yu want t use as a thumbnail. 24 Managing Yur Media Publishing Media By default, media that yu uplad is private. Yu can access private media in yur My Media tab. In the My Media tab, yu can grab the embed cde f private media r publish it t make it public in MediaSpace. Publishing media makes the media publicly accessible t MediaSpace users. Yu can publish media: In multiple categries Only when file cnversin is cmplete and the media is nt waiting fr mderatin T publish media NOTE: If yu cannt publish media, ask yur MediaSpace administratr t give yu the required permissin. In the My Media tab, click the thumbnail r title f the media yu want t publish. By default, upladed media is nt published. 3. In the media page's Publish tab, select Publish. Select categries fr the published media. T make media private Click the thumbnail r title f the published media that yu want t make private. In the media page's Publish tab, select Nt Published (Private). Private media is accessible nly n the media wner's My Media tab. Adding Media t Playlists Yu can create playlists and assciate media with the playlists. T create a playlist NOTE: If yu cannt create a playlist, ask yur MediaSpace administratr t give yu the required permissin. Click a media thumbnail r title. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 24

25 Managing Yur Media In the Add t Playlists tab under the media player, enter a descriptive name in the Add New Playlist field, and click Add. The media is added t the new playlist. T add media t a playlist Click a media thumbnail r title. In the Add t Playlists tab under the media player, select ne r mre playlists. The selected playlist name is displayed in the Appears in field. Yu als can add a new playlist. T remve media frm a playlist Click a media thumbnail r title. In the Add t Playlists tab under the media player, d ne f the fllwing: Clear a selected playlist. In the Appears in field, click x next t a playlist name. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 25

26 Managing Yur Media Managing Playlists After yu create a playlist, yu can preview the playlist, rerder the media in the playlist, design the playlist, and cpy the playlist's embed cde. T manage a playlist NOTE: If yu cannt manage a playlist, ask yur MediaSpace administratr t give yu the required permissin. D ne f the fllwing: Select the My Playlists tab. Click a media thumbnail r title. In the Add t Playlists tab under the media player, click Manage Playlists. 3. In the My Playlists tab, select a playlist frm the Shw Playlist menu. Fr the selected playlist, yu can d the fllwing: Delete the playlist. Rerder the vides in the playlist. Remve vides frm the playlist. Cpy the playlist's embed cde t paste it n a web site. Select the layut and clr f the playlist. Drag and drp vides t rerder them r click Remve (displayed when yu hver ver a vide) t remve a vide frm the playlist. Kaltura MediaSpace User Manual 26

27 Managing Yur Media Sharing Media Yu can share a media item by cpying the embed cde and pasting it n a web site. T share a media item NOTE: If yu cannt grab embed cde r select a player design, ask yur MediaSpace administratr t give yu the required permissin. Click a media thumbnail r title.
