1 For the FIRST TIME, BCA delegates under the Young Leaders Programme (YLP) were invited to visit an industry firm- KPK Quantity Surveyors at their newly renovated office at Katong Shopping Centre. BCA young leaders from various divisions in BCA attended a sharing session with the young leaders and management from KPK on topics like construction cost management, construction demand and Green Mark. Through company visits and future similar interactions, BCA and industry partners hope to achieve the common objective of working in synergy to propel the advancement of the construction Industry. Company visits are also part of the BCA Built Environment Young Leaders Programme to expose both BCA and industry young leaders to industry issues and enable them to cultivate a more holistic viewpoint of the industry's development. (Above) KPK Managing Director, Mr, Billy Wong gave a warm welcoming address to the Young Leaders from BCA. Besides sharing his insights on the industry s outlook.. Mr Wong also expressed his support for the Built Environment Young Leaders Programme as well as his eagerness to propagate the quest to raise the professional value of QS professionals in order to attract more young talents into this profession.

2 What is the Built Environment YLP? The Built Environment Young Leaders Programme (YLP) is BCA's latest initiative to retain and nurture young professionals with the potential and calibre to lead the construction industry in the near future. To kick-start this programme, BCA has worked closely with leading industry players to identify an initial group of young and talented industry professionals who exude the dedication, passion and leadership qualities. From BCA s side, a group of young and promising leaders were also identified within our organisation to join the YLP. Besides closer engagement with this initial group of Young Leaders to tap their passion in BCA s career promotion efforts and gather their feedback on policy issues, the YLP will serve as a platform to facilitate the upgrading and career progression of the Young Leaders. 3 Built Environment Young Leaders Leaders Visit to KPK A lively exchange of views ensued after BCA Young Leaders pointed out that by advocating the life-cycle costing of green buildings,, buildings quantity surveying firms have significant roles to play in advancing the progress of greening Singapore s built environment.
