From the lobby he sees a horrible collection of what he thinks might be torture devices surrounding an examination chair. As he looks around the room for help, he sees a poster of Adventure Oppy. He thinks to himself, I wonder what it would be like if I were Adventure Oppy. Immediately, Oppy is transported to the top of an ancient temple in the middle of a jungle. He is wearing the same clothes as Adventure Oppy, a brown fedora and jacket a la Indiana Jones. As he tries to figure out how he got there, the temple begins to crumble under his feet. He has to react quickly. He jumps to a nearby vine and swings to a nearby swamp where for a moment, he feels safe. But he quickly realizes that he has landed on the nose of a crocodile who looks at Oppy hungrily. Oppy jumps off the crocodile s nose onto another crocodile, and another, and another until he finally lands
out of the swamp. But before he can catch his breath, he finds himself on a delapodated rope bridge. He sees his goal across the cavernous canyon and decides to go for it. He starts running across the bridge hopping over the missing slats but is stopped by a section with so many missing slats that he is unsure that he can make it across. But this uncertainty only lasts for a moment. Oppy gathers all his energy and will and runs toward the gap. He jumps at the last moment possible and flies through the air much further than he has ever flown before. But is it far enough? Just when we think he won t make it, Oppy grabs a slat on the other side, and hangs on for dear life. The slat, which is old and hasn t felt the weight of an ophthalmosaurus for a hundred years creaks, cracks, then breaks. Oppy plummets into the canyon but is able to grab a rocky outcropping before he hits the ground. He is still alive, but unsure of how to get off this cliff to safety. Just when discouragement starts to take hold, Oppy sees a rope come down next to him. Oppy grabs the rope, then looks up to see Dr. Seemore Saurus on the other end smiling. Oppy feels sure that he can make it now. Dr. Saurus pulls Oppy so quickly that he is flung high into the air. As he falls, Oppy feels confident that he will be safe in the hands of Dr. Saurus. He falls into the examination chair and finds himself back in the Optometrist office. He is ready to start the exam and is happy to have such a good doctor watching over him. Title, Animation 2 Oppy s Arial Adventure Description, Animation 2 Oppy is scared to go to the Optometrist. From the lobby he sees a horrible collection of what he thinks might be torture devices surrounding an examination chair. As he looks around the room for help, he sees a poster of Amelia Eyehart. He thinks to himself, I wonder what it would be like if I were Amelia Eyehart. Oppy then finds himself in the cockpit of a single prop stunt plane soaring through the skies. The clouds below look like an endless ocean of fluffy mashed potatoes. Oppy sees a hot air balloon slowly reveal itself through the clouds. He smiles. Suddenly, dozens of hot air balloons come out through the clouds directly in Oppy s path. He reacts quickly banking left and right missing the balloons by inches. As he swerves to miss the basket on the bottom of a balloon he inadvertently flies through a rope holding an anchor. The rope snaps off the balloon and gets caught on Oppy s airplane. The weight of the anchor on the wing causes Oppy s airplane to fall into the dense cloud cover below. He tries to shake it off but is unsuccessful. He tries again, spinning like a blender in the sky. The anchor flies off of the wing and he has control again, but he is now engulfed in a thick fog and unable to clearly see his way. Mountain peaks come out of nowhere putting him in danger of crashing. Oppy looks through the fog carefully and sees in the distance two waving lights. He smiles. The waving lights are Dr. Seemore Saurus guiding Oppy to the landing strip where he is able to make a safe landing. He sees Dr. Saurus on the tarmack standing next to the exam chair and waving. Oppy happily jumps out of the cockpit into the exam chair. Landing in the chair, he finds himself back in the Optometrist office. He is ready to start the exam and is happy to have such a good doctor watching over him. Design Goal It is our intention Through the Oppy Club to enrich the experience children have with their health care provider, thereby helping create a positive environment they will look forward to visiting for many years
to come. Both the Oppy animations and the Oppy game have been designed to help children who are nervous or scared of going to the Optometrist to be more confident and even excited to go. Target Audience Children Ages 3 8 Animation 1 Core Team Changes Falling Toward the end of the animation there is a part where the Dr. Saurus pulls Oppy out of the canyon, flinging him into the air. Currently, as he is falling, he has flailing arms and looks very scared. The core team will change the animation to a top down view, showing how happy Oppy is to have been saved by Dr. Saurus. High 5 At the very end, Oppy ends up in the exam chair and Dr. Saurus is on the other side of the room. The core team will change this to reflect a closer relationship between Oppy and Dr. Saurus by animating a high five between the characters and a greater amount of mutual celebration and excitement. Emotion Throughout the animation there are several points where Oppy s facial expressions could communicate his emotions more clearly and more animatedly. The core team will identify these points and adjust the animations accordingly using blendshapes where necessary. Camera Angles Throughout the animation there are several camera angles and movements that could be more artfully executed. The core team will identify these angles and adjust them to communicate the feeling of the piece more effectively. Canyon The canyon in the final action sequence will need to have a new model made to accommodate the action sequence and the look we want to achieve. Animation 1 Alternate Team Changes Atmosphere The alternate team will work on improving the atmosphere throughout the jungle sequences so that the proper look and feel can be achieved throughout the animation. Water Reflection During the crocodile section of the animation, the water needs a little reflection to better sell the environment.
Temple The temple blocks need texture in order to achieve a sense of the ancient, further supporting the fact that it crumbles the second Oppy sets foot on it. Background A background needs to be created for the jungle in order to add depth and sell the scope of the environment. Edit The animation needs to be edited to tighten up the timing in order to capitalize on the action and humorous situations throughout. Animation 2 Storyboards

Looking Forward Oppy s Jungle Adventure and Oppy s Arial Adventure will be powerful tools to help Optometrists everywhere help kids overcome the fear experienced when they visit their office, and they are just the beginning. These two animations are the beginning of a series of animations each built to appeal to a different group of children based on their interests and heroes. For each animation there will also be a game or a level in a larger game so that children can increase their engagement in Oppy s world. That world will be richly populated with quality, family friendly media and above all, help children get the help they need without anxiety.
