7 Common probe commands display hardware internal dump Use display hardware internal dump to display the dump register information of a chip. display hardware internal dump if-name [ card ] chip chip-num [ global channel ] if-name: Specifies a registered interface or controller by its name. card: Specifies the card system. chip-num: Specifies a chip by its number in the range of 0x00 to 0xFF. global: Specifies the global register. channel: Specifies the channel register. This command reads the DUMP register information of the specified chip, one group of values each time. display hardware internal physical Use display hardware internal physical to display the dump software information. display hardware internal physical if-name [ boardinfo intinfo intinfo-priv rxbd statistic txbd ] if-name: Specifies a registered interface or controller by its name. boardinfo: Displays main board information. intinfo: Displays basic interface information. 1

Debugging compromises system performance. To troubleshoot the router, enable only required debugging functions. 2

9 Switching module probe commands bcm Use bcm to execute probe commands for a Broadcom chip. bcm chassis-num slot-num/subslot-num chip-num string chassis-num: Specifies a chassis by its number, which is always 0. slot-num: Specifies a slot by its number in the range of 0 to 255. subslot-num: Specifies a subslot by its number in the range of 0 to 255. chip-num: Specifies a chip by its number in the range of 0 to 31. string: Specifies probe commands for the Broadcom chip. Use slashes (/) to separate commands. Use this command to execute the specified probe commands for the specified switching chip. If you specify two or more commands for the string argument, separate the commands with slashes. debugging physical lsw Use debugging physical lsw to enable debugging for the specified submodule or all submodules of the switching module. This command supports enabling debugging for a specified module, facilitating debugging in development. reset hardware internal dump slot inner-port counter Use reset hardware internal dump slot inner-port counter to clear statistics for all internal interfaces in a slot. 14

22 Voice probe commands dsp-capture pcm Use dsp-capture pcm to capture DSP PCM packets on a voice interface. dsp-capture pcm if-name { start stop } if-name: Specifies a voice interface. start: Starts capturing packets. stop: Stops capturing packets. The router can capture DSP PCM packets only on one voice interface. To capture packets on another voice interface, you must stop capturing packets on the previous voice interface. display hardware internal dspmem Use display hardware internal dspmem to display DSP memory information. display hardware internal dspmem if-name dsp-num dsp-addr if-name: Specifies a voice interface. dsp-num: Specifies a DSP by its number in the range of 0 to 15. dsp-addr: Specifies a DSP memory address in the range of 0x00000 to 0x27FFF. 16

23 vpm-mirror The DSP numbers and addresses vary with different voice cards. Use the correct DSP number and address to view DSP memory information. Use vpm-mirror to mirror the packets between a VPM card and CPU to a specified interface. vpm-mirror slot slot-num port port-num { all command data stop } to if-name slot-num: Specifies a VPM card. port-num: Specifies a VPM interface. all: Mirrors all packets between the VPM interface and CPU. command: Mirrors command packets between the VPM interface and CPU. data: Mirrors data packets between the VPM interface and CPU. stop: Stops packet mirroring. if-name: Specifies the destination interface. The destination interface must be a WAN interface. debugging physical voice fax Default Use debugging physical voice fax to enable fax debugging for a voice interface. Use undo debugging physical voice fax to disable fax debugging for a voice interface. debugging physical voice if-name fax type undo debugging physical voice if-name fax type Fax debugging is disabled for a voice interface 17

25 Main board probe commands display hardware internal pcicfg Use display hardware internal pcicfg to display the contents of the PCI configuration space, including the contents of the PCI-E configuration space. display hardware internal pcicfg slot-num pci-num bus-num dev-num func-num pci-offset width-num slot-num: Specifies a slot number. It must be 0 for an MSR 2600 or MSR 3600, and must be in the range of 0 to 2 for an MSR pci-num: Specifies the number of the system's PCI-E controller (RC), in the range of 0 to 1. The router can use up to two RCs. bus-num: Specifies the PCI bus number in the range of 0 to 255. dev-num: Specifies the PCI device number in the range of 0 to 31. func-num: Specifies the PCI function number in the range of 0 to 7. pci-offset: Specifies the PCI configuration register offset in the range of 0x0000 to 0xFFFF. width-num: Specifies the PCI configuration access bit width in bytes. Valid values include 1, 2, and 4. This command reads the PCI configuration space, including the PCI-E configuration space. To use this command, you must do the following: Obtain the PCI device's PCI bus number, device number, and function number. Specify an offset for the command. display hardware internal access-space Use display hardware internal access-space to display hardware space information. display hardware internal access-space slot-num acc-addr width-num 19

26 slot-num: Specifies a slot number. It must be 0 for an MSR 2600 or MSR 3600, and must be in the range of 0 to 2 for an MSR acc-addr: Specifies the hardware space in the range of 0 to 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. width-num: Specifies the PCI configuration access bit width in bytes. Valid values include 1, 2, 4, and 8. This command reads the contents in the specified address space. The address space cannot be the IO mapping space and must be able to be accessed directly. Examples of supported address spaces include: Memory address space. Address spaces of CPUs' internal registers. Memory and IO space of a PCI device. Address space of a local bus management device, such as the address space of a CPLD or RTC. The flash memory is not included. The supported spaces depend on the MPU model. switch console Use switch console on an MSR 5600 to change the operating mode of the MPU's console port. switch console { mpu spu } mpu: Uses the MPU's console port for the MPU. spu: Uses the MPU's console port for the SPU. The MSR 5600 SPU card does not have console ports. To test or debug an SPU card, you can configure the switch console spu command to use the MPU's console port. 20
