Integration Note Manufacturer: Autonomic Model Number(s): Mirage Media Server (Autonomic MMS-x Devices) Minimum Core Module Version: 6.5 Comments: Written and tested with FW REV Document Revision Date: OVERVIEW AND SUPPORTED FEATURES The Autonomic Mirage Media Server is a 5 zone audio server with built-in storage, which can play local content as well as streaming Internet radio services. This driver allows one way control of the MMS Onscreen display (OSD) and the audio output to which it is connected, via Ethernet. NOTE: A fully featured two way driver exists for g!. This one way driver is designed primarily for environments where the MMS OSD is in use. THIS DRIVER SUPPORTS THE FOLLOWING FEATURES: One Way Control: The driver provides one way control of the MMS OSD. Output Selection: The driver can select which zone is to be controlled by the OSD. THIS DRIVER DOES NOT SUPPORT THE FOLLOWING FEATURES: Two-Way Control/Feedback/Metadata: Feedback of current status or display of library info/metadata from the MMS is not supported by this driver. Any feature not specifically noted as supported should be assumed to be unsupported. ELAN Home Systems 1690 Corporate Circle Petaluma, CA USA tech support: main: sales: elan@elanhomesystems.com 2013 ELAN Home Systems. All rights reserved. 3 MMS SETUP The Mirage media server should be installed with cat5/6 cabling back to the network switch for communications. An appropriate video connection to a display is required to view the in-built OSD. Configuring a Static IP Address: In order to ensure reliable communication with g! it is strongly recommended that the MMS is configured with a static IP address in the same range as the g! controller. 1. First, the MMS must be physically connected to the network, with a computer connected to the same network. 2. Next, you need to access the settings page on the MMS. In a web browser, enter the IP address of the MMS (if you know it) followed by /config (for example, /config ), alternatively enter mirage-1/config. 3. On the Server Settings tab, scroll down to the Wired Ethernet section and choose Manual Configuration (Static IP) from the Connection dropdown menu. Five additional fields will appear: 4. Enter the desired IP address details into the relevant fields as in the above example and choose Save Changes. Updating Firmware In order for the driver to function fully, it is necessary for the MMS to be running firmware version 5.0 or later. Ordinarily, the latest firmware version can be downloaded and installed automatically via the web interface, however, at the time of writing this document, version 5.0 is available as a pre-release only. To download and install firmware version 5.0, perform the following steps: 1. Establish a telnet session to the MMS using port Run the command autoupdate Allow 20 minutes for installation to complete. NOTE: The telnet session will disconnect after the download is complete and the update will then be installed. It is important the MMS is left idle for at least 20 minutes as there is no notification when installation is complete. If you experience any problems during this process, contact Autonomic support (support@autonomic-controls.com). 3 of 7

Configuring Audio Outputs: Although any configuration of the audio zones is likely to have been performed by the installer upon installation, any required changes should be made prior to installing the g! driver. 1. Select the Source Settings tab on the MMS settings page. 2. In the Server Audio Outputs section, make any required changes to the configuration: Click on an ouput in the Name column to enter a new name. In the Gain column, disable a zone by selecting Disabled (or re-enable by choosing a gain type). 3. In the Airplay section, select any audio outputs for which Airplay should be enabled. 4. Choose Save Changes. Configuring Online Services: A number of online services can be enabled or disabled. The available online services will differ depending on your geographical region. NOTE: paid accounts may be required. 1. Select the Content tab on the MMS settings page. 2. For each available service that you wish to enable, ensure the checkbox is filled to the left of the service name. Click on Add Account for each service to enter your account details. 3. Choose Save Changes. g! SETUP Installing the driver: 1. In Configurator, go to the Media tab and add a new communication device, selecting Standard Connection as the Communication Type and Ethernet as the Hardware Type. Enter the IP address of the MMS (no need to enter a port number, as this automatically defaults to the correct value). 2. Right click on Two-Way Devices and choose Add New DVD Player, selecting Autonomic OSD from the list. Ensure your newly added device has the correct communication device selected. Next, choose the audio output that the driver is to control from the Settings dropdown menu. 3. Now we need to add an interface; right click on One-Way Devices and choose Add New Source. In the box that appears, enter a name for your interface and choose Autonomic as the template layout. In the Connect to Existing Device dropdown menu, select the two-way device you have just added (which is called Autonomic OSD by default). The driver is now configured and you should be able to add the Autonomic MMS into your system as a source on a Zone Controller in the usual way. Selecting the correct audio output: At any one time, the Mirage OSD is connected to (and controlling) one of its five audio outputs. As there may be other controllers in the system connecting to the MMS, it is possible that the OSD output could change. It is therefore necessary to add an event map in g! to ensure that the correct output is selected when the driver s source is selected. 1. In Configurator, choose Event Mapper and add a new Event Map, choosing an appropriate name. 4 of 7

2. Add an event to trigger when the Autonomic OSD source is selected on your chosen Zone Controller. 3. Choose to add a command for the event map, selecting DVD Player as the System Family, Autonomic OSD as the Command Group and Set OSD Instance as the command. When the driver s source is selected, this event map will trigger the MMS to set the OSD output to the one specified in the Settings field of the Autonomic OSD driver. 5 of 7

g! CONFIGURATION DETAILS The following table provides settings used in the g! Configurator. Please refer to the Configurator Reference Guide for more details. o <Select from list> Select the appropriate item from the list (or drop-down) in the Configurator. o <User Defined>, etc. Type in the desired name for the item. o <Auto Detect>, etc. The system will auto detect this variable. Refer to the g! System Programming Details below for additional information. 6 of 7

COMMON MISTAKES 1. Not properly configuring the MMS. The MMS should be configured according to the instructions above. 2. Not adding an Audio Zone Controller to the system. Audio Zones appear in the Viewer interface: until you add an Audio Zone, you will not see the MMS in the Viewer interface. Use the Single Zone Audio for a stand-alone audio zone where the MMS is driving speakers with a stand-alone amplifier. 3. Not adding Streaming Services properly. To use streaming radio, you must: Enable the service in the MMS settings. Enter valid login details in the MMS settings. 4. Not adding an Event Map to ensure the correct output is selected for the MMS OSD. Follow the instructions above. 5. Not selecting the MMS output to control in the Autonomic OSD driver s Settings field. 6. Attempting to use the same communication device as the full-control Autonomic connection. To use the Autonomic OSD, you must create a new communication device for the OSD and not attempt to use the communication providing 2-way control to the Autonomic Server. 7 of 7
