The DICOM functionality is based on the MergeCOM Toolkit of Merge Technologies Inc. SONOWIN_SSCU establishes an association with a user selected remote AE just prior to sending a Store request to that AE. It then sends the selected images from the SonoWin image database. 3.3 Sequencing of real-world activities See previous section. 4 AE specifications 4.1 AE Specifications for SONOWIN_SSCU SONOWIN_SSCU provides Standard Conformance to the following DICOM V3.0 Service Object Pair (SOP) Classes as a Storage Service Class User (SCU). 6 Page 6 of Association establishment policies General The SONOWIN_SSCU application will initiate an association as an SCU of Storage Services when a local operator requests to send images selected from the to SonoWin image database over the network to a remote Storage Service Class Provider. The maximum PDU size is configurable from a minimum of 4,096 bytes. The default PDU size is 28,672 bytes Number of associations The SONOWIN_SSCU AE opens only one store association at a time. If the operator selects more than one image to be sent, SONOWIN_SSCU AE will open multiple non-simultaneous associations with the remote AE Asynchronous nature The SONOWIN_SSCU AE does not support asynchronous communication (multiple outstanding transactions over a single association) Implementation identifying information This implementation will be identified by: - Implementation Class UID: Implementation Version Name: SONOWIN_ Calling and called AE titles The SONOWIN_SSCU calling AE title is preconfigured to be SONOWIN_SSCU. The user can change it if necessary. A called AE title is not used by SONOWIN_SSCU Association initiation for SONOWIN_SSCU The SONOWIN_SSCU will open an association as a result of a send request to transfer selected images to a remote system or when auto-send is enabled and an image is acquired Real-World activity for Send Image operations The SONOWIN_SSCU initiates a new association for the transfer of each image to a DICOM Image Storage Server Associated real-world activity for Send Image operations The user invocation of Net Send will open an association to the remote system. The images are transferred via the DICOM STORE-Request. The association is closed after the successful transfer or if errors occur. 7 Page 7 of Photometric interpretation Photometric Interpretation, i.e., color mode of the pixel image data, is not a negotiable parameter in DICOM 3.0. SONOWIN_SSCU always exports images in RGB mode. JPEG Image Compression is supported for Ultrasound Multiframe Storage SOP Specific Conformance to Verification SOP Class The SONOWIN_SSCU AE supports the Verification SOP Class as an SCU SOP Specific Conformance to Storage SOP Class The SONOWIN_SSCU AE provides standard conformance to the Storage SOP Class. It shows the following behavior on successful (with or without warnings) and unsuccessful transfer of images: Success (return status 0000) Refused (return status A7xx) and error (return status A9xx or Cxxx) Warning (return status B00x) Messages indicating the status of a C-STORE request are displayed in the log window of the AE. The progress of the transfer is indicated by the status bar of the log window (if activated). In any case the transfer is run as a background progress. Extended negotiation is not supported. The standard conformance to the Storage SOP Class also implies standard conformance for the Ultrasound Multi-frame (US MF) Image Storage SOP Class Ultrasound (US) Image Storage SOP Class Secondary Capture (SC) Image Storage SOP Class Table 4 lists the applied common Conditional (DICOM Type 1C and 2C) and Optional (DICOM Type 3) attributes of these three Storage SOP Classes. All of these attributes may be empty or not even present in certain situations. It inherits the TCP/IP stack from the Microsoft Windows host operating system upon which it executes Physical Media Support SONOWIN_SSCU AE is indifferent to the physical medium over which TCP/IP executes; it inherits this from the operating system on which it exists. 6 Extensions/specializations/privatizations 6.1 Standard extended/specialized/private SOPs None supported. 6.2 Private Transfer Syntaxes None supported.

9 Page 9 of 13 7 Configuration 7.1 SONOWIN_SSCU Configuration files The SONOWIN_SSCU module references 4 configuration files. The first, dicom.ini, has to be in the module directory. dicom.ini dicom.pro dicom.app dicom.srv Specifies the names of the other 3 configuration files and also contains message logging parameters. Specifies run-time parameters for the SONOWIN_SSCU module. Defines applications on other network nodes, to which connections are possible. Service and sequence definitions AE title/presentation address mapping Presentation address mapping is configured in the dicom.app file. This is where the Host Name, Port Number, and Application Title map an Application Entity (AE) to a Presentation Address in TCP/IP for the provider to which you wish to connect. Normally, set these values in the SonoWin configuration application Configurable parameters The dicom.pro configuration file can be used to set or modify other lower-level communication parameters. This includes time-outs and other parameters. Some information about supported SOP classes is also stored here. Most parameters in this file should NEVER be changed. Doing so could break DICOM conformance. Before modifying any parameters, such as time-out, be sure to have a backup of the originally supplied dicom.pro file. The situation that an attribute is present conditionally/optionally or that an attribute may contain a zero length value, is indicated too. Conditions and Defined/Enumerated values of DICOM 3.0 are applicable but are not shown in the tables. These tables are complete with respect to the attributes set by the DCM_SSCU module.
