Software Fixes in PCM 3.20 Updates Software Fixes in PCM 3.20 Updates Update 4 The following issues have been fixed in PCM 3.20 Update 4: Licensing (CR_103676): PCM allows the administrator to enter their HP Passport credentials (formerly the My Networking Portal and My Procurve credentials) and perform actions on behalf of a user, for example, generating a premium license for installation on a switch, generating a ONE activation license for installation on a ONE module, and automatic registration of products. This was addressed in PCM 3.20 AU3. But, a recent certificate change resulted in another failure to communicate with the portal and the customer receives an error message The security certificate presented by the portal is not issued by a trusted CA. Preferences (CR_15299): SMTP Profiles - The server field now accepts both DNS names and IP addresses. Access Manager (CR_13989): The user count is now displayed correctly for the 802.1xAuth type non K series switches. Device Manager (CR_13797): You can now sort IP addresses in the Authorized manager or the trap receiver tab. Config Manager (CR_55827): Resolved an issue that resulted in the failure of PCM SCP scan for firmware and later. Discovery (CR_43236): Resolved an issue where manual discovery of non HP switches failed at the Discovering device information stage. CIP (CR_44000): Resolved an issue where the CIP devices ignored the CIP definitions and discovered the devices as end nodes. CIP (CR_44001): Resolved an issue where the CIP file failed to update the switch when the value was changed using the CIP wizard. Configuration (CR_44250): The version field on the Configuration screen of AP420s is now not selected if the device is running a software version other than the preferred version selected in Preferences. Config Manager (CR_52601): Resolved an issue that resulted in the failure of CLI and test communications when the MOTD banner is set using multiple lines of text. Software Update (CR_53909): Addressed the Software update wizard failure on 2520G using SSH/ SFTP. Software Update (CR_52785): The correct version is n ow displayed when you update PCM or the firmware. 8

Software Fixes in PCM 3.20 Updates Device Manager (CR_54068): Resolved an issue where PCM incorrectly reported the percentage details in device group. Group Manager (CR_103286): Resolved an issue where PCM client launch failed resulting in custom group errors. Discovery (CR_102679): PCM now does not display the extra backslash (/) after the port number in a network map. Software update (CR_53753): PCM now notifies the user about configuration changes performed on switches. Discovery (CR_54985): Addressed the missing LLDP link issue between the 8200 and the Cisco 3560 switches. Edge Port Count (CR_68526): The edge port count numbers would count up beyond the number of port available on the switch. Update 3 The following issues have been fixed in PCM 3.20 Update 3: Policy Manager (CR_14914): Policy manager did not take the event OID into consideration while determining which events were duplicate. This resulted in policies not being triggered when certain events happened in quick succession. With this fix, policy manager takes the event OID into consideration while discriminating events for duplicates. Agent Manager (CR_15234): When Agent proxies were configured, a database resource error prevented subnets from being moved between agents. The resource error has been corrected so the move action is now possible. Discovery (CR_15239): When WESM devices were include in a custom group, in some situations in which the WESM created new interfaces and deleted them later, these changes were discovered by PCM but they were not stored correctly in the Device Group table. Over time, this resulted in a column length too long error. The interfaces are now being stored correctly in the database table. User Manager (CR_15277): PCM allowed users to view reports about all devices, irrespective of whether the user was authorized to see details of the device. With this fix, users will be allowed to see reports of only those devices which are added to their user profiles. PCM Framework (CR_15283): On the Network Management Home window, tabs are displayed for the various PCM plug-in applications (IDM, MM, and NIM). When the corresponding plug-in is not installed, selecting the tab now displays a message indicating that the plug-in is not installed. When the plug-in is installed but is not licensed or the license has expired, the message displayed now indicates that the plug-in is not licensed. 9

Software Fixes in PCM 3.20 Updates Policy Manager (CR_15291): When a Linkdown trap is received, the discovery component does a passive discovery of the device and polls the device at the other end of the link. If the device was unreachable, an event was sent with the Source set to Discovery. The event now shows the IP address of the unreachable device so that Policy Manager can be used to take actions based on the unreachable device's IP. PCM Framework (CR_15322):When the PCM Client was launched, the basic Network Management Home dashboard screen was displayed behind the login dialog. Even if a user had not logged into the PCM Client, some traffic and other network information was shown on the dashboard, including information that the particular user may not have been authorized to see. The dashboard will no longer be populated with data until after a user has successfully logged into the PCM Client. Dashboard (CR_15348): On the Network Management Home dashboard, in the Discovery Status across Agents panel, no more than 8 agents could be viewed. When there are more than 8 agents, a scroll bar is now displayed for that panel to allow all the agents to be viewed. Reports (CR_15379): When selecting Reports > Diagnostics > Device Uptime and Status, due to a database corruption, an error message was displayed when the report was run for All Devices. This fix prevents the database from getting corrupted, thereby preventing the error while running this report. Traffic Agent (CR_15394): PCM would fail to add itself as an sflow receiver on SNMPv3 devices after the devices were rebooted. Navigation Tree (CR_15455): The Device List tab sometimes showed incorrect information in the Edge Port column.if you selected a device type folder in the navigation tree, for example ProCurve 3500yl, and then selected the Device List tab in right side pane, in rare situations, due to incorrect operation of the counter for edge ports in PCM, the Device List showed an incorrect value for the Edge Port Count column. The actual number of Edge Ports can be determined using the Port Classification dialog window, which is accessed from the right-click menu for the device. Discovery (CR_43616):PCM would not correctly update the visible device status. Once PCM reported a device status as Down (indicated by a red cross), it never updated the status back to Up (indicated by green), even though the device was up. Traffic Collector (CR_44044): When a device configured with SNMPv3 gets rebooted, PCM goes out of sync for the snmpenginetime and snmpengineboots variables. This caused Traffic Poller to poll the device with invalid snmpenginetime and snmpengineboots parameters. It also resulted in switches logging excessive SNMP Security Access Violation messages in their logs. The Traffic Poller now refreshes the cache with the new snmpengine values when a device transitions from unreachable to reachable state. 10

Software Fixes in PCM 3.20 Updates Update 2 The following issues have been fixed in PCM 3.20 Update 2: Licensing (PR_47302): Unable to perform License Registration through PCM if it is installed along with all the network management plug-ins on a Windows bit system. Event Browser (PR_56326): When printing a paged view (Event Browser and Media End Points), the option to print all pages or only current page was not provided. Reports (PR_64746): In the Reports > Diagnostics > Device Uptime and Status window, the Sort By: % Uptime option did not work correctly. PCM Framework (PR_65652): The Preferences > Network Settings > Port dialog box was not big enough to hold 5 characters. Update 1 The following issues were fixed in PCM 3.20 Update 1: Device Manager (PR_56344): PCM is not able to determine the SNMP agents active on MSM devices. As a result, the MSM SNMP agents cannot be selectively enabled or disabled. Port Settings (PR_60345): Manual Port Classification is not working with Custom Groups. PCM classifies switch ports as Infrastructure, Edge, or Other. If a port is manually classified as either Infrastructure or Edge, this property is not carried on when making the device a member of a group. When a device becomes a member of a group, the only port classifications that carry over to the new group are those that were established when the device was discovered and not those that were manually defined. Event Manager (PR_60871): PCM is incorrectly formatting SNMP traps received from devices that are enabled for loop protection traps. It reports Warning - replaced non-printable characters with # in the Event Browser. The SNMP Trap hpswitchstperrantbpdureceived contains some unique formatting for one of the varbinds. This varbind value represents the Destination Port for the STP information, and the data is contained within a two byte octet string. The first byte represents the port priority, and the second byte represents the port IF index value, which were not displayed correctly in the PCM Event Browser. Event Manager (PR_61588): A severity mismatch can occur between a device (for example, a switch) event log and the PCM Event Browser in the following circumstances: The device reports an event as being at a Debug severity, and PCM classifies the event as Minor severity in the Event Browser. The device reports a Command Line Interface Authentication failure, which is at a Warning severity, and PCM classifies the event as an Informational severity in the Event Browser. Reports (PR_62112): In PCM Tools > Preferences > Reports, an image can be loaded, such as a logo, to be included in reports. If this image was based on the CMYK color model with an embedded ICC image, the image will not display and an error will be recorded. Additional help text was added to indicate the image formats that PCM supports for report generation. 11

Software Fixes in PCM 3.20 Updates Agent Manager (PR_62283): In the Agent Ad Hoc File Manager, a hash is displayed for the files used by the agent. When the button Check for File Changes was pressed, and agent files had been changed, the hash value was not dynamically updated on the screen. Discovery (PR_62633): Discovery fails to add new devices manually or automatically on upgrade from PCM 2.3 to PCM 3.0. Group Manager (PR_62805): Custom groups were not shown in the pull down menu from inside the menu structure of Preferences > Events > ignored events or throttled events. Event Manager (PR_63423): In remote agent configurations, PCM may record a timestamp that differs from the PCM server timestamp in the PCM Event Browser. The applicable configurations are: PCM 3.2 is installed and a device is managed by a Remote agent PCM 3.2 is installed and a device is managed by a ONE zl Module Agent Automation Server (PR_63502): PCM Policy manager history entries were being incorrectly deleted after four minutes. This deletion would occur when a custom time was set in Preferences for entries to be deleted in four weeks. 12

Known Issues for PCM 3.20 Updates Known Issues for PCM 3.20 Updates Update 4 The following issues are known to exist in PCM 3.20 Update 4: LLDP MED (CR_104073): The LLDP MED information is not properly updated in PCM. Discovery (CR_103996): During port classification, the MAC address and the IP address of the Edge or infrastructure ports are retained even after the device is removed from the Edge or infrastructure port. Virtual Throttling (CR_54235): The vt disable command only changes the virtual throttling status of a port, but does not change the state of the port. Traffic (CR_54992): PCM does not display the traffic statistics of the H3C 5800 devices. (CR_54994): Deploying password for H3C A5800 using telnet fails. Update 3 The following issue is known to exist in PCM 3.20 Update 3: Event Manager (CR_44266): In some cases, traps that PCM receives from switches (both SNMP traps and Syslog messages) contain non-printable ASCII characters. PCM Event Manager replaces the non-printable characters with the # character in order to be able to successfully store the event data. PCM is able to receive and process the events correctly, but the character substitution results in messages in the Event browser with the text Warn: Replaced non-printable characters with #.... Policy Manager (CR_44568): A blank entry gets generated in Policy History when duplicate alerts are generated in quick succession. Update 2 The following H3C interoperability issues are known to exist in PCM 3.20 Update 2: Network Consistency (PR_66992): For H3C devices, the Unreachable/Reachable status is not indicated correctly. Steps to reproduce: 1. PCM and MM Server are already installed, and discovery is already performed. 2. Select an H3C device from the navigation tree. 3. Verify that this device is Reachable : Its icon in the navigation tree is green. In Wireless Metrics, the Device Status History chart appears in green. In Wireless Status, the Wireless Device Status appears as Good. 13

Known Issues for PCM 3.20 Updates 4. Disconnect the network cable from the device, and wait for some time. 5. Note that the status of the device is changed to Unreachable. Its icon in the navigation tree has changed to red. In Wireless Metrics, the Device Status History chart appears in red. In Wireless Status, the Wireless Device Status appears as Unreachable. In the Wireless Monitor table, the value in the Unreachable column is increased. In the Top Mobility Manager Events table, the Lost communication alarm appears. 6. Reconnect the network cable to the device, and wait for some time. 7. Note the new statu s of the device. 14

Known Issues for PCM 3.20 Updates Actual Results: Only these tools display the correct status for the device: Wireless Monitor table the value in the Unreachable column is decreased. Top Mobility Manager Events table the Lost communication alarm disappears and the Communication Recovery event is generated. These tools continue to display the previous (incorrect) status for the device: Its icon in the navigation tree remains red. In Wireless Metrics, the Device Status History chart remains in red. In Wireless Status, the Wireless Device Status remains as Unreachable. Expected Results: After the device is reconnected to the network, its status should be changed to Reachable in all the display tools listed above. Device Access (PR_67351): From the Device Access menu or toolbar icon, the Communication Parameters in Device configuration fails for the H3C WX5004 devices with product number JD448B (devices with product number JD448A work correctly). Device Access (PR_67472): From the Device Access menu or toolbar icon, SNMPv3 can not be enabled/disabled through PCM for H3C WX5004 devices with product number JD448B. Steps to reproduce: 1. Discover a WX5004 (JD448B) with the correct SNMP/CLI credentials. 2. From the Device Access menu or toolbar icon, select Test Communication Parameters and confirm that the tests pass. 3. Click on the log button that is on the results window, and the log should show Disabled SNMPV3 in the summary. 9. Go to the device CLI and enter the command: display snmp-agent sys-info version 15

Known Issues for PCM 3.20 Updates Actual Results: The output of the command continues to show that the SNMP versions running on the device are SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3. Expected Results: The output of the command should not show that SNMPv3 is running. VLAN Management (PR_67479): From the VLAN Manager menu or toolbar icon, the Add to VLAN option is grayed out for H3C WX5004 devices with product number JD448B. VLAN Management (PR_67480): Create VLAN fails through VLAN policy for H3C WX5004 devices with product number JD448B. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a policy with the target as a Custom group that contains the WX5004 device (or the ports indicate GigaBitEthernet port). 2. Create an action: VLAN Manager: configure VLAN, using valid VLAN information. 3. Add this action to the policy created in step Manually enforce the policy. The policy will be successful. 5. Go to the history of the policy and notice that the action results are: Failed to create/modify VLAN on device <IP address>. Ports provided for the purpose of configuration are invalid on this device. Update 1 VLAN Management (PR_57092): PCM may incorrectly show VLAN port membership and tagging for 3Com devices. Steps to reproduce: 1. Discover a 3Com device. 2. Click on tabs Port List > Port Assignment. 3. For each VLAN, the port assignment information is incorrect. Although a port is not tagged/ untagged, it is still displayed as a member of the VLAN. In some cases even if the port is a tagged/ untagged member of a VLAN, it is not shown in PCM. Device Log (PR_62344): PCM fails to decode some SYSLOG messages for H3C wireless devices. Steps to reproduce: 1. Enable syslog on H3C wireless devices. 2. In the syslog tab of PCM, an example log is as follows: 16

Known Issues for PCM 3.20 Updates Warn: Replaced non-printable characters with # - Sep 15 12:51: H3C WX3008 %%10HWCM/4/TRAP(t): # configure changed: # EventIndex=11,CommandSource=2,ConfigSource=3,ConfigDestination=2 Device Manager (PR_62352): Invalid characters in the hostname, per RFC 1033, can cause CLI Test communication parameter fails for non-procurve devices with SSH capability. Device Manager (PR_62353): SNMPv3 user password is not retained for non-management users during configuration. Steps to reproduce: 1. In the Device Manager >Communication Parameters window, select Device > Create an SNMPv3 User and create a new SNMPv3 user with group as manager and provide Auth and Priv passwords. 2. Do not select this SNMPv3 user as the management user. 3. Finish the configuration of this new user. 4. Open the Device Manager > Communication Parameters window again. 5. Create a Config Template for the device using Config Manager. 3. Modify some of the configuration in the template while creating it. 4. Deploy this template on the device. 17

Known Issues for PCM 3.20 Updates 5. On successful deployment, notice that the logical interface (the VLAN interface) appears on the Port List > Port Access, Port Assignment, and Port Status tabs windows. 6. On rediscovery of the device, the logical interface is removed however (a) the untagged information of the port is lost and (b) the Port Status page is blank and takes more than a minute to get updated. Groups (PR_62757): A length limitation in Custom Groups only allows for approximately 270 characters in the tree for custom groups, which limits the group name and any subgroups underneath it. If a group name is restricted to a length of about 30, then about 8 sub groups will be allowed. Help (PR_63611): If online help is requested for the Monitor Progress window in the Script Wizard, the correct Help page is not displayed. Help (PR_63791): The PCM Help content for the Last Reboot and Reboot Count are not incorporated into the help files. Specifically: Last Reboot label in the dashboard for Device List and custom group. Last Reboot and Reboot count column in the uptime reports. Reports (PR_63794, PR_63799): A device has a reboot count that is retained on the basis of the agent it was associated with. When the device is moved to a new agent, the reboot count of the device will reset to 1 in the Device Uptime and Status Report. If the device is moved back to an old agent, the reboot count returns to the original value before the move. Reports (PR_63952): In the Device Uptime and Status Report, the Reboot Count stays associated with the IP address rather than the device. Event Manager (PR_64017): The PCM Event Viewer fails to decode reboot-related events for H3C devices; non-printable characters are replaced with '#'. An example message is as follows: Warn: Replaced non-printable characters with # - Corresponding entity is rebooted with Image with configuration due to Upgrade at time ####%# with the reload Action ReloadAtOnce. 18

Known Issues for PCM 3.20 Updates Dashboard (PR_64150): Serial number, SW version, and ROM values are not populated for RF manager in the dashboard. Mapping (PR_65050): In the network map, the port names used for trunk ports are not correct for switches running K software. 19

Limitations in PCM 3.20 Updates Limitations in PCM 3.20 Updates Update 4 Configuration Manager - SCP is not supported, Deploy template IP changes not allowed. PCM can configure only user level 1 and user level 3. For SNMP communities that are manually configured, you must include all ISO MIBs in the corresponding view. SSSH key authentication is not supported. You cannot disable telnet and SSH through the Device Manager GUI. SNMP v3 events are not supported. For all H3C Routers, PCM supports only New MIB and hence only this style should be loaded on the devices VLAN Management - Port to a VLAN cannot be tagged or un-tagged in PCM. 20
