9 9 Overview This document describes the configuration of a Multimedia Communication Server 5100 (MCS 5100) system with an AudioCodes system Integration prerequisites Table 1 Pre-integration checklist You have basic programming and provisioning skills for your network Nortel recommends that you complete product-specific training before you begin the systems integration A complete list of courses is available at wwwnortelcom A system baseline is established for the MCS 5100 and AudioCodes so that the systems are configured and working in a stand-alone environment Use Table 1 "Pre-integration checklist" (page 9) to complete the system baseline System parameters required to successfully complete the integration are recorded Record the parameters listed in Table 2 "Integration parameters" (page 10) during the initial planning phase of the integration Task Reference Comments MCS 5100 software is Release 40 If MCS 5100 is not at Release 40, refer to MCS Upgrades Release 3x to Release 40 (NN ) 1 From the management PC, open Internet Explorer 2 Enter server IP address>:12120 in the address bar 3 Click the Launch MCP System Console link 4 Log onto Management Console using the username and password provided by the system administrator 5 Select Network Elements > System Manager > SystemManager > Instance Solution Integration Guide for Multimedia Communication Server 5100 Release 40 and AudioCodes NN Standard MCS 5100 Release March 2008

16 16 AudioCodes configuration 2 Select Edit Clients The Client Configuration page appears 3 Select Add New Client A client with blank parameters is displayed 4 For Client MAC, type the MAC address of the Gateway The MAC address is printed on a label located on the base of the Mediant Verify that the check box next to Client MAC is selected This enables the particular client in the BootP tool If the client is disabled, no replies are sent to BootP requests 6 For Client Name, type a descriptive name for the client 7 For IP, type the IP address you want to assign the Gateway 8 For Subnet, enter the subnet mask you want to assign the Gateway Ensure that the subnet mask is correct If the address is incorrect, the Gateway may not function until the entry is corrected and a BootP reset is applied 9 For Gateway, enter the IP address for the default Gateway 10 Click Apply to save this entry to the list of clients 11 Click OK 12 Reboot the AudioCodes system The AudioCodes system acquires a new IP address, displayed in the status window End Accessing the AudioCodes embedded Web server Perform the procedure below to access the AudioCodes embedded Web server Step Action 1 Change the IP address and subnet mask of your computer to the appropriate Mediant 2000 IP address and subnet mask listed in the table below For more information on changing your computer s IP address and subnet mask, refer to Windows help Solution Integration Guide for Multimedia Communication Server 5100 Release 40 and AudioCodes NN Standard MCS 5100 Release March 2008

17 Assigning an IP address to the AudioCodes Mediant Gateway 17 Mediant 2000 version Single module (up to 8 trunks) Double module (up to 16 trunks) Default values Module 1 IP address Subnet mask Default Gateway Module 1 IP address (trunks 1 8) Module 2 IP address (trunks 9 16) Subnet mask for modules 1 and 2 Default Gateway for modules 1 and 2 abcd abcd 2 Connect the Mediant 2000 to your computer by doing one of the following: Connect the computer s network interface to a port on a network hub or switch Then, connect the Mediant 2000 to another port on the same network hub or switch Use an Ethernet crossover cable to connect the PC s network interface directly to the Mediant In a Web browser, enter the Web address of the Mediant Gateway module (for example, for the second module of the Mediant 2000) The AudioCodes logon window appears 4 Type the AudioCodes Username and Current Password The default for both the Username and Current Password is admin 5 Click OK The AudioCodes Quick Setup page appears End Assigning an IP address to the AudioCodes Mediant Gateway Perform the procedure below to assign an IP address to the Audiocodes Mediant Gateway Step Action 1 Access the AudioCodes embedded Web server Solution Integration Guide for Multimedia Communication Server 5100 Release 40 and AudioCodes NN Standard MCS 5100 Release March 2008

18 18 AudioCodes configuration 2 In the Quick Setup page, configure the parameters listed in the table below to correspond to your IP network Parameter IP address NAT IP address Subnet mask Default Gateway IP address Value Type the IP address for the AudioCodes Gateway Type the NAT IP address only if the AudioCodes Gateway is connected to a router with NAT enabled Type the subnet mask for the AudioCodes IP address Type the default Gateway for the AudioCodes system If your network does not have a default Gateway in place, enter a dummy address 3 Click the Reset button 4 When prompted by a confirmation message, click OK The AudioCodes Gateway applies the changes and restarts This process takes approximately three minutes 5 If the the second module is installed on the AudioCodes Gateway, repeat steps 2 through 4 6 Disconnect the AudioCodes Gateway from the hub or switch or the computer, and reconnect the Gateway to your network Note: Remember to restore your PC s IP address, subnet mask, and default Gateway to gain access to the network End Configuring SIP on the AudioCodes Mediant Gateway Perform the procedure below to configure basic SIP parameters on the AudioCodes Gateway Step Action 1 Access the AudioCodes embedded Web server 2 In the Quick Setup page, configure the SIP parameters as shown in the table below Solution Integration Guide for Multimedia Communication Server 5100 Release 40 and AudioCodes NN Standard MCS 5100 Release March 2008

19 Configuring SIP on the AudioCodes Mediant Gateway 19 Parameter Gateway Name Working with Proxy Proxy IP Address Proxy Name Enable Registration Coder Value Enter the Mediant 2000 domain name If this field is not specified, the Mediant 2000 IP address is used by default If you are using a proxy server, select Yes and enter the IP address of the primary proxy server for Proxy IP Address If you are not using a proxy server, select No The internal routing table routes calls when no proxy is used If Working with Proxy is set to Yes, enter the IP address of the primary proxy server If you enter a Proxy Name, it replaces the proxy IP address in all SIP messages This means that messages are still sent to the physical proxy IP address but the SIP URI contains the Proxy Name instead If you select No, the Mediant 2000 does not register to a proxy server/registrar (default) If you select Yes, the Mediant 2000 registers to a proxy server/registrar at power up and at a regular interval as defined by the Registration Time parameter in the ini file Select the coder that best suits your VoIP system requirements The default coder is G msec To program the entire list of coders you want the Mediant 2000 to use, click the button to the left of the 1st Coder field Coders higher on the list are preferred and take precedence over coders lower on the list 3 Click the button next to Tel to IP Routing Table The Tel to Routing Table page appears 4 Select the range of entries you wish to edit from the Routing index menu 5 Select Tel to IP Routing Mode 6 Configure the Tel to IP Routing Table as shown in the table below Solution Integration Guide for Multimedia Communication Server 5100 Release 40 and AudioCodes NN Standard MCS 5100 Release March 2008

20 20 AudioCodes configuration Parameter Value Description Dest Phone Prefix Enter * Each entry in this field represents a called number prefix 1 to 19 digits in length An asterisk (*) represents a wildcard Source Phone Prefix Enter * These fields represent a calling telephone number prefix 1 to 19 digits in length An asterisk (*) represents a wildcard Dest IP Address Profile ID Enter the IP address of the SIP Gateway or application server This routes all PSTN calls to one particular device without any AudioCodes manipulation Type the IP address assigned to the prefixes Domain names, such as domaincom, can be used instead of IP addresses When using a domain name, you must enter a DNS server IP address Any telephone number with a destination number matching the Dest Phone Prefix and a source number matching the Source Phone Prefix is sent to the IP address configured in the IP Address field Tel to IP routing can be performed according to a combination of source and destination phone prefixes, or using each independently You can assign an additional entry of the same prefixes to enable alternative routing Optional Type the number of the IP profile assigned to the destination IP address defined in the Destination IP Address field Status N/A This is a read-only field representing the Quality of Service (QoS) of the destination IP address N/A = Alternative Routing feature is disabled OK = IP route is available Solution Integration Guide for Multimedia Communication Server 5100 Release 40 and AudioCodes NN Standard MCS 5100 Release March 2008
