1 Software Announcement August 19, 2003 Infoprint Server for iseries V5R2 and Infoprint Designer for iseries V1R1 enhancements extend business communications capabilities Overview Infoprint Server for iseries provides the key elements to extend the creation and management of PDF output from print into electronic communications. Enhancements to V5R2 include leading-edge business communications and output transformation functions: Intelligent Routing that distributes different print file segments by different means, such as print, fax, and web A new non-programmer interface to support Intelligent Routing by categorizing users, print files and print file segments Improved file naming and placement Encryption and password protection of output data Reductions in PDF file size Support for 2D barcodes and planet barcodes Support for full-process colour Improved control over the orientation of a viewed document Infoprint Designer for iseries is a professional, high-precision document design system specifically geared to the demands of business communications. Enhancements to V1R1 include: A new design wizard that steps the user through the design of more complex documents Support for 2D barcodes and MICR Support for French, German, Italian and Spanish Support for new finishing options, such as stapling and punching, on print file segment boundaries Full-fidelity preview of complex documents, such as those with constant back overlays Support for JPEG, GIF, BMP, ICO and PTR image formats in addition to TIFF and AFP Support for line data output Enhanced look and feel These enhancements to Infoprint Server and Infoprint Designer are available to existing customers via PTFs. Key prerequisites Infoprint Server for iseries: Infoprint Server for iseries runs on any AS/400 or IBM iseries Model 150 or higher. The PASE environment is required for the ASCII to AFP transforms. Infoprint Designer for iseries: Infoprint Designer requires Intel Pentium II or compatible hardware with a minimum of 333 MHz. Depending on the display, an appropriate graphics accelerator card with a minimum of 8 megabytes of RAM. Operating environments for the Windows clients are Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The OS/400 operating environment is V4R5 or higher. iseries Access, including the Toolkit, is the required system connection for the Infoprint Designer client. At a glance Significant enhancements for Infoprint Server for iseries V5R2 and Infoprint Designer for iseries V1R1 extend your e-business communications capabilities. Infoprint Server for iseries V5R2 is being enhanced with Intelligent Routing, giving you the ability to dynamically profile and distribute output in different forms to different customers and users. A new interface for business communication functions will ease application deployment. Infoprint Designer for iseries V1R1, the document design system for iseries, is being enhanced with a new wizard-based interface that allows the design of more complex documents. 2 Description Infoprint Server for iseries V5R2 Enhancements to Infoprint Server extend the benefits of deployment, particularly in the following areas: More advanced business communications: With new functions such as electronic segmentation and Intelligent Routing, highly-complex business output flow is possible. The ability to profile receivers of business communications and tailor how information reaches them is central to the high return on investment that these business transformations produce. iseries management of critical business communications: The iseries retains the central management role with Infoprint Server. Distribution of business output is a critical business function that should not be downloaded to Windows, Add colour: Full colour documents are now possibly with these enhancements to Infoprint Server and Infoprint Designer. Secure communications: The new encryption functions with PDF enable secure dissemination of sensitive business documents and reports. Total, integrated functionality: Infoprint Server output functions are integrated into the iseries output architecture. All the standard iseries output formats SCS, AFP, IPDS and so forth flow smoothly to PDF and into the segmentation and Intelligent Routing options. In addition, other iseries functions, such as iseries Access and Web Access, have been enhanced to tap into Infoprint Server capabilities. Affordable: With Infoprint Server, you get very sophisticated output functions at a very low cost. The cost is further reduced when you factor in Software Maintenance, under which you don t pay per-call charges for ongoing maintenance. Extended printing capabilities and flexibility: Infoprint Server provides support for those output languages common to both iseries and network environments, including SCS, AFP, line data, PostScript, PCL and PDF. Infoprint Server protects your investment in printing applications and hardware while providing the extensions critical to re-engineering printing and output business functions. Enhancements for Infoprint Server for iseries V5R2 Intelligent Routing: Previously, the Infoprint Server PDF subsystem enabled you to transform a print file or segment of a print file to PDF and then specify one of these actions. Spool as PDF to an output queue Store as a PDF file in the integrated file system (IFS) Send as an attachment to an All print files or print file segments in a specified processing run (determined by output queue) had to have the same action in other words, all were spooled to an output queue or all were sent as . With Intelligent Routing, you can do any combination of these actions with each output PDF file. If the file contains group tags, you can segment the print file at group boundaries and distribute each segment in any combination of these ways: Spool it to an output queue as PDF Store it as a stream file in the integrated file system Send it as Respool it as AFP for print, fax or other operation In addition, you can instruct the Intelligent Routing function to take multiple actions on a given file or segment. For example, you can define a segment for the customer who wants both an ed copy and a printed copy. Each segment can be defined differently. Print files and print file segments can be respooled separately, enabling both downstream print and fax operations. Definition of Intelligent Routing functions can be done either with the existing user exit interface or with the new set of commands (PDF mapping interface) for setup and profiling. PDF Mapping Interface: The new PDF mapping interface significantly eases the transformation of document distribution. It does not rely on user exits, which the PDF subsystem used for all but the simplest distribution functions. With the new PDF mapping interface, a new set of commands enables an end user to create a set of profiles that provide the required information. This data can be created without application programming. The PDF mapping interface captures two kinds of information. First, there is a table of entries that define or identify the target print file segment. Data fields such as output queue, filename, user, user data, form type and group code can be used to select the target. Second, a set of action entries is set up for each selected target. Here, the data supporting , respool to AFP, respool to PDF and write into IFS are defined. For example, if one of the operations on the selected print file or print file segment is , then the data requirements of address, subject, message text, CC addressed, BCC addressed, reply-to addresses, file attachments and PDF characteristics such as encryption can be specified. Multiple operations can be defined for each print file or print file segment. For example, an invoice segment within a print file can be profiled to be to several IDs with copies to several others, written to IFS for web access and queued as AFP to a remote printer for printing. AFP Respool: You can now respool a print file or print file segment as AFP after PDF processing. The respooled file can be printed or left on the spool for other operations, such as fax. PDF Distribution Recovery: This function allows you to specify an administrator s address to use for error notification when you are transforming a spooled file to PDF. Whenever possible, the PDF file is attached to the , enabling error recovery operations. PDF Encryption: You can now specify security options such as encryption and password protection when you create a PDF file from a print file or print file segment. Both master and use passwords can be specified. Secured data is physically encrypted in the PDF and a password is required for decryption or viewing. In addition, several related security functions are available, such as optionally blocking the ability to change, print, copy or annotate the print file. Full colour image support: You can now design and distribute documents with full-colour image content. A

3 iseries documents containing colour can be transformed to PDF for viewing or printing with the colour intact. 2D and Planet barcode support: PDF support in Infoprint Server is enhanced to include support for the UPS Maxicode, PDF417 and Datamatrix two-dimensional barcode symbologies. Documents encoded with these barcodes can be transformed from AFP to PDF while preserving the barcode definitions. Among the tools available to encode these new barcodes in iseries output are: Page Printer Formatting Aid/400 (PPFA/400), program number 5798-AF3. Support for 2D barcodes was added in V5R1. OS/400 Data Description Specifications (DDS). Support for 2D barcodes was added in V5R2. Infoprint Designer for iseries V1R1. Support is announced in this announcement and is available via PTFs. The Planet barcode, a variant of zipcode, is now supported with Infoprint Server PDF processing. PDF naming and routing: Infoprint Server previously generated file names for PDF files that were a combination of system file name, job name, date and spool file number. Such a name might look like _00013_QPDCDVV_ _ PDF and is not very usable in PDF deployments. In addition, the user had little control over the actual IFS directory where the PDF file is written. With these enhancements, you now have complete control over the PDF file name and IFS location for each print file or print file segment transformed to PDF for IFS routing. PDF orientation: When you use Infoprint Server to convert a landscape spooled file to PDF, the pages will be automatically rotated when you view them so that you no longer have to turn your head 90 degrees to read them. PDF file size improvements: As a result of a number of improvements in the PDF file content, PDF files are much smaller, resulting in less processing and less network impact when they are distributed Infoprint Designer for iseries V1R1 Infoprint Designer for iseries provides a professional, high-precision document design system specifically geared to the demands of business communications. It is a complete document environment with overlay, image and layout design editors. Enhancements to Infoprint Designer extend the benefits of deployment, particularly in the following areas: More effective documents: You can create more complex, more effective documents easily, productively and quickly Double iseries integration: Infoprint Designer is integrated with iseries both in the design process and, once a redesign is done, in the production process. No spool monitors, data conversions, add-on subsystems or additional special commands Design assist for complex documents: Enhancements such as the design wizard make it easier to create more complex documents High function, professional design system: Infoprint Designer was built as a design GUI for AFP pages. It now includes high-function elements that support complex document design, two-dimensional barcodes, finishing and full colour. Application independence: Designer applications integrate into the existing output architecture so that no changes are normally required in application programs. Enhancements for Infoprint Designer for iseries V1R1 Design Wizard: A new wizard-based interface addresses the need to design more complex documents. This includes documents where: Output is produced duplex or landscape There is fixed (constant) data on the back side of each duplexed page, such as terms and conditions text on the back of an invoice Data on each page is tested, with the overlay chosen according to results of the test Multiple types of copies are required, such as a customer copy, file copy and packing copy with different formatting Different pages must be pulled from different printer input drawers or routed to different output bins. The design wizard works with the input page data and steps you through these operations, page by page. The tree windows for form definition and page definition are synchronized so that adjustments can also be made using those views. 2D barcode: Infoprint Designer now supports the major two-dimensional barcode symbologies, UPS Maxicode, PDF417 and Datamatrix. These barcode symbologies encrypt data in two directions and can store far greater amounts of data. For example, PDF417 can store over 3,000 characters in one barcode. 2D barcodes can be used in an overlay or can be used to map print data in the Layout Editor. National language support: Infoprint Designer is now available in French, German, Italian and Spanish in addition to English. Finishing: Finishing operations, such as stapling and punching, are now supported. This support includes the capability to finish by print file segment. For example, a print file may contain customer invoices, each of which consists of multiple pages. With group finishing, you can staple each customer invoice set. Other finishing operations supported include z-fold, edge and saddle stitch and punch. Enhanced document preview: Infoprint Designer preview functions are extended to enable full-fidelity preview of complex documents. This includes constant-back documents, where the back of a page consists entirely of fixed overlays without any variable data. Enhanced preview enables you to view the document exactly as it will print. Full-colour image: The iseries full-process colour image standard is implemented in Infoprint Designer, both for image creation and for image placement. You can now design and distribute documents with full-colour content. Infoprint Designer now supports the AFP IOCA FS45 image type, the iseries standard for full-process colour images that are highly compressed. Infoprint Designer allows you to create FS45 images using the Image Editor and position them in your document. -3- A

4 Line data input: Applications that have been implemented using Infoprint Designer define output as line data, not SCS. Support has been enhanced to design with line data in addition to SCS, which means that these applications can be modified without additional changes to the application printer file. MICR: Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) fonts are special fonts used on the bottom line of checks for automated check routing and processing. MICR fonts are now included with Infoprint Designer so that you can print checks without having to load different paper for each checking account. These fonts are 300 DPI raster fonts that were developed for use with the IBM 4028 printer. Since MICR characters are subject to a stringent optical standard but are read magnetically, it is important that you: Use a printer with the appropriate magnetic toner Have your bank verify the acceptability of trial output from the same printer you will use for production The MICR fonts included with Infoprint Designer have not been verified to print acceptably on any IBM printer other than the 4028 or on printers from other manufacturers. IBM does not claim that the use of these MICR fonts on any printer will meet the requirements of check-processing equipment. Enhanced look and feel: The Infoprint Designer user interface has been changed to provide a more consistent Windows design. Product positioning Infoprint Server for iseries: Infoprint Server provides business communication functions that can be used by any iseries organization, large or small. The main focus of Infoprint Server is distributed output, with electronic segmentation and Intelligent Routing functions the key differentiators. An additional component of Infoprint Server, Create AFP Data (CRTAFPDTA), enables the batch segmentation of print files, the indexing of print files by embedded data and the creation of portable AFP data. Another additional component, ASCII image transforms, provides for conversion of GIF, TIFF and JPEG image formats to IOCA (AFP) for use in iseries document applications. A third additional component, AFP print transforms, enables the conversion of ASCII print files in PDF, PCL and PostScript formats to AFP for printing or processing on iseries. Infoprint Server offers a number of interfaces to PDF and document distribution functions to choose from: A special interface built into iseries Access A direct interface with Web Access A printer file interface for simple distribution requirements A new PDF mapping set of commands for set-up by non-programmers A user exit interface for complex deployment applications Infoprint Server is a natural complement to customers using PSF/400 and IPDS printers since these customers: 1. Are likely to produce AFP pages 2. Expect industrial-strength solutions Customers in a number of industry segments, such as finance, banking, and insurance, may need Infoprint Server functions just to stay competitive. Infoprint Designer for iseries: Infoprint Designer is the natural replacement product for AFP Utilities (5649-AF1, 5716-AF1, 5763-AF1, 5769-AF1). AFP Utilities overlays that are built with coded fonts can be imported into Infoprint Designer. Special applications that use the Print Format Utility function of AFP Utilities cannot be migrated to Infoprint Designer. Note that graphical overly design, most of what AFP Utilities does, is a small part of what Infoprint Designer can do. A number of industries, such as finance, distribution, insurance, utility and banking, have large numbers of documents and would benefit from a full-function document design system. Infoprint Designer in general requires application data to be consistent variable data is expected to be in predictable locations for optimal formatting. Application changes may be required in some cases to place data in a consistent format. Infoprint Designer is a good choice for customers utilizing the other components of the iseries output system IPDS for printing, Infoprint Server for document distribution and PDF services, OnDemand for archiving and so forth. Enhancements are delivered via a PTF to the V4R5 base version. The enhancements are included in PTF SF67733, which is already available. PTF SF67733 also includes an upgrade to the 1.14 level. A
