Context awareness: behave differently to users based on their context c. Device and network adaption: need to adapt variety of devices with numerous configuration d. Local collaboration: A mobile application should collaborate with local resources like memory, storage, clock speed and other on device applications.it includes sharing data and services within the device and between devices. 10. Define scalability of pervasive computing application. In a pervasive computing environment, new entity like human, electronic devices, peripherals may enter indefinitely.say a new printer can be added and a new student can application be enrolled for attendance in smart class room. In such cases the system should adapt to the increment of entities.

The WAP protocol architecture is shown below alongside a typical Internet Protocol stack. <List the layers in architecture, and describe each its functions involved in it> WAP is designed in a layered fashion so that it can be extensible, flexible, and scalable. As a result, there are five layers: Application Layer Session Layer Transaction Layer It offers three classes of transaction services Class0:provides unreliable one-way messages without confirmation Class1:provide reliable one way message without result Class2: provides reliable two way request-response messages. Security Layer WTLS give several options for key exchange including RSA, Diffie-Hellman, ECC-Elliptic Curve Cryptography. Privacy can be secured using DES-Data Encryption Standard and IDEA-International Data Encryption Algorithm. Transport Layer Wireless Datagram Protocol (WDP). Error during transmission is communicated via WCMP-Wireless Control Message Protocol

5 <Refer course notes for detailed answer for each layer> B. What is WML script? Write a WML script to convert the given temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Temperature converter WML deck:

Write a document object model that reads an XML documents from a given URL and counts the number of occurrences of a given prefix in the XML document. <First provide the answer: what is DOM?> DOM is a standard for programmatically accessing the structure and data contained in XML document. It defines the programmatic interface includes names and properties. <The document object model is located in the TEXT book page no.259 Example 9.10> <Refer course notes for description>

8 14. A. List and briefly describe the various PDA software components and standards Software components are meant for synchronization, process of data, exchange them with other devices. <List the SW components> Applications Connectivity Synchronization Device management <Explain each topics with relevant data like calendars, to-do list for applications, Bluetooth for connectivity, modified data need to be updated: sync, ISPs for device management> STANDARDS <Standards are to be fixed for the relevant content used across PDA to overcome incompatibility> Electronic document Formats <Discuss the topic with example HTML markups for simple style, formattingrefer course notes> Synchronization protocols <discuss the need of SYNC, while the devices are variant in nature. Discuss about MAL> Database formats Application data specific format Operating system specific format Comma separated values Electronic document standards Local store with logical appearance of Relational DB (IBM DB2 Everyplace) B. With neat diagram explain about J2EE application model. <GIVE A SHORT INTRODUCTION ON J2EE> The Java 2 platform, Enterprise Edition reduces the cost and complexity of developing these multi-tier services, resulting in services that can be rapidly deployed and easily enhanced as the enterprise responds to competitive pressures.

9 <DIAGRAM J2EE APPLICATION MODEL FROM COURSE NOTES or TEXT BOOK page No.243 Figure 9.1> Two tier model The J2EE application model provides the benefits of Write Once, Run Anywhere portability and scalability for multi-tier applications. This standard model minimizes the cost of developer training while providing the enterprise with a broad choice of J2EE servers and development tools. The J2EE application model is a major step forward in simplifying and expediting application development, by minimizing the complexity of building multi-tier applications. <Describe briefly on EJB, JSP, IDL, servlets, connector, directory interface, JMS, JTS, java mail, RMI-IIOP, JNDI> <Description available in course notes and in TEXT book page no.244> 15. A.i.What is JSP? Explain the elements of JSP. <Give an introduction on JSP & its features> Java Server Pages (JSP) is a technology that helps software developers create dynamically generated web pages based on HTML, XML, or other document types. A Java Server Page (JSP) is a template for a web page that uses Java code to generate an HTML document dynamically. They are run on the server in a JSP container which translates

10 them into equivalent servlets. They are text files similar to HTML pages with some additional tags which generate dynamic content. Servlets and JSP pages are intimately related. Advantages over servlets: They are automatically recompiled when necessary. They are HTML like so they have greater compatibility with web development tools. Addressing JSP pages is simpler than addressing servlets. <List the elements and describe its syntax> There are three types of JSP elements: Directive Element: A JSP element that provides global information for the translation phase. There are two ways to write a directive element: <%@ directive_name attribute=value... %> Action Element: A JSP element that provides information for the execution phase. <action_name attribute=value...>action_body</action_name> <action_name attribute=value.../> Scripting Element: A JSP element that provides embedded Java statements. There are three types of scripting elements: Declaration Element: A JSP element that provides the embedded Java declaration statements to be inserted into the Servlet class. <%! Java decalaration statements %> Scriptlet Element: A JSP element that provides the embedded Java statements to be executed as part of the service method of the Servlet class. There are two ways to write a scriptlet element: <% Java statements %> Expression Element: A JSP element that provides the embedded Java expressions to be evaluated as part of the service method of the Servlet class. There are two ways to write an express element: <% Java expressoins %> A.ii. List and describe the steps involved in the JSP process. Step1:- Request from Client: A JSP page has the extension as.jsp. The client request is made on the web browser by going to the.jsp extension JSP file. Step2:-Request Sent To Server: The request received from client (web browser) is sent to the server side.

11 Step3:-JSP Servlet Engine: Since the extension of request made has.jsp extension, it indicates that it is a JSP file and therefore the web server passes the request received to the JSP Servlet Engine. Step4:-Process of generating servlet: JSP files are compiled by the JSP engine into a servlet. This step creates the.jsp file as a Java servlet source file. Step5:-Process of making class file: The source file from Step4 is compiled into a class file. Step6:- Instantiation of Servlet: The instantiation of servlet is performed using the init and service methods. In these methods, the jspinit() method is defined by the developer and the jspservice method is generated by the JSP engine. Step7:-Output HTML: `The request received from client is executed and the output is sent as HTML. Step8:- Client Receives the Output: The Client Receives the Output and thus the result namely the HTML gets displays in the client browser. B. With neat diagram explain about smart card based authentication. <List the major types of authentication mechanisms > List the various types SSL/TLS, Symmetric key Then explain the next two in detail <Explain the first using the above diagram- refer course notes>

12 < Explain the second using the above diagram- refer course notes >
