Displaying HR Organizational Tree Structure in Web Dynpro Applies to: This Article applies to Web Dynpro Java, ABAP HR, and Enterprise Portal 7.0. For more information, visit the User Interface Technology homepage. Summary This document describes about How to address a Real time Business Scenario in which the table data from an RFC s internal table (ABAP HR) is converted into an Organization Tree structure. This Organization Structure is displayed in a tree format with expanding and collapsing nodes (Organization Units and Positions) in Web Dynpro for Java View. Author: Ramesh Babu Kotagiri Company: Intelligroup Inc Created on: 7 January Author Bio Ramesh Babu Kotagiri is working as a Consultant in Intelligroup. 3 Introduction In one of my recent projects I have a requirement in which I need to enhance the standard ESS and MSS DC to show Profile Matchup Report. The enhancement is such that, the employee or the manager on behalf of his reportees needs to select a Position or Organization Unit in order to run the Profile Matchup report against that selected Position or Organization unit. To enable an employee or manager to select Org unit or Position, I have provided an Organization Tree structure with expanding and collapsing nodes. The data into this tree is captured from ABAP HR RFC. The data from an internal table is converted and displayed into a Tree Format. Since providing Organization structure in a tree format for selection of Org Units or Positions can be a very useful scenario which people may come across at different scenarios with HR based applications in Web Dynpro java, I thought of sharing this with the community through this article. Scenario On click of a button in Initial View, Organization Structure is shown as Tree in a Popup and as and when the user selects a node (Position) the selected Position s or Org Unit s ID is returned to the Initial View. The tree data is dynamically populated at run time by converting the data from an RFC s internal table data (from HR System) appropriately into the tree nodes, sub nodes and leafs. Procedure Initial Setup Since the enhancements are done to standard MSS DC View, already there is a view exists and I have added a button in this view on click of which the Organization Structure Tree should be shown in popup. Creating Context Nodes and Attributes for the Tree A separate view is created (OrgTree View). 1. In the View Context create the Value Node (OrgTree) and create the required attributes under it as follows with the specified data types. Set the properties of the Org Tree node as shown in the image bellow. 2. Create a Recursion node (OrgUnit) under the node OrgTree and set its properties as follows 2010 SAP AG 3
3. Also create the following attributes in context root. Create Tree UI Element and set the Configurations 1. Create Tree UI Element under Root UI container of OrgTree View and set its properties as follows 2. Create a TreeNodeType under the OrgStru_Tree and set the properties as follows. Create Actions 1. Create an Action ClosePopup with out any parameters 2. Create Action SelectedPosInOrgTree with the parameter selectedelement of Type 2010 SAP AG 4
3. Create an Action LoadChildren with a parameter element of Type Create Window Create another window TreeWind apart from the default window and embed the OrgTree view in it. This window is used to open and close the popup on click of Show Org Structure button SAP AG 5
Code Code Block 1 Add the following code in WDDoModify of OrgTreeView public static void wddomodifyview(iprivateorgtreeview wdthis, IPrivateOrgTreeView.IContextNode wdcontext, com.sap.tc.web Dynpro.progmodel.api.IWDView view, boolean firsttime) //@@begin wddomodifyview if (firsttime) IWDTreeNodeType treenode = (IWDTreeNodeType) view.getelement("orgtreenodetype"); // parameter mapping from parameter "path" to parameter "selectedelement" treenode.mappingofonaction().addsourcemapping("path","selectedelement"); // parameter mapping from parameter "path" to parameter "element". treenode.mappingofonloadchildren().addsourcemapping("path","element"); //@@end Code Block 2 Add the following code in event handler of Show Org Structure button of Start (default) View. This Code will open a Popup Window and show the OrgTree View within it i.e. showing the Tree structure. IWDWindowManager windowmanager = wdcomponentapi.getwindowmanager(); IWDWindowInfo windowinfo = wdcomponentapi.getcomponentinfo().findinwindows("treewind"); IWDWindow window = windowmanager.createmodalwindow(windowinfo); window.setwindowposition(wdwindowpos.center); window.setwindowsize(new WDCssSize(400, WDWindowUnitOfLength.PX), WDCssSize.UNDEFINED); //Store handle to window in context attribute to be able to close it later wdcontext.currentcontextelement().setpopwindow(window); window.show(); Code Block 3 Create a button Close Popup in OrgTree View and add the following code in the button s event handler. //@@begin onactionclosepopup(serverevent) wdcontext.currentcontextelement().setorgstrustatus(false); IWDWindow wind = wdcontext.currentcontextelement().getpopwindow(); wind.close(); //wind.destroyinstance(); //@@end 2010 SAP AG 6
Code Block 4 Create a custom method addchildren( ) in OrgTree View. This method is called from CreateOrgStruRoots (see Code Block-5) for each root element to create child elements of it. public void addchildren( com.sap.xss.hr.eeprofile.profilematchup.vac.wdp.iprivateorgtreeview.iorgtreeelement Parent, java.lang.string PositionID ) //@@begin addchildren() IPrivateOrgTreeView.IOrgTreeNode orgtreenode = Parent.nodeOrgUnit(); IPrivateOrgTreeView.IOrgTreeElement orgtreeelem; for(int j=0;j<wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec().size();j++) String relatedposition = wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec().getta_result_objecelementat(j).getsobid(); if(relatedposition.equalsignorecase(positionid)) orgtreeelem = orgtreenode.createorgtreeelement(); orgtreeelem.seticonsource("~sapicons/s_b_crea.gif"); String strobjid = wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec().getta_result_objecelementat(j).getobjid(); String strobjname = wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec().getta_result_objecelementat(j).getstext(); orgtreeelem.setobjid(strobjid); orgtreeelem.settext(strobjname+" ("+strobjid+" )"); wdcontext.currentcontextelement().setpositionsearchtext(strobjname+" ( "+strobjid+" )"); orgtreeelem.sethaschildren(true); orgtreenode.addelement(orgtreeelem); addchildren(orgtreeelem,orgtreeelem.getobjid()); //@@end Code Block 5 Create a custom method CreateOrgStruRoots( ) and add the following code in it. This method should be called from wddoinit of the OrgTree View public void CreateOrgStruRoots( ) //@@begin CreateOrgStruRoots() //==============Create Root Node Elements of Type IOrgTreeNode IPrivateTreeView.IOrgTreeNode rootorgtreenode = wdcontext.nodeorgtree(); IPrivateTreeView.IOrgTreeElement rootorgtreeelement; String strsobid=null; String strobjid=null; for(int i=0;i<wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec_out().size();i++) strsobid = wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec_out().getta_result_objec_outelementat(i).getsobid().tri m(); 2010 SAP AG 7
strobjid = wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec_out().getta_result_objec_outelementat(i).getobjid(); strsobid = strsobid.substring(0,7); if(strsobid.startswith("0")) String Position = wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec_out().getta_result_objec_outelementat(i).getobjid(); String strposname = wdcontext.nodeta_result_objec_out().getta_result_objec_outelementat(i).getstext(); rootorgtreeelement = rootorgtreenode.createorgtreeelement(); rootorgtreeelement.settext(strposname+" ( "+Position+" )"); wdcontext.currentcontextelement().setpositionselected(strposname+"( "+Position+" )"); rootorgtreeelement.sethaschildren(true); rootorgtreeelement.seticonsource("~sapicons/s_clofol.gif"); rootorgtreeelement.setignoreaction(true); //============add the element to the rootorgtreenode rootorgtreenode.addelement(rootorgtreeelement); addchildren(rootorgtreeelement, position); //@@end Code Block 6 In the wddoinit method of the OrgTree View write the appropriate code for model execution. Call the enhanced RFC of the standard RFC Search_Position and execute the model here. In the ZRFC we have added an extra out parameter SOBID which returns the level of each Position/Org Unit returned and based on SOBID the logic is build to arrange the Positions/ Org Units in proper Order. If SOBID is all zeroes that Position should appear as the root node in the tree. Then Call the custom method CreateOrgStruRoots( ) SAP AG 8
Code Block 7 In the event handler of the Action created earlier SelectedPosInOrgTree in the OrgTree View, add the following code. This is called when ever a Position is selected by the end user, in the Tree i.e. when ever a node in the tree is selected. The result is, the selected node s values (PositionText and Position ID) are captured and stored in the context for further use. onactionselectedposinorgtree(com.sap.tc.web Dynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdevent, com.sap.xss.hr.eeprofile.profilematchup.vac.wdp.iprivateorgtreeview.iorgtreeelement selectedelement ) //@@begin onactionselectedposinorgtree(serverevent) wdcontext.currentcontextelement().setpositionsearchtext(selectedelement.gettext()); wdcontext.currentbccselectedpositionelement().setposition_name(selectedelement.gettex t()); wdcontext.currentpositionselement().setobjid(selectedelement.getobjid()); wdcontext.currentpositionselement().setotype(selectedelement.getotype()); //wdcomponentapi.getmessagemanager().reportsuccess("****** Position Selected :"+selectedelement.gettext()); //@@end Code Block 8 In the event handler of the Action created earlier LoadChildren in OrgTree View, add the following code. public void onactionloadchildren(com.sap.tc.web Dynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdevent, com.sap.xss.hr.eeprofile.profilematchup.vac.wdp.iprivateorgtreeview.iorgtreeelement element ) //@@begin onactionloadchildren(serverevent) addchildren(element,element.getobjid()); //@@end 2010 SAP AG 9
Test Run When you click on the Show Org Structure button of the Start (default) View, a Pop will be opened and within it you will see the OrgTree View which in turn displays the Organization Structure (retrieved from HR system through enhanced ZRFC) as follows When a position is selected by the end user in this Tree, an event is raised internally and the method onactionselectedposinorgtree is called. This method will capture the selected Position s Text and ID and store it in the context for further processing SAP AG 10
