9 WebSphere Version to Version Migration Now easier then ever to migrate WebSphere Application Server applications from older releases to WebSphere Application Server V7 Migrate WAS V5., V6., and V6. applications to WAS V7 The tool programmatically scans customer applications and identifies the changes required. 14 WebSphere Version to Version Migration Sample of Java rules (scans *.java files) Rule Name QF Description Check for behavior change on ServletResponse default content type Use the BigDecimal toplainstring() method instead of the tostring() method Do not use object pool features that were removed No Yes No The default content type for HttpServletResponse has changed from "text/html" to "text/plain" for servlets that do not set the content type. The BigDecimal tostring() method behaves differently than in earlier versions. JSE 5. added toplainstring() to BigDecimal, which behaves like the tostring() method in earlier versions. The quick fix changes tostring to a toplainstring. This rule flags the use of the object pool classes that were removed in WebSphere Application Server 6.. If a taglib is defined more than once in a JSP file or a statically included JSP file, it must have the same prefix. Check for the reserved sequence '#{' in JSP files Yes This rule flags the use of the '#{' reserved sequence in JSP files. In JSP., the syntax #{} is now a reserved keyword. Feature Pack for Enterprise JavaBeans 3. but not in WebSphere Application Server 7.. This rule flags Java EE 5 modules that do not have the metadata-complete attribute set.
