3 Administering the Events Module 3 Administering the Events Module As a community administrator, you can determine how users see and interact with events in Jive. Fastpath: Admin Console: Events The settings for the Events module allow you to enable and disable the Event content type in your community, and determine how community users can use it. Here are some of the ways you can deploy this content type. When you've installed the Events module, Events become one of the standard content types you can enable and disable for any space, group, or project. The event.default.enabled properties determine whether the Events content type is selected by default when you create a new place. You can still unselect it before creating the place. You can decide whether to make certain fields required. The Open, Private, and Closed event types are all available by default: these event types provide another layer of access permissions over the Place permissions that apply to the location where an event is created. You can use the jive.event.eventaccess properties to limit these event types. For example, you might choose to require all events to be Open. (Events can still be limited by capacity, or created in a private or secret group, if you don't want everyone to be able to read about or attend them.) Note: You can also configure user- or group-level permissions to the Event content type at the space level, just as you can with other content types. For more information, see "Custom Permission Levels and User Overrides for Spaces" in the main application Help. You can control the list of event types available by editing the settings for the jive.event.eventtypes property. For instance, to add the event type "Offsite," edit the value for jive.event.eventtypes by appending 7=Offsite to the value. You can limit the results in the Upcoming Events widget using the jive.event.upcoming.maxresults property. Limiting the number of results can improve performance. 5 Event Permissions 5 Event Permissions Event permissions are configured as part of the Space Permissions settings. Permissions for events are configured the same as for any other content type, within the Admin Console's Permissions tab under Space Permissions. Here, an administrator can determine which users or groups have permission to perform which actions with respect to events. As with other content types, you can grant Create, Contribute, or View permissions or select Advanced to create a custom set of entitlements.
