CdeSlice makes this prcess much easier by prviding simple a simple step-by-step interface fr inserting scripts within packages. After launching the installer, the Visual Stuid Extensin installer will appear. After installing CdeSlice, selecting "Insert Cde Slice..." after right-clicking anywhere within the design surface f a cntrl r data flw will launch CdeSlice and begin the prcess f adding a slice t the currently fcused cntrl r data flw. 6 Insert Cde Slice CdeSlice allws users the ability t add Script cmpnent and tasks t their SSIS Packages directly frm within their develpment envirnment. Table f Cntents Select Slice Enter Name Cnfigure Parameters Select Cnnectins Cnfigure Variables After installing CdeSlice, CdeSlice can be launched by right-clicking anywhere within the design surface f the cntrl r data flw and selecting the "Insert Cde Slice..." Once CdeSlice has laded, there will be a series f pages that will help users cnfigure the slice fr their package. These pages change depending n the slice that the user wishes t add t their cntrl r data flw. Fr example, sme slices may nt require parameters r cnnectin managers. In thse cases, the "Cnfigure Parameters" r "Select Cnnectins" will nt be displayed Select Slice: Allws users the ability t select the prgramming language and which slice they will be cnfiguring Enter Name: Prvides the user with ptins fr editing the name, descriptin, and (if applicable) the ability t map an input fr data flw transfrm and destinatin slices Cnfigure Parameters: If the currently selected slice cntains parameters, the Cnfigure Parameters page prvides users the ability t cnfigure thse parameters Select Cnnectins: If the currently selected slice requires cnnectin manager(s), the Select Cnnectins page prviders users the ability t map existing package r prject cnnectin managers fund within the SSIS Package Cnfigure Variables: Prvides the user with the ability t cnfigure which variable(s) will be available t the cde slice Navigating between the abve pages can be dne by using the previus and next buttns lcated n the lwer right f each page Created with the Standard Editin f HelpNDc: Easily create EPub bks

7 Select Slice The Select Slice page allws users the ability t select the prgramming language and which slice they will be cnfiguring. The slices displayed here are design surface dependent, s depending n whether r nt the user is adding a slice t the cntrl r data flw, nly slices fr that specific design surface will be displayed Lanuage: The prgramming language the user wishes the slice t generate the script cmpnent r task with. Users can chse between C# and VB Slice: The name f the slice that will be used t generate the script cmpnent r task. Descriptin: A brief descriptin f the selected slice Authr: The authr that riginally created the selected slice License: The license agreement that the user agrees t when he r she generates a script using the selected slice Once a slice has been selected, users can prceed t the next page. 8 Enter Name The Enter Name page allw users the ability t cnfigure the name and descriptin f the Script cmpnent r task that will be generated. Fr sme data flw slices, the Enter Name page als allws users the pprtunity t map a data flw utput t the generated script's input. Name: The name f the script cmpnent r task that will be used nce the script has been generated 2. Descriptin: A brief descriptin f the selected slice. Changing the descriptin will update the Script cmpnent r task's descriptin prperty nce the script has been generated 3. Input Mapping: Within specific data flw slices, an input mapping culd be required. Within the Input Mapping drpdwn windw will be a list f all available data flw utputs. 1. Once all prperties are in a valid state, users can prceed t the next page. 9 Cnfigure Parameters The Cnfigure Parameters page prvides a list f all the parameters fr the currently selected slice. Users can type directly int the parameter windw, r switch the parameter t be bund t a variable. Users cnfigure the parameters using direct input r they can switch t having a parameter be bund directly t a variable. Users can bind either t an existing variable, r they can create a new variable by selecting "New Variable...". Imprtant Nte: Only variables that match the data type fr the parameter will be displayed within the list f available variables. 10 Select Cnnectins If the currently selected slice requires cnnectin manager(s), the Select Cnnectins page prviders users the ability t map existing package r prject cnnectin managers fund within the SSIS Package t the cnnectin managers within the generated script Once all cnnectins have been cnfigured, users can prceed t the next page. 11 Cnfigure Variables The Cnfigure Variables page prvides the user with the ability t cnfigure which variable(s) will be available t the cde slice. Variables that were bund t parameters n the Cnfigure Parameters page will autmatically appear within the list f variables. Depending n whether the parameter they were bund t nly reads r reads and writes will depend n whether it appears as a Read-nly r Read-write variable. If the user plans n further custmizing their script after CdeSlice has generated it and need mre variables, they can mve mre variables t the lists f Read-nly r Read-write variables by selecting them and clicking the arrws t add r remve them. Imprtant Nte: Variables that are bund t parameters cannt be remved frm the lists f Read-nly r Read-write variables. T remve thse variables, first remve them frm their respective parameter binding.
