Get Adbe Reader XI T read the graphic nvel n yur cmputer yu need Adbe Reader. Adbe Reader is a free prgram and yu can get versins fr Windws, Mac r Linux cmputers.

Get Adbe Reader XI T read the graphic nvel n yur cmputer yu need Adbe Reader. Adbe Reader is a free prgram and yu can get versins fr Windws, Mac r Linux cmputers. If yu dn t have Adbe Reader n yur cmputer already, dwnlad and install it frm Set up Adbe Reader Preferences If yu see the Hw T windw n the right side f the screen, uncheck the Shw Hw T Windw at Startup t turn this ff. Click n Edit > Preferences > Dcuments and then tick Restre last view settings when repening dcuments. This means the bk will always pen at the last yu read. Click n Edit > Preferences and click n Reading: a. Set the Reading Order t Infer reading rder frm dcument (recmmended).

Click Edit > Preferences > Page Display and set Smth Text t be Fr Mnitr (if yu have a CRT mnitrs) r Fr laptp/lcd screens (if yu have a laptp r a flat panel screen). This will imprve the clarity f the text displayed n screen. Turning s and mving arund the bk T turn s, use the arrws n the tlbar, r right and left arrw keys n the keybard. T scrll up r dwn the : use the scrll bar; press the Space bar t mve dwn a screen at a time; press the Page up/dwn keys. Use the zm buttns if yu need t zm in n the paper. T fill the screen click the View Page Width buttn r press CTRL+2. T see the whle click the Fit Page buttn r press CTRL+0. T get back t 100% click n the arrw t the right f the magnificatin level and chse Actual Size Type number f and press Enter Previus Next Zm ut Zm in View width f View whle Click t see the chapters. Click t g t a chapter. T read the bk with the cmputer s vice, g t the menu: View > Read Out Lud and chse Activate Read Out Lud (r press Shift+Ctrl+Y) Then click n the text and it will be read ut. Chse the vice yu want by ging t Edit > Preferences > Reading. 2

Or try View > Page Display > Tw Page View t see tw s at a time. Press CTRL+H t read the bk in Read Mde this will hide the tlbar at the tp f the screen. Press CTRL+H again t shw the tlbars. Press CTRL+L t read the bk in Full Screen Mde. This hides everything apart frm the actual s f the bk. Click the muse buttn t turn s, r use the keybard as nrmal. Press the ESC key t g back t the usual view. Read Mde with 2 view Full Screen Mde Switch access Sme readers can t use the keybard r muse, and s may want t use switches t turn the s. Yu will need a switch interface t cnnect the switches t the cmputer; then set the switch r switches t cntrl the Left and Right arrw keys t turn s back and frward. Fr example, this Dn Jhnstn Switch Interface lets yu turn the s with switches. 3

Yu need a cmputer vice n yur machine, and mst cmputers will have ne r tw vices n them already Windws 7 will have Micrsft Anna fr example. Install the Scttish vices n yur cmputer The vices that cme with yur cmputer generally have American accents and s we suggest that yu install the Scttish vices ( Stuart and Heather ) frm ur web site at The vices are free fr schls and pupils. If yu are in a schl, yu may find that the vices are already installed n the cmputer. If nt, ask yur technician r cmputer administratr t install them. Parents can get a frm frm the web site, send it t us, and we ll send yu the vices n a CD t install n yur hme cmputer. Set up and chse yur vice Click n Edit > Preferences > Reading. Set the Reading Order t Infer reading rder frm dcument (recmmended). In Screen Reader Optins, fr Pages vs Dcuments, chse t Only read the current visible s. Read Out Lud can read using mst vices installed n yur cmputer. Chse yur vice by unticking Use default vice, and chse a vice frm the list. If yu want yur vice t speak at it s standard speed and pitch, tick Use default speech attributes. If yu want t adjust the vice, untick this, and then set the pitch and speed. The standard speed is usually 190 wrds per minute: if yu are new t text-t-speech yu might reduce the speed slightly t perhaps 180 wpm. Click OK. Read sme text Click View > Read Out Lud and then Activate Read Out Lud r press SHIFT+CTRL+Y. Click Tls > Select and Zm > Select Tl Nw click n sme text and it will be read ut. Yu can t select the text yu want t read just click in a paragraph and it will be read ut. T read the next paragraph r line, click with the muse r keep pressing the Dwn arrw key. T read the whle, click View > Read Out Lud > Read This Page nly r press SHIFT+CTRL+V. T read the whle bk, click View > Read Out Lud > Read t End f Dcument. T pause and restart the speech, press SHIFT+CTRL+C; t stp it press SHIFT+CTRL+E. 4

Click Cmment n the right side f the tlbar and then click Anntatins. Ntes Yu can use Ntes t cllect ideas and text as yu read thrugh the bk. Click n the Nte Tl, r right-click where yu want the Nte, and chse Add Nte. (This will nly wrk utside the answer bxes.) Highlights Highlights can be used t mark key lcatins r sectins f the text. Click n the Highlight buttn and then select the text t be highlighted. T delete the highlight, right-click n the highlight and chse Delete. T change the highlight clur, right-click n the highlight and chse Prperties. If yu want t keep the clur fr all yur highlights, tick Make Prperties Default. Text Cmments Use the Text Cmment tl t add ntes. T change the text cmment fnt and clur, type in yur first cmment, then select sme f the text yu have just typed. Yu shuld see the Prperties appear, and then yu can chse the fnt, size, clur etc. Recrd Audi The Recrd Audi tl lets yu recrd an audi cmment. Click n the Recrd Audi buttn then click n the t place yur recrding. Click the Red recrd buttn t start recrding and the black Stp buttn t stp. Once yu are happy, click OK, chse an icn, and the recrding will be inserted int the dcument. Yu can add as many recrdings as yu want. Drawing tls T draw a line n the bk, click n the Drawing Markups under Cmment, then click n the tl yu want t use. Viewing yur cmments and answers Click Cmments List in the Cmment tls t see all yur ntes, cmments and mark-ups. Yu can cpy these t anther applicatin such as Micrsft Wrd. 5
