Tips & Tricks on Ipad PAGE 1 Page 1 Copying & Pasting Page 2 Splitting the Keyboard Page 3 Capitalizing & Zooming Page 4 App Searching Page 5 Organizing Apps Page 6 Screen Shot & Finger Functions 1.) How do I copy and paste words or pictures from one place to another? A. When you find the text you want, press down on one of the words you want to copy. You will then see the word highlighted in blue and a blue bullet before and after the word. You will also see a box above with different choices. B. You will now drag those bullets to the words you want to copy. Once you have the words you want, tap Copy. (picture shown below) C. You can now go into another app, , etc. and press down on the screen. You should see the Paste option. Tap on Paste and your words should now appear. D. Copying & pasting a photo is very similar to the above directions. Find the picture you want, press down on it, tap the copy button, and paste it into or the app you prefer. If you choose Save Image, it will go into your photos.

1.) How can I split my keyboard on the Ipad? PAGE 2 A. First, you want to make sure the Split Keyboard function is turned on in the General Settings. (picture below) B. When your keyboard appears, press down in the middle and move your hands in the opposite direction. (You can use 2 fingers on the same hand if it is more comfortable.) You should see your keyboard split. (picture below) Just pinch the sides of the keyboard and push back to eliminate the split.

1.) How can I capitalize my letters? PAGE 3 A. Tap the arrow button once to make the next letter a capital. You will see the arrow turn blue. It will turn off automatically once you type the letter. B. Tap the arrow button twice to put the caps lock on. You will see the entire key turn blue. It will not turn off automatically until you tap it again. 2.) How do I zoom in on text when I am trying to read or when I am looking at a picture? A. Simply take 2 fingers and move them outwards to make the screen bigger. Pinch inward to make the screen smaller. 1.) I want to find a calculator app. How do I search for it?

1.) How do I search for a calculator app for my Ipad? PAGE 4 A. First, you want to tap on the App Store Icon. It is most likely located on the 1 st page of apps. B. Next, you can tap the Categories icon at the bottom of the screen. You will see a list of categories on the page and a search bar at the top right hand corner. C. In the search bar, you want to type the app you are looking for. In this case, we are using calculator as the example. D. When the results appear, you do have the option to change the criteria when you are searching. For example, you can only search for free apps if you choose it. Sample searches will automatically appear as you type in your search word or words. E. When you find the app you think you might like. Go ahead and tap on it. You then can read about it to see if it something that will fit your needs. Any app can always be deleted, so if the app is free, you have nothing to lose. Trying the free version first is always recommended if it is available. F. You will finally want to tap on the free button and tap install to start the downloading process.

1.) How do I organize all of my apps? PAGE 5 A. You do have the ability to create folders for your apps. (Let s say you have 5 Everyday Mathematics apps you want to put into a single folder.) B. Go ahead and press down on one of the apps on your screen. They should all start to shake and have an X on the top left corner. (If you wanted to delete the app, you would tap on the X.) C. With your finger, hold down one of the apps and drag on top of another app to create a folder. When the folder is created, a name will be given to it. You can choose to change the name. In this case, the Ipad wants to assign this folder s name as Education. I decided to change it to Everyday Math to be more specific. D. Once you have dragged all of the Everyday Math apps into your folder, you should know have all of them in one neat and organized spot. Please note that you are not able to change the name of an app when it is purchased.

PAGE 6 1.) How do I take a picture of my Ipad screen? A. You need to hold down the home and power buttons at the same time and then let go of them both quickly. You will hear a camera sound if you did it correctly. The picture can then be found in your photos. 2.) How can I get back to the home screen without always needing to hit the home button? A. Five-finger pinch: You just grab the screen at any point to get back to the home screen. 3.) What can the 4 finger commands do on the Ipad? A. Four-finger swipe up: This gesture will bring up the multitasking bar and recently used apps. Here you can pick a different app. Swiping back down will hide the multitasking bar and recently used apps. Multitasking bar where it shows all of your open apps. It is always a good idea to check this periodically to close out some of those running apps. To close apps, hold down one app until you see the red minus sign ( ) in the left hand corner and then tap it to close the app. B. Four-finger swipe left / right: You can make this gesture to quickly move through running and most recently used apps. You can quickly swipe between opened apps such as Mail, Safari, and Pages apps one after another. Think of this like turning pages in a book but with 4 fingers.
