1 My Digital Downloader Instruction Guide *MAC* My Digital Downloader is a desktop application to help you manage the download of your audio content. Without My Digital Downloader, when you download an audiobook, you have to unpack zip files, find suitable locations to store your content and manage your audio files yourself. With My Digital Downloader, the application takes care of all this for you, as well as giving you a nicely presented library in which to hold your collection of audio content. This guide will show you how to download, and utilise the application. Downloading My Digital Downloader (For MAC) Before My Digital Downloader starts managing your downloads, you must first download the application. Step 1.) Click on the link that has been provided to you by the retail site you purchased your audiobook from. This will direct you to where you can download the app. Step 2.) You will be presented with two options: Option 1 - If you haven t already downloaded the My Digital Downloader desktop app, please download it now FOR WINDOWS or FOR MAC Option 2 - Once you have downloaded the app, select download audiobook Select Option 1, this will start the application download process. Click FOR MAC Step 3.) You will then see the below screen, read the terms, then Accept and Install the software by clicking on Accept and Install in the right hand corner

2 The software will then install on your machine in a few minutes time, and you will get the My Digital Downloader logo appear in your applications folder in finder You are then ready, to begin downloading your audiobooks using the application.

3 Using My Digital Downloader Now that you have successfully downloaded My Digital Downloader, it is now time to use it. Step 1.) First you will need to click again, on the link which you were supplied by the retailer you purchased your audiobook from. You will be directed to the same page as when you downloaded the application. Step 2.) You will be presented with the same two options as before: Option 1 DOWNLOAD TO APP Option 2 DOWNLOAD TO DESKTOP As you have already downloaded the app and you now want to use it, select the first option. DOWNLOAD THE APP (Option 2, is for if people who don t want to use/ don t have the app, and decide that they want to manage their MP3 downloads themselves.) Step 3.) You will then see the below screen, where you will be asked to choose where on your computer your audio content will be saved. If you have no preference, just allow the application to use the default folder which it will select automatically. Once you have decided on a folder, (default or not) click on Select Folder

4 Step 4.) Then the My Digital Downloader application will launch, and your audiobook will start to download, chapter by chapter as can be seen in the image below: As can be seen in the image, the progress of the download of each chapter is shown as a percentage in a loading bar.

5 Step 5.) When you have successfully downloaded all of the chapters of the audiobook, the screen will display as below: Step 6.) Now, that we can see the audiobook has been successfully downloaded, there are two choices: Option 1 - Click on the cover image, which will bring you to the below screen: In this screen we are able to see the short description of the audiobook, as well as a list of the individual files. From here, click below the image where it says open folder and then we will see the downloaded audio files in Finder.

6 Or to listen to the audiobook, simply click on OPEN FOLDER and the files will open up into the folder that they have been downloaded to as we can see below: As we can see in the above image, from here you are able to play the audio files simply by clicking on them, and they will then be played your default audio player. Above we can see that the music is played, via a media player that is embedded in Finder.

7 Transferring your audiobooks from your MAC, to alternate devices Mac to Android Step 1.) Using a USB cable, plug your Android device into your MAC (If you are using a mobile phone, ensure that you select Connect as Media Device on your phone. Step 2.) The device will then automatically be opened up in a window as per below on the right hand side. (On the left hand side, we have open the location with the downloaded audio files are) Step 3.) You will then drag-and-drop the files from your computer, to the Android device you have connected. Click on the first file, then hold the Shift key, while pressing the appropriate arrow keys to highlight the files that you wish to transfer, then drag them across to your phone. Once transferred, you can then unplug your Android device and you will be ready to enjoy your audiobook.

8 MAC to ios Step 2.) Using a USB cable, plug your Apple device into your MAC and open itunes. Step 2.) Using the appropriate arrow keys select all applicable audio files, then drag and drop the files from the location they are saved in, (Finder) to itunes. N.B. Once you have done this, if your device is set up to synchronise automatically with itunes, the audiobooks files which you have just copied to itunes will start to transfer to your device automatically. 9 Step 3.) Your audio files which make up your audiobook, will then appear in itunes as below Using the arrow keys select the individual tracks, and then drag them across to your Apple device, which is displayed on the left hand side of itunes.

10 Your audiobook will then be copied onto your Apple device. N.B. Only audiobooks that are downloaded directly from the itunes Store will be saved in your audiobooks folder. Audiobooks purchased from 3 rd parties, will go into your music folder. This is because they are MP3 files, just like normal music files, and itunes recognises them as music. If you wish to separate them away from your music, we suggest that you simply create a playlist called Audiobooks or Audio Content.
