AvePint s Testing Plicy and Envirnment Supprt Supprted Hardware AvePint is cmmitted t maintaining a hardware agnstic platfrm t ensure that DcAve perates n cmmn Windws file sharing and virtualizatin platfrms. T ensure that DcAve is hardware agnstic, AvePint tests hardware that is intended t supprt SharePint and DcAve infrastructure, strage targets, and hardware-based backup and recvery slutins, as supprted by AvePint s partnerships. AvePint directly integrates with the fllwing platfrms: any Net Share, IBM Strwize Family, FTP, Amazn S3, AT&T Synaptic, Drpbx, Bx, Caring Strage, Del DX Strage, EMC Centra, HDS Hitachi Cntent Platfrm, Rackspace Clud Files, TSM, Netwrk File System, and Windws Azure Strage. All ther hardware platfrms that supprt UNC addressable strage devices are supprted. *Nte: Mst f the hardware partnerships referenced in this guide are intended t make use f advanced functinality (such as snapsht mirrring, BLOB snapshts, indexing, lng-term strage, WORM strage, etc.), and are nt indicatins that any changes t the prduct are required fr basic supprt. In mst cases, hardware can be supprted with n change t the prduct. Supprted Backup and Recvery DcAve supprts BLOB backup strage accrding t the list f hardware platfrms abve. BLOB snapsht functinally, hwever, is currently nly supprted n OEM versins and NetApp hardware. DcAve supprts SQL cntent and Applicatin database backups via the SharePint Vlume Shadw Cpy Service (VSS) n all Windws and SQL server platfrms listed abve. DcAve als supprts snapsht-based SharePint VSS n all hardware listed abve where the hardware partner has certified supprt with Micrsft. DcAve supprts applicatin and cnfiguratin server backups fr all the supprted sftware envirnments listed abve. DcAve 6 SP5 supprts VM backup via Hyper-V/VMWare fr the fllwing perating systems: Windws Server 2008 R2, Windws Server 2012, Windws Server 2012 R2, and Micrsft Hyper V Server 2012 R2. Cnfiguratin In rder t use Deplyment Manager, the DcAve 6 platfrm must be installed and cnfigured prperly n yur farm. Deplyment Manager will nt functin withut DcAve 6 present n the farm. 10

11 Agents SharePint Agents are respnsible fr running DcAve jbs and interacting with the SharePint bject mdel. DcAve must have ne agent installed n at least ne f the Web frnt-end (WFE) servers. DcAve Agents enable DcAve Manager t cmmunicate with the respective servers, allwing fr Deplyment Manager t functin prperly. *Nte: The use f system resurces n a server increases when the installed agent is perfrming actins. This may affect server perfrmance. Hwever, if the agent installed n the server is nt being used, the use f system resurces is very lw and, therefre, the effect n server perfrmance is negligible. Fr instructins n installing the DcAve Platfrm, DcAve Manager, and DcAve Agents, see the DcAve 6 Installatin Guide. Required Permissins T install and use Deplyment Manager prperly, ensure that the fllwing permissins are met. Deplyment Manager fr SharePint On-Premises T install and use Deplyment Manager prperly, ensure that the agent accunt has the fllwing permissins: 1. Lcal System Permissins: These permissins are autmatically cnfigured by DcAve during installatin. Refer t Lcal System Permissins fr a list f the permissins autmatically cnfigured upn installatin. 2. SharePint Permissins: These permissins must be manually cnfigured prir t using DcAve 6 Deplyment Manager they are nt autmatically cnfigured. User is a member f the Farm Administratrs grup. Since Administratr wrks acrss farms and n all SharePint settings and cnfiguratins, this accunt is needed in rder t prvide the best and mst cmplete quality f service. 13 Lcal System Permissins fr Agent Accunt The Agent accunt is n the machine that has netwrk cnnectin r has Agent Prxy Settings. This must be dne befre registering the SharePint Online site cllectins. DcAve autmatically cnfigures the Lcal System permissins during installatin. If there are n strict limitatins within yur rganizatin n the permissins that can be applied, yu can simply add the DcAve Agent Accunt t the lcal Administratrs grup t apply all f the required permissins. 14 Required Permissins fr the User Used t Register SharePint Online Site Cllectins The user that is used t perfrm the Deplyment Manager jb fr SharePint Online must have the fllwing permissins: User is a member f the Site Cllectin Administratr grup. User Prfile Service Applicatin: Fllw Peple and Edit Prfiles Use Tags and Ntes Managed Metadata Service: Term Stre Administratr Apps: Read permissin t the library Apps fr SharePint in Catalg Site. *Nte: T deply SharePint Online bjects, the Add and Custmize Pages permissin is required. Yu must select Allw users t run custm script n persnal sites and Allw users t run custm script n self-service created sites in SharePint admin center > settings > Custm Script t enable the Add and Custmize Pages permissin n the Site Cllectin Administratr and Glbal Administratr. Nte that the setting changes will take effect in 24 hurs. 14

15 Getting Started Refer t the sectins belw fr imprtant infrmatin n getting started with Deplyment Manager. Launching Deplyment Manager T launch Deplyment Manager and access its functinality, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. Lg in t DcAve. If yu are already in the sftware, click the DcAve tab. 2. Frm the DcAve tab, click Administratin t view the Administratin mdules. 3. Click Deplyment Manager t launch this mdule. Figure 1: DcAve mdule launch windw. AvePint recmmends using Health Analyzer t check the prerequisites yu need t crrectly use DcAve Deplyment Manager. *Nte: Only users in the DcAve Administratrs grup can use Health Analyzer. *Nte: Fr the rule Agent Accunt Cannt be SharePint System Accunt, yu can ignre the result f this rule if yu are nt ging t deply apps n the specific Web applicatins. 16 Navigating DcAve DcAve mimics the lk and feel f many Windws prducts, making fr an intuitive and familiar wrking envirnment. While there are many windws, pp-up displays, and messages within DcAve prducts, they share similar features and are navigated in the same ways. Belw is a sample windw in DcAve. It features a familiar, dynamic ribbn, and a searchable, cntent list view. Figure 2: Navigating DcAve. 1. Ribbn Tabs Allws users t navigate t the DcAve Welcme page and within the active mdule. 2. Ribbn Panes Allws users t access the functinality f the active DcAve mdule. 3. Manage clumns ( ) Allws users t manage which clumns are displayed in the list. Click the manage clumns ( ) buttn, and then select the checkbx next t the clumn name in the drp-dwn list. 4. Hide the clumn ( ) Allws users t hide the selected clumn. 5. Search Allws users t search the List View pane fr a keywrd r phrase. Yu can select Search all pages r Search current page t define the search scpe. 16

18 Understanding Deplyment Manager When Deplyment Manager is launched, yu are redirected t the Hme tab where yu can manage plans, access the individual settings cntrl panels fr custmizing plans, and mnitr the status f currently running and scheduled plans. This is where yu can execute jbs, including slutins deplyment and retractin, cmparing tw selected ndes f the same SharePint bject level, deplying Web applicatins, Web frnt-end deplyment, and Shared Services deplyment. Deplyment manager is intended fr mving custmizatins and design changes thrugh their lifecycle n SharePint. A plan represents a cmplete set f custmizatins that can be mved and deplyed tgether. We recmmend using plans t track design changes crrespnding t the mvement f business slutins, such as custm pages, wrkflws, cntent types, r ther features as ne cmplete set. Each plan can have: Entire Web applicatins Design elements such as site templates Slutins and features Service applicatins: managed metadata Lcally deplyed assemblies and reference files: file system files, IIS settings, GAC, Custm Features, and SharePint Site Definitins, etc. Fr detailed infrmatin n what exactly is deplyed fr each element, refer t: Appendix C Supprted and Unsupprted Elements fr Web Applicatin Deplyment Appendix E Design Elements Deplyment Appendix F Web Frnt-End Deplyment Appendix G Slutin Deplyment Appendix H Managed Metadata Service Deplyment Deplyment Manager has Jb Mnitr integrated s that yu can check the status f deplyed plans withut leaving the Deplyment Manager interface. If Jb Mnitr is accessed within Deplyment Manager, it will display all f the Deplyment Manager jbs. T learn mre abut Jb Mnitr, see the DcAve 6 Jb Mnitr Reference Guide. Security Trimming can be used t limit the functinality in Deplyment Manager that a user can use. Fr details n using security trimming, refer t the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. 18

19 Deplyment Manager Interface In Deplyment Manager, yu will see the fllwing areas: 1. Tabs Switch between the tabs in Deplyment Manager. 2. Ribbn Tlbar where yu can perfrm certain actins t yur mappings and cnfigure related settings. 3. Surce Pane Here yu can navigate thrugh SharePint farm structures t find the bject yu wish t deply frm. 4. Destinatin Pane Here yu can navigate thrugh SharePint farm structures t find the desired nde t deply t. 5. Queue List f deplyment mappings awaiting executin. 6. Search fields Find the desired bject via keywrd. This is useful if yu knw what bject yu are lking fr but are nt certain where the cntent lives, r if yu have many multiple large envirnments, this can save yu sme time finding the desired bject. 20 Online vs. Offline Deplyment Fr the bjects under the Web applicatin level, Deplyment Manager allws yu t perfrm an nline deplyment. If the surce nde and the destinatin nde are able t cmmunicate with each ther, the slutins may be deplyed via nline deplyment. T perfrm an nline slutin deplyment, fllw the instructins under Creating a Deplyment Mapping. If the surce nde and the destinatin nde are unable t cmmunicate with each ther, slutins and design elements may still be deplyed via an ffline deplyment. Offline deplyment invlves exprting the slutins and design elements frm the surce nde t an Exprt Lcatin, and then imprting the slutins r design elements frm the Exprt Lcatin t the destinatin nde. T perfrm an ffline slutin deplyment, see the Offline Slutin Deplyment sectin f this guide. Fr the infrmatin n hw t cnfigure a Lgical Device, refer t DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. *Nte: When deplying a slutin, the surce slutin will be laded t the destinatin farm thrugh the SharePint API, and the SharePint timer jb will deply the slutin t the destinatin farm. DcAve will check the deplying status f the slutin in the backend and get the status frm the timer jb. If the time it takes t check the deplying status exceeds five minutes, the deplyment slutin jb will finish with exceptins due t perfrmance reasns. 21 Deplyment Mappings Creating a deplyment mapping is the first step t many f the cmmn uses f Deplyment Manager. It allws yu t: Quickly and easily perfrm a singular deplyment. This may be useful fr when a new site is created, and yu just wish t add a slutin r apply a template t it. Cnfigure multiple deplyments t run ne after anther. This may be useful if yu have multiple singular deplyments t perfrm. This way yu can create all f yur mappings during wrk hurs, and then execute the deplyments ff hurs. Cnfigure multiple deplyments and save as a plan, which allws yu t repeat the deplyment withut having t recreate the same mapping and recnfigure the same settings. This may be useful if yu wish t keep the Destinatin nde in sync with the Surce nde. Fr example, yu have a develpment envirnment, a testing envirnment, a QA envirnment, and/r multiple farms. Each time yu update the nde n the develpment envirnment, yu may wish t have the testing envirnment updated as well, then update the QA envirnment fr further testing. Yu may then wish t update all f yur farms nce the testing is finished. This way, rather than creating a new deplyment mapping each time, yu can just rerun the plans created fr each deplyment. Fr mre infrmatin, see the Creating a Deplyment Plan sectin f this guide. Creating a Deplyment Mapping T create a deplyment mapping, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. In the Surce pane, click n a farm t expand its bject tree. Cntinue clicking the relevant bjects until yu find the bject yu wish t deply frm. Select the surce bject. 2. In the Destinatin pane, click n a farm t expand its bject tree. Cntinue clicking the relevant bject until yu find the bject yu wish t deply t. Select the destinatin bject. 3. Click Add t Queue n the ribbn r n the lwer right crner f the page. The Add t Queue windw will pp up. Depending n the mapping yu are creating, sme f the fllwing settings may be cnfigured: *Nte: Deplyments can nly be mapped between a surce and destinatin that are using the same versin f SharePint. *Nte: If yu manually create a site cllectin under a FBA Web applicatin in the destinatin, after clicking Add t Queue, a pp-up windw will appear t let yu select the administratr f the site cllectin yu are abut t create. If the surce and destinatin have different templates, a warning message will appear t warn yu that deplyment may cause errrs. Click OK t cntinue, r click Cancel t return t the Surce and Destinatin selectin. 21

22 Rerder the Slutins If there are multiple slutins being deplyed, yu may cnfigure the rder that the slutins are deplyed in by selecting the desired place in the rder clumn. Cnflict Reslutin Chse Skip, Merge r Replace frm the Cntainer level cnflict reslutin drp-dwn menu. Check the Check lwer bjects checkbx t cnfigure cntent level cnflict reslutin. Chse Skip, Overwrite r Overwrite by Last Mdified Time frm the Cntent level cnflict reslutin drp-dwn menu. Fr infrmatin n what criteria Deplyment Manager checks t determine cnflicts, see Appendix B Cnflict Checks. Mappings If yu have mapping settings in Cntrl Panel, yu may chse t apply them t this deplyment mapping when adding t the Queue. Fr mre infrmatin n these mapping settings, see the Advanced Settings sectin f this guide. Filter Plicy A Filter Plicy allws yu t designate a specific bject r data within each SharePint level frm site cllectin dwn t item level. Surce Select a Filter Plicy frm the drp-dwn menu t filter the surce bject r data r select New Filter Plicy t create a new ne. Fr instructins n creating a Filter Plicy, see the Filter Plicy sectin f the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. Destinatin Select a Filter Plicy frm the drp-dwn menu t filter the destinatin bject r data r select New Filter Plicy t create a new ne. Fr instructins n creating a Filter Plicy, see the Filter Plicy sectin f the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. *Nte: A filter plicy can be selected fr the destinatin nly when yu deply the surce Site, List/library, Cntent Type Grup/Cntent type, Clumn grup/clumn t multiple destinatin sites r site cllectins, therwise the Destinatin drp-dwn menu will be greyed ut. *Nte: The filter plicy in the Destinatin drp-dwn menu nly filters at the site cllectin level and site level filter rules cnfigured in Filter Plicy. Lwer level bjects r data in the destinatin cannt be filtered even if the selected Filter Plicy cntains rules applicable t thse bjects. Surce Cntent Settings Select the surce cmpnents that yu want t deply t the destinatin: Include security Enable this ptin t deply user and/r grup permissins t the destinatin nde. Include user prfile Enable this ptin t deply a user prfile t the destinatin nde. Make sure that the selected destinatin s Web applicatin is cnnected t the User Prfile Service Applicatin befre yu select this ptin. 22

23 Include User Cntent Enable this ptin t deply the custmized cntent t the destinatin nde. Deplyment Manager des nt deply the custmized data. Fr example, the data in the Shared Dcuments will nt be deplyed. If yu want t deply the custmized data, select this ptin. Wrkflw Enable the Include wrkflw definitin ptin t als deply the definitin f existing surce wrkflws t the destinatin nde. Deply t Relative Lists and Sites Enable this ptin t synchrnize the surce cntent type t the destinatin. If yu have deplyed a cntent type frm the surce t the destinatin befre, with this ptin selected, the cntent type changes will be synchrnized t the destinatin after this deplyment jb. When this ptin is nt selected, the cntent type changes will nt be synchrnized t the destinatin cntent type that has already been used by lists r sites. Cnfiguratin If yu select a flder r an item in the surce and then select a flder in the destinatin, r if yu select a rt flder and select a list in the destinatin, this ptin appears. Chse hw t deal with the item dependent clumns and cntent types. Select Deply the item-dependent clumns and cntent types t maintain item integrity, and then select a cnflict reslutin methd fr these items clumns and cntent types frm the drp-dwn list: D nt deply the clumns and cntent types, r the crrespnding items Ignres the cnflicting clumns, cntent types, and the crrespnding items, and d nthing n the surce and destinatin nde. Overwrite the clumns and cntent types Overwrites the destinatin clumns and cntent types with the surce nde. Append the clumns and cntent types t destinatin Keeps the destinatin clumns and cntent types when there is a cnflict. By default, we will preserve the null value fr thse items. Web Cnfiguratin Settings This ptin appears when yu perfrm an IIS Site Files level deplyment. Yu can change the rder in which the deplyment mappings are executed by clicking the crrespnding drpdwn menu in the Order clumn f the Queue, then selecting the desired place in the Queue. T change the number f deplyment mappings displayed in the Queue, click the Shw rws drp-dwn menu beneath the Queue, then select the desired number f deplyment mappings t display. Deplyment Mapping Ntes Refer t the fllwing ntes fr creating a deplyment mapping: Deplyments can nly be mapped between a surce and destinatin that are using the same versin f SharePint. If yu manually create a site cllectin under a FBA Web applicatin in the destinatin, after clicking Add t Queue, a pp-up windw will appear t let yu select the administratr f the site cllectin yu are abut t create. If the surce and destinatin have different templates, a warning message will appear t warn yu that the deplyment may cause errrs. T create a deplyment plan, create deplyment mappings by repeating the steps in Creating a Deplyment Mapping. Each deplyment mapping yu cnfigure will appear in the queue. Yu can change the rder in which the deplyment mappings are executed by clicking the crrespnding drpdwn menu in the Order clumn f the queue, then selecting the desired place in the queue. Five deplyment mappings are shwn in the queue. T change the number f deplyment mappings displayed in the queue, click the Shw rws drp-dwn menu beneath the queue, then select the desired number f deplyment mappings t display. Cnfigure the fllwing settings: Plan Name Type in a Plan Name and an ptinal Descriptin. Backup Envirnment Befre Running Plan Enable this ptin t back up the destinatin envirnment befre running the plan. Yu must then select a strage plicy. Enabling this ptin allws yu t use the Rllback feature in Jb Mnitr. *Nte: The DcAve Agent must be installed n the machine where the SQL Server resides fr rlling back the Metadata Service deplyment jb. Schedule Selectin Chse if yu want t add a schedule. If yu select N Schedule, the plan is nt run n any schedule and must be initiated manually; If yu select Cnfigure the schedule myself t cnfigure a custmized schedule, and run the plan by schedule. Click Add Schedule and the Add Schedule windw pps up. Type Select the type f recurring schedule: By hur, By day, By week, r By mnth. 30

If yu select the type as By hur, By week, r By mnth, yu will have the ptin t check the Advanced checkbx t cnfigure mre settings fr the frequency. Start time Set up the time t start the plan and Time Zne can be changed under the Start time. Nte that the start time cannt be earlier than the current time. End after specified ccurrence(s) Select this ptin t stp the plan after specified ccurrences that yu cnfigure in the text bx. End by Set up the time t end the recurrence f plans and the Time Zne can be changed under End by. Click OK t save the settings. After cnfiguring the schedule fr this jb, click Calendar View t view the jb in a calendar view. *Nte: If the plan is added t a plan grup, the plan schedule will be managed by the grup schedule. The schedule settings defined here will take effect if the plan is executed independent f the plan grup r remved frm the grup. Ntificatin Chse the type f ntificatin and designate which DcAve user will receive the ntificatin reprt. Select a ntificatin prfile frm the drp-dwn list. Click View beside the drp-dwn list t view details f the ntificatin prfile, r click New Ntificatin Prfile. Fr infrmatin n creating a ntificatin prfile, see the DcAve 6 Cntrl Panel Reference Guide. Assciate Plan Grup Add the plan t ne r mre plan grups t manage multiple plans with cmmn settings. Select a plan grup frm the drp-dwn menu r click New Plan Grup. 33 Cnfiguring Restricted File System Files In rder t avid affecting the functin f the SharePint system after the File System Deplyment, Deplyment Manager als prvides a way t blck sme files, which will be restricted t deply frm the surce t the destinatin. T cnfigure restricted file system files, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. Select File System Cnfiguratin n the ribbn f the Settings grup. The File System Cnfiguratin windw appears. Click Clse t exit the windw. All f the Web frnt-end servers are displayed in this windw. 2. Select Cnfigure after the Web frnt-end n which the files that yu will cnfigure reside, r select the Web frnt-end, and then select Cnfigure n the ribbn f the File System Cnfiguratin windw. The Cnfigure interface appears. *Nte: Yu can als right click n the Web frnt-end server in the surce farm tree, and then click Cnfiguratin in the appeared menu t cnfigure the restricted files n the Web frnt-end server. 1. Cnfigure settings in the Cnfigure interface: Restricted File Type Enter the file extensins in the text bx. Use the semicln (;) as the separatr. The file types in the crrespnding Web frnt-end server will be restricted frm deplyment t the destinatin. Restricted Paths The file paths and the files cntained in thse paths will be restricted frm deplyment t the destinatin. Click Add t add mre paths. Click the delete ( ) buttn t delete the added path. 2. Click OK t save the settings. Click Clse t exit the Cnfigure interface and return t the File System Cnfiguratin windw withut saving any changes. 33

37 Uplading Queue Excel Files Once yu have finished cnfiguring the Queue file, refer t the fllwing steps t uplad the Excel file: 1. This brings yu back t the Hme tab t create a new deplyment mapping. Edit Edit the selected mapping. Yur selectins will appear in the Surce and Destinatin pane where yu can make changes t the mapping. Edit Mapping Settings Click Edit n the ribbn, and click Edit Mapping Settings in the drp-dwn menu r click Mapping Settings n the lwer-left crner f the screen. The Mapping Settings interface appears. Edit Mapping Surce and Destinatin Yu can directly edit the selected mapping s surce and the destinatin when yu access t the Queue Tls interface. Or yu can make edits after yu have edited the mapping settings. Once yu have finished editing the selected mapping s settings, the Edit Mapping Surce and Destinatin will be highlighted. Click Edit n the ribbn, and click Edit Mapping Surce and Destinatin frm the drp-dwn menu r click Edit Mapping Surce and Destinatin n the lwer-left f the screen. Delete Delete the selected mapping. A warning will pp-up cnfirming the deletin. Click OK t prceed with the deletin, r click Cancel t return t the Queue Tls tab withut deleting the mapping. Disable Disable the selected mapping in the plan. Disabled mappings will be skipped when the plan is run. Enable Enable the selected mapping in the plan. Create Cntainer In the Destinatin pane, enter the name f a new cntainer in the available field then click Create Cntainer. The Create Cntainer interface appears. Select the bject type then chse the categry fr the new list r library frm the drpdwn menu. Cancel Exit the Queue Tls interface. Edit Plan Settings Click t access t the Edit Plan Settings interface. Fr farm slutins, yu can perfrm the fllwing actins n any selected slutins: Details Review detailed infrmatin abut the selected slutins in a pp-up windw. In the Details pane, click n the tab t display infrmatin abut the crrespnding slutin. Click Retract n the ribbn t retract the slutin, r click Remve n the ribbn t remve the slutin. Retract In the Retract Slutins interface, chse the Web applicatin t retract each slutin. When yu have finished making yur selectins, click OK t retract the slutin, r Cancel t return t the Slutin Tls page. Retracted slutins remain in the Slutin Stre and may be redeplyed later. Remve Remve the slutins frm the Slutin Stre. Once a slutin has been remved, it cannt be redeplyed until it has been reinstalled t the Slutin Stre. Fr the user slutins, yu can perfrm the fllwing actins n any selected slutins: Activate Activate the slutin within the lcal farm. Deactivate Deactivate the slutin within the lcal farm. Hw t Find the Apps Nde If yu want t deply an app t the destinatin, yu must first select an app in the surce and then select a destinatin nde t create a mapping. T find the apps nde in the surce: 1. T cnfigure restricted file system files, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. Select File System Cnfiguratin n the ribbn f the Settings grup. The File System Cnfiguratin windw appears. Click Clse t exit the windw. All f the Web frnt-end servers are displayed in this windw. 2. Select Cnfigure after the Web frnt-end n which the files that yu will cnfigure reside, r select the Web frnt-end, and then select Cnfigure n the ribbn f the File System Cnfiguratin windw. The Cnfigure interface appears. *Nte: Yu can als right click n the Web frnt-end server in the surce farm tree, and then click Cnfiguratin in the appeared menu t cnfigure the restricted files n the Web frnt-end server. 3. Cnfigure settings in the Cnfigure interface: Restricted File Type Enter the file extensins in the text bx. Use the semicln (;) as the separatr. The file types in the crrespnding Web frnt-end server will be restricted frm deplyment t the destinatin. Restricted Paths The file paths and the files cntained in thse paths will be restricted frm deplyment t the destinatin. Click Add t add mre paths. Click the delete ( ) buttn t delete the added path. 4. Click OK t save the settings. Click Clse t exit the Cnfigure interface and return t the File System Cnfiguratin windw withut saving any changes. 44 App Tls App Tls allws yu t check the upgrade status f an app and upgrade the app. When yu select the Web Applicatin, Site Cllectin, Site and App level in the surce, the App Tls tab appears. Checking fr App Updates Refer t the fllwing steps t check whether the apps need t be updated: 1. Select a Web applicatin, site cllectin r site in which the apps will be checked. The App Tls tab appears. 2. Click the App Tls tab. The Check Update buttn appears n the ribbn. 3. Click Check Update n the ribbn. A message appears. Yu can select the Include apps that d nt need t be updated in the jb details checkbx t include the infrmatin f the apps that d nt need t be upgraded in the jb reprt. Then, click OK. *Nte: Yu can als click Add t Queue n the middle lwer interface t add the mapping t queue. Yu can add multiple mappings t queue and then click Check Update. 4. A message appears n the tp f the screen. Click the Jb Mnitr link in the message. 5. In Jb Mnitr, after the jb finishes, yu can select the jb, and then click View Details n the ribbn. The Details interface appears. 6. Select Queue in the interface. 7. Select the mapping yu want t view details fr and click View Details in the ribbn. 8. In the Jb Details interface, click the Details tab. If the value in the Update Status clumn is true, the app will need t be upgraded. If yu want t dwnlad the jb details, select the Jb Mnitr tab, then select the jb, and click Dwnlad n the ribbn. Select Dwnlad Jb Details frm the drp-dwn list and then save the Jb Details file. 46 Using Cmpare The cmpare feature allws yu t identify differences between the surce and the destinatin bject. This feature supprts: Web applicatins, Web frnt-end, farm slutins, and shared services. By using the cmpare feature, nce the differences are identified between the surce and destinatin, yu can select bjects frm either the surce r destinatin t be deplyed t the ther side that des nt have the same bject. In the Hme tab f Deplyment Manager, click Cmpare n the ribbn. Yu will be redirected t the Cmpare interface. Cmparing Online T cmpare bjects nline, cmplete the fllwing steps: 1. Under the Tree tab, within the Surce pane, click the farm name t expand its data tree, and gain access t its SharePint bjects. 2. Within the Destinatin pane, click the farm name t expand its data tree and gain access t its SharePint bjects. 3. Click Web Applicatins, Web Frnt End, r Shared Services t expand the data tree t the nde yu want t cmpare. Farm Slutins can be directly selected fr cmparing. 4. After selecting the ndes that yu want t cmpare, click Cmpare n the ribbn r n the left crner f the screen. A drp-dwn list appears. 5. Select Cmpare Online. Yu are redirected t a screen under the Cmparisn tab. The ndes yu selected under the Tree tab are displayed in the surce pane and destinatin pane. Expanding the data tree in the Surce pane will als expand the data tree in the Destinatin pane. If there is a difference between the Surce and Destinatin ndes n a certain bject level, the bjects will be highlighted in light range, and a checkbx will appear in frnt f the surce nde. When cmparing bjects in the Web applicatin level, and there are differences between the Surce and Destinatin ndes n the files/items level, Site Settings level, List Settings level and Apps level, an ellipsis buttn ( ) will appear after the surce nde. If yu click the ellipsis buttn ( ), a pp-up windw appears displaying the different cmpared elements. a. Check the checkbx in frnt f an bject t create a deplyment mapping. An arrw will appear between the Surce pane and the Destinatin pane after yu check the crrespnding checkbx. 46

47 If an bject exists in the surce tree, but des nt exist in the destinatin, a right arrw ( ) appears. In this case, the surce bject will deply t the destinatin. If an bject exists in the destinatin tree, but des nt exist in the surce, a left arrw ( ) appears. In this case, the destinatin bject will deply t the surce. If the cmpared surce and destinatin have the different bjects, a twway arrw ( ) appears. Yu can chse t deply bjects frm the surce t the destinatin r frm the destinatin t the surce by changing the arrw directin. b. Click Add t Queue n the ribbn t add this mapping t the queue. The Add t Queue windw will appear. Fr infrmatin n hw t cnfigure queue settings, see the Creating a Deplyment Mapping sectin f this guide. All f the mappings will be added t the queue in the Hme page. T run the jb directly, click Run in the ribbn r in the lwer right crner f the Hme page. Creating a Cmpare Plan Yu can create a cmpare plan t generate a cmparisn reprt that shws the differences between the surce and destinatin bjects under the Web Applicatins nde. *Nte: SharePint Online bjects d nt supprt the functin. Refer t the fllwing steps t create a cmpare plan: 1. Under the Tree tab, within the Surce pane, click the farm name t expand its data tree t shw its SharePint bjects. 2. Within the Destinatin pane, click the farm name t expand its data tree t shw its SharePint bjects. 3. Click Web Applicatins t expand the data tree t the nde yu want t cmpare. *Nte: T refresh an bject, right click the bject then click Refresh. *Nte: Fr sites, yu can right click and select Cpy URL t cpy the URL f this nde, r click Open in brwser t pen it. 4. After selecting the ndes, click Create Cmpare Plan n the ribbn, r click Cmpare n the left crner f the screen and then select Create Cmpare Plan frm the list that appears. 5. Click Add Schedule and the Add Schedule windw appears. Type Select the type f recurring schedule: By hur, By day, By week, r By mnth. Schedule Settings Set up the frequency fr the scheduled jb. If yu select the type as By hur, By week, r By mnth, yu can als select the Advanced checkbx t cnfigure mre settings fr the frequency. Fr mre infrmatin, see the Advanced Predefined Scheme Settings sectin belw. Range f Recurrence Specify when t start and end the running the recurring schedule. Start time Set up the time t start the plan under the Start time. Nte that the start time cannt be earlier than the current time. N end date Select this ptin t run the plan indefinitely r until yu stp the plan manually. End after specified ccurrence(s) Select this ptin t stp the plan after a specified number f ccurrences. End by Set up the time t end the plans. Click OK t save the settings. After cnfiguring the schedule fr this jb, click Calendar View t view the jb in a calendar view. *Nte: If the plan is added t a plan grup, the plan schedule will be managed by the grup schedule. Ntificatin Chse the type f ntificatin and designate which DcAve user(s) will receive the ntificatin reprt. Select a ntificatin prfile frm the drp-dwn list. Using Pattern Subscriptin Select a pattern, and then click Pattern Subscriptin. The Pattern Subscriptin interface appears. The destinatin URLs that have been deplyed with any versin f the pattern are displayed in this interface. Yu can view the deplyed pattern surce s versin and Deply Date after the URL. 65

67 Advanced Settings Fr advanced users, Deplyment Manager ffers these additinal settings that can be cnfigured and saved t run as part f mre cmplex plans: Dmain Mapping is used t replace a surce dmain name with a dmain name in the destinatin. The user in the surce grup will be mapped t the destinatin user which has the same name. User Mapping is beneficial fr migrating grups f users frm ne dmain t anther and fr migrating an individual user s cntent and permissins t anther user. Language Mapping allws yu t set a different language fr the destinatin than the language used in the surce. By creating a rule fr Language Mapping, yu can apply these rules withut having t recreate them each time. Exprt Lcatin allws yu t cnfigure lcatins n external system strage that yu want Deplyment Manager t exprt data. By cnfiguring external system strage, yu can als exprt design elements t the file system. This is useful in cases where tw farms are unable t cmmunicate with each ther. Yu can use exprt lcatins t perfrm ffline deplyments whereby yu deply frm an external device.
