Yu can rganize pages int grups. Previusly, the first page f each grup was numbered 1. Nw, pages are numbered sequentially acrss a.ntebk file. 2

Yu can brwse and dwnlad cntent frm the SMART Exchange website by clicking the new SMART Exchange buttn. Yu can cntribute yur wn cntent t the SMART Exchange website thrugh the new File > Share n SMART Exchange ptin. Yu can reduce pictures file size withut nticeably reducing their quality. As a result, yur.ntebk file sizes will be smaller and the files will pen and run mre quickly. SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 includes several enhancements t multituch gesture supprt: Using multituch gestures with SMART Ntebk Math Tls bjects Rtating an bject arund its crners in additin t arund its center Resizing an bject n its crners r side in additin t n its center Displaying a message when yu re zming in n r ut f a page using multituch gestures Displaying a message when yu re navigating pages using multituch gestures Yu can clear digital ink bjects frm a page while retaining all ther bjects using the new Edit > Clear Ink frm Page ptin. SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 intrduces an imprved SMART Dcument Camera windw. SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 adpts the new SMART Help frmat, first intrduced in SMART Sync 2010 sftware. In additin, a versin f the Help is available that yu can view n yur smart phne r ther mbile device. Windws perating systems When yu imprt cntent t a.ntebk file using SMART Ntebk Dcument Writer, a dialg bx appears, giving yu the ptin t imprt the cntent as pictures r as editable bjects. Yu can insert 3D mdels in.ntebk files. If yu have a SMART Dcument Camera 330 and a mixed reality cube, yu can manipulate 3D mdels in yur.ntebk files with the cube. The SMART Language Setup utility has a new, easier-t-use interface. 3

4 SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 fr Windws and Mac cmputers SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 supprts handwriting recgnitin in the fllwing additinal languages: Albanian Macednian Basque Malay Catalan Mari Cratian Rmanian Estnian Serbian Gaelic (Ireland) Slvak Gaelic (Sctland) Slvenian Galician Swahili Icelandic Ukrainian Latvian Welsh Lithuanian SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 returns the NtebkDwnladPlugin fr Internet Explrer Internet brwser and intrduces a 64-bit versin. (This plug-in was previusly remved in SMART Ntebk sftware 10.7.) This plug-in mnitrs clicking f links t.ntebk files and displays a dialg bx prmpting yu t either dwnlad r pen the files in SMART Ntebk sftware. Withut this plug-in, Internet Explrer can incrrectly dwnlad.ntebk files as.zip files. Mac OS X perating system sftware The Aut-hide check bx allws yu t hide the Page Srter and ther tabs when yu aren t using them. Using Transparent Backgrund mde, yu can view the desktp and windws behind the SMART Ntebk sftware windw and cntinue t interact with the pen, transparent file. Reslved issues General Animated GIF images wrk as expected. If yu lck an animated bject, the bject s lck icn and bunding bx n lnger appear when the bject s animatin plays. If yu create a pull tab bject cntaining a Gallery item and place it n the left side f the page, the Gallery item displays crrectly when yu drag the pull tab t the middle f the page. If yu flip a line bject, grup it with ther bjects, and then resize the grup, the line bject remains flipped. 4

Yu can insert irregular plygns ver backgrund images frm the Gallery withut issues. SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 reslves issues with the Htspts interactive Gallery item. SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 reslves an issue that prevented yu frm activating the sftware with a prper prduct key after an upgrade. Yu can capture a dcument that cntains OpenType fnts using the SMART Ntebk Dcument Writer feature. Mac OS X perating system sftware If yu write multiple ntes in digital ink, select them, and then select Recgnize All, SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 recgnizes and cnverts all f the handwritten ntes t text. Yu can Cntrl-click when using SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 n a SMART Bard D600 series interactive whitebard withut issues. Knwn issues General If yu attempt t press ne f the buttns in the Image Optimizatin dialg bx with a pen, an Ink Layer appears. T prevent this frm happening, place the pen in the pen tray and press the buttns with yu finger. Mving Adbe Flash Player bjects in and ut f table cells causes unexpected behavir. Windws perating systems Inserting a large image file as a file fr a table and then using the ptimizatin feature t reduce the image s file size can cause SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 t stp respnding. Yu can n lnger change a table cell s fnt by right-clicking it. T change a table cell s fnt, yu must duble-click it and use the Fnts tlbar. If yu pen the Screen Capture tlbar r calculatr while in Dual-User mde n a SMART Bard D600 series interactive whitebard, SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 exits Dual-User mde. Cpying and pasting cntent between SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 and Micrsft Office can prduce unexpected results depending n the versin f Office yu re using. When yu imprt cntent t a.ntebk file using SMART Ntebk Dcument Writer, nt all bjects are represented crrectly. Use the ptin t imprt as pictures as an alternative. 5

6 SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 fr Windws and Mac cmputers When cpying and pasting r dragging and drpping cntent frm Internet Explrer Internet brwser t a.ntebk file, bjects might nt appear as expected. Earlier versins f SMART Ntebk sftware dn t supprt.ntebk files with 3D cntent. 3D scenes dn t supprt multituch gestures. Yu re unable t und r red disguising f 3D mdels. Displaying 3D mdels in Transparent Backgrund mde isn t recmmended. If SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 is running n yur cmputer and yu have a file pen cntaining 3D cntent, the sftware stps respnding when yu cnnect yur cmputer t an interactive whitebard r t a secnd display and then extend yur cmputer s display t the interactive whitebard r t the secnd display. The same issue arises if yu switch frm tw displays t ne display r if yu pen a file cntaining 3D cntent after extending yur cmputer s display. T prevent this issue frm ccurring, extend yur cmputer s display befre yu start SMART Ntebk sftware. Mac OS X perating system sftware SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 desn t fully supprt Mac OS X 10.7 (Lin) perating system sftware. Quickly dragging an Adbe Flash Player bject frm ne page t anther page in Dual Page mde causes SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 t stp respnding. When an issue causes SMART Ntebk sftware 10.8 t stp respnding, the crash reprt desn t cntain infrmatin n the issue. Hwever, the crash reprt is still available. If yur cmputer has less than 3 GB f RAM and yu attempt t reduce a large picture (ver 60 megapixels) using the Image Optimizatin feature, SMART Ntebk sftware can clse unexpectedly r the picture might nt appear.
