1 Installing Service Pack Updater Archive for CodeWarrior Tools (Windows and Linux) Quick Start SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Hardware Operating System Disk Space Windows OS: PC with 1 GHz Intel Pentium compatible processor Linux OS: 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium class processor (or better) 2GB of RAM CD-ROM drive Enabled USB port Depending on host-target connection: Parallel Port, 9-pin Serial Port, or USB Port Microsoft Windows XP 32-bit and 64-bit (Professional Edition), Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit (Home Premium Edition and Business Edition), or Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit (Home Premium Edition and Professional Edition) Red Hat Enterprise Edition GB total 400MB on Windows system disk This Quick Start explains how to install service pack updater archive for your CodeWarrior software running on the Windows or Linux platform. Support for new devices can be added to CodeWarrior software directly from the Internet or from a downloaded archive. To install a service pack for your CodeWarrior tool, you need to perform these steps. 1. Add the software site where the service pack is available or the downloaded service pack archive to the list of the available software in your CodeWarrior tool. 2. Install the service pack dependencies. 3. Install the service pack. 1
2 Section A: Add Service Pack Archive to Available Software List Online Mode If your computer is connected to Internet, you can install the service pack directly from the software site where the service pack is available. 1. Open the CodeWarrior IDE. If your CodeWarrior software is running on Linux, start the IDE as the root user. Before proceeding to Step 2 ensure that all open perspectives are closed. 2. To close all perspectives, select Window > Close All Perspectives from the CodeWarrior IDE menu bar. Close All Perspectives 3. Select Help > Install New Software from the CodeWarrior IDE menu bar. The Install dialog box appears. 4. From the Work with drop-down list, select the software site where the service pack you wish to install is available. If the required software site is not available in the Work with drop- 2
3 down list, add the web site to the list of the available software sites. \ a. Click Add. The Add Site dialog box appears. b. In the Name text box, specify the name of the software site you want to add, such as FSL MCU Updater Archive. c. In the Location text box, specify the web site address. d. Click OK. e. Clear the Contact all update sites during install to find required software checkbox. Install Dialog Box The list of the available software on the selected web site appears in the Install dialog box. 3
4 List of Available Software Offline Mode If your computer is not connected to Internet and you want to install the service pack either from a downloaded archive, USB drive, or DVD, add the archive to the list of the available software sites. 1. Open the CodeWarrior IDE. If your CodeWarrior software is running on Linux, start the IDE as the root user. Before proceeding to Step 2 ensure that all open perspectives are closed. 2. To close all perspectives, select Window > Close All Perspectives from the CodeWarrior IDE menu bar. 4
5 Close All Perspectives 3. Select Help > Install New Software from the CodeWarrior IDE menu bar. The Install dialog box appears. 4. Click Add. The Add Site dialog box appears. 5. In the Name text box, specify a name for the service pack archive you want to add, such as FSL MCU Updater Archive. Add Site Dialog Box 6. Click Archive. 7. Browse to the location of the service pack archive you have downloaded. 5
6 . 8. Click Open. The Location text box in the Add Site dialog box populates with the selected path. Add Site Dialog Box Location Text Box 9. Click OK. The list of the available software in the selected service pack appears in the Install dialog box. Service Pack Archive Contents Section B: Install Service Pack Dependencies Before installing the service pack, you need to install the service pack dependencies. 1. Select Help > Install New Software from the CodeWarrior IDE menu bar. The Install dialog box with the Available Software page appears. 2. Select the software site or service pack archive you have added from 6
7 the Work with drop-down list. 3. From the Work with drop-down list, highlight the service pack you want to install, for example the CW MCU v10.1 Update. 4. Check the details of the service pack in the Details section. Service Pack Details 5. As per the details shown in the Details section, select the software dependencies for the service pack you want to install. For example, on Linux, MCU 10.1 Update requires prior installation of CodeWarrior Core IDE and MCU External Wizard Data. So for CW MCU10.1 Update, select CodeWarrior Core IDE and MCU External Wizard Data. 6. Click Next. The Install Details page appears. Install Details Page 7. Click Next. The Review Licenses page appears. 7
8 8. Accept the terms of license agreement. 9. Click Finish. The installation of the service pack dependencies begins. A warning message may appear about the unsigned content. This is a known issue that will be fixed in the upcoming releases. Security Warning 10. Click OK. A message box appears asking for your permission to restart the CodeWarrior Development Studio. 11. Click Yes. If the CodeWarrior software is not restarted, new plug-ins will not be registered. The CodeWarrior software restarts and the Workspace Launcher dialog box appears. For Linux, if the CodeWarrior software does not restart automatically after a successful update operation, run /cwide with -clean option. 12. Specify the required workspace and click OK. Section C: Install Service Pack Before proceeding, ensure that all open perspectives are closed. 1. To close all perspectives, select Window > Close All Perspectives 8
9 from the CodeWarrior IDE menu bar. Close All Perspectives 2. Select Help > Install New Software from the CodeWarrior IDE menu bar. The Install dialog box with the Available Software page appears. 3. Select the software site or service pack archive you have added from the Work with drop-down list. 4. Select the service pack you want to install, for example the CW MCU 10.1 Update. Select MCU Service Pack for CW MCUv10.1 Update 5. Click Next. The Install Details page appears with the list of items to be installed. 6. Click Finish. 9
10 The installation begins and a warning message appears. 7. Click OK to close the warning message and continue with the installation. A message box appears asking for your permission to restart the CodeWarrior Development Studio. 8. Click Yes and restart the CodeWarrior software for changes to take effect. For Linux, if the CodeWarrior software does not restart automatically after a successful update operation run /cwide with -clean option. 9. Specify the workspace in the Workspace Launcher dialog box and click OK. 10. Open the New Bareboard Project wizard and browse to the Devices page to verify the installation of the MCU v10.1 Update. Verify Installation of Service Pack 10
