1-2 Overview Setup DOK-CONTRL-SETUP***V22-AW02-DE-P

Setup Firmware Management Firmware Management 2.1 General Rexroth Indramat control unit components are equipped with electrically erasable flash memories. Replacing EPROM chips is not necessary to install or update the firmware. Instead, the firmware is simply loaded via the PC. Note: This functionality only exists for Indramat controller components. Other device components, such as field bus interfaces or drive amplifiers, cannot be controlled via this function. 2.2 Before Installing/Updating Firmware Management supports the following control systems: ISP200 MTA200 MTC200 TRANS200 Firmware programming is not a part of the setup program. This function can only be reached via the setup menu after the interface has been completely installed. Note: Before loading the firmware, user data must be saved since they will be overwritten. 2.3 Starting Firmware Programming Logging in as Supervisor Firmware programming is a menu item of the setup. The Setup menu is called in the Start Setup menu item of the main menu. When the Firmware Management is started for the first time you must log in as supervisor. The default password must be changed immediately. The default access data are as follows: User: Supervisor Password: 123 Note: Please note that the user information is case-sensitive! After the Firmware Management function has been started, the following Firmware Management basic screen is displayed. The layout of the basic screen depends on the control system used:

2-2 Firmware Management Setup Basic screen of ISP200 Fig. 2-1: Firmware Management basic screen for ISP 200 Basic screen of MTA200 Fig. 2-2: Firmware Management basic screen for MTA200

Setup Firmware Management 2-3 Basic screen of MTC200 Fig. 2-3: Firmware Management basic screen for MTC200 Basic screen of TRANS200 Fig. 2-4: Firmware Management basic screen for TRANS200 Note: The following screen contents are an example for MTC200; in practice, however, the contents depend on the control system used.

2-4 Firmware Management Setup 2.4 Firmware Handling Firmware Selection Selecting individual firmware A device component can be selected with cursor up/down. With <F2> "File selection" or go to "Edit / Select firmware..." a firmware can be selected for this selected component in the menu bar. The file selection window "Select firmware" is opened. In the default setting, the firmware files for which the firmware download in the corresponding device component is allowed will be displayed. <TAB> allows you to move within the file selection window. Now one of the available files can be selected directly. The path to the firmware file can be entered directly in the File name field. Furthermore, it is possible to select a different directory for the firmware file instead of the standard firmware folder using the dialog box Find in with cursor up/down. By choosing this possibility, the firmware file will be copied automatically from the selected directory to the firmware folder during a subsequent download. The directory can be a disk or a network drive. Fig. 2-5: Selecting firmware If the default filter does not apply, the type "Allowed firmware files" can be deselected by opening the "File type" list field and selecting "All files" instead. In this case, however, there is the danger that unsuitable firmware is downloaded into the device component, which means that further firmware downloads or any communication with the device component are impossible.

Setup Firmware Management 2-5 IMPORTANT When the file type is set to "All Files", there is the danger of downloading an improper firmware file! Therefore, we recommend that you leave the setting on file type Valid firmware files. By repeating the selection, modules for several device components can be selected. After all settings are complete, the following list is displayed (example): Fig. 2-6: Firmware Management basic screen after selection Columns 1 and 2 display which device component of the device the firmware information refers to. Column 3 displays the ID of the firmware that is currently in the device component. Column 4 displays the selected firmware which is transferred to the device component when <F7>, i.e. Download, is pressed. Selecting the monitor The monitor is the part of the firmware on a device component which keeps the communication active during the normal firmware download. This part can also be exchanged. Note: The monitor should only be loaded as instructed by Rexroth Indramat service personnel. If a download is interrupted, for instance, by a power failure, the device component cannot be used any longer. It must be sent in for repair. To select a monitor file, the type "Allowed firmware files" is deselected with the "File type" list field and "Allowed monitor files" is selected instead. The selection process itself is identical with the selection of firmware.

2-6 Firmware Management Setup Cancelling the selection If incorrect firmware is selected by mistake, this firmware can be removed again with <F3> "Delete selection" from column 4 of the selection list (or via "Edit / Delete selection" in the menu bar). The "cancel selection" function always refers to the component selected. Selecting the Release Selecting individual firmware Using release selection <F4> or "Edit / Release Selection..." with the menu bar, it is possible to simply and easily select a set of compatible firmware for the device components of a device. With the information which is in a release file, matching firmware is assigned to every device component. With cursor up/down, any device component of the device for which a release selection has to be made can be selected. The release selection for the selected device is started with the function key <F4> Release selection. Fig. 2-7: Selecting the release The file selection window "Select release file" is opened. In the default setting, the release files which are allowed for the selected device are displayed. The area of effect of the release selection can be controlled with the selection field "Selection for". If the selection is made for the current device, firmware is assigned to only the device components of the current device. If the selection is chosen for the current device family, firmware is assigned to all device components of all devices which are of the same device family. Which devices belong to the same device family is defined by the release file and thus Rexroth Indramat. For example, the device family selection is advantageous if several devices which are the same are connected to the operating PC and are to be equipped with new firmware by release selection.

Setup Firmware Management 2-7 Fig. 2-8: Firmware Management basic screen after release selection Cancelling the selection Firmware which has been selected by release selection can be deleted from column 4 of the selection list with <F3> Delete selection in the same manner as firmware which is selected by firmware selection. If intended, a release can be transferred incompletely.

2-8 Firmware Management Setup Firmware Download Note: When a new firmware version is downloaded, all NC data or the PLC program may be deleted. Therefore, save all user data before starting the download. Starting the download The download of all components selected is started with the function key <F7> "Download" or with "Start Firmware / Download" in the menu bar. The progress of the download is displayed in a progress bar. Downloading can be terminated prematurely by pressing the Cancel button. After a cancellation, the device component remains in the monitor mode. However, the desired firmware can still be selected and then downloaded. Fig. 2-9: Downloading the firmware Firmware download when changing the version The execution of a firmware download can be critical especially during a version change of the firmware. The reason for this is the firmware comparison, with which the device components verify if the versions are identical. To avoid problems, we recommend that the firmware of the new version be selected by selecting the release and then starting the download. This procedure ensures that the versions of the device components be compared only after the firmware has been downloaded into every device component.

Setup Firmware Management 2-9 Downloading a monitor If the file type Valid monitor files has been selected from the firmware selection dialog, the monitor download mode is automatically activated during the download. The active monitor download mode is indicated by a different progress dialog which appears while the monitor is being downloaded. It warns against switching off the device of the operating PC during the download. As opposed to a normal firmware download, the monitor download can not be cancelled. Fig. 2-10: Downloading a monitor IMPORTANT During the monitor download, the destination device and the operating PC must not under any circumstance be switched off. If this occurs nevertheless, communication with the destination device is no longer possible. In this case, the Rexroth Indramat customer service must be notified.

2-10 Firmware Management Setup Download Status If the download of a Firmware fails, the download for this device component is canceled and the occurred error is saved temporarily as download status. Further device components of the same device will be skipped. The firmware download of the next device will then be executed. After the download is complete, the download status of a selected device component can be displayed by pressing function key <F6> "Download status" or via "Firmware / Download status" in the menu bar. Fig. 2-11: Download status In order to be able to determine at a glance for which device components the download failed, corresponding symbols are displayed at the beginning of each line. The following symbols describe the corresponding download status: The download last executed on this device component was successful. The download last executed on this device component failed.

Setup Firmware Management 2-11 Download status explanations: The download status can consist of the following entries: Entry Device Component Meaning You have requested the download status for a component of this device. You have selected the download status for this device. Current context You are currently in Firmware Handling. By pressing F5, you can switch to Service Handling. Status Error Error number Additional error text There are two types of status: Error during last download: This means that the last download failed. Last download successful / none executed This status is displayed if either no download to this component has occurred since Firmware Management was started or if the last download was successful. This is the actual error text. It describes why the last download to the current component failed. This entry appears only if the status is "Error during last download". The error number is used to numerically identify the error entry. This entry appears only if the status is "Error during last download". The additional error text explains the download error in more detail. In addition, notes regarding error elimination are provided. This entry appears only if the status is "Error during last download". Note: The download status of all components is initialized to the "Last download was successful" status when Firmware Management is started. Previous failed downloads are not covered.

2-12 Firmware Management Setup 2.5 Deleting the Memory If the device component is in an exceptional state due to a faulty main memory, the main memory can be reset to a defined basic state with "Delete memory". The "Delete memory" function can be found by switching to the next function key level using ">>" i.e. <F8> or by pressing function key <F5> "Delete memory". Alternatively, "Delete memory" can also be activated with "Delete firmware / memory" of the menu bar. Note: With the function delete memory all control data of the circuit board (e. g. program data, parameter data, tool data etc.) will be deleted. They must be transferred with different downloads of the user interface to the affected components to bring the controller to an operating state after deleting the memory. Fig. 2-12: Delete memory Before the memory is deleted, a safety prompt asks the user again if he really wants to delete the memory. Deletion is started after the user s confirmation.

Setup Firmware Management Service Handling The menu level of service handling can be reached by pressing the <F5> "Service handling" function key or with the "File / To service handling" of menu bar. The available functions are provided for creating a service file and are generally not relevant for the user. The service file contains information to support the manufacturer in finding the reasons for exceptional situations in the firmware. Selecting a Service File A device component can be selected with cursor up/down. With <F2> "File selection" or "Edit / Select service file..." in the menu bar, a service file can be selected in the service sub menu for this selected device component. Fig. 2-13: Selecting a service file The file selection window Save service file as is opened. Here, the desired file name of the service file must be entered. Any file name can be defined for the service file; the file extension is.ibd. More service files can be chosen by repeating the selection. After all requested service files are selected, the following (example) list is shown:

2-14 Firmware Management Setup Fig. 2-14: Service screen after selection Cancelling the selection If an incorrect service file is selected by mistake, this service file can be removed again with <F3> "Delete selection" or via "Edit / Delete selection" in the menu bar from column 4 of the selection list. 25 Setup User Management User Management 3.1 Basics User Management Operating Procedure Terms User Management ensures that only authorized personnel have access to protected functions (and program parts). Before a protected function is executed, the user must register with User management. To log in, the name and a password are entered. The name identifies and the password authorizes the user. In addition, it is possible to log in using a smartcard. After registration has been completed, User management will decide on the basis of the rights of the registering user whether the selected function may be executed or not. User Group Predefined groups Supervisor Rights Session Session expiration Within the framework of User Management, a user is a data record that is assigned to a person. A user is described by a series of attributes, such as a name, abbreviation and password, as well as rights that have been assigned to him by the supervisor. Within the framework of User Administration, a group is a data record that summarizes the shared rights of several users. A group is described by a name and abbreviation, as well as rights that have been assigned to it by the supervisor. All users that belong to a group have the rights of the group in addition to their individual rights. If different users should have the same rights, it would make sense to assign them to a group and to assign the corresponding rights to the group. Predefined groups are groups whose rights are preprogrammed. Predefined groups exist immediately after installation and can be neither modified nor deleted. The supervisor is a user who, as opposed to "normal" users, has the right, due to his identity, to execute all protected functions without limits. The supervisor manages users and groups, assigns rights and carries out administrative work. Rights are assigned to users and groups by the supervisor. They allow a user / the members of a group to execute certain protected functions. The user rights that are in effect during the runtime consist of individual rights, i.e. the rights that were directly assigned to the user by the supervisor, as well as the rights of the groups of which the user is a member. A session is the duration in which a user is logged onto User Management. The session begins when the user logs on. It terminates when the user logs off, another user logs on or when the expiration time of the session runs out. An individual expiration time for sessions can be set for every user. The expiration time of the session indicates how long a user remains logged

3-2 User Management Setup on after the last key press or mouse movement. The user is automatically logged off after the expiration time of the session runs out. Password expiration An individual expiration time for the password can be set for every user (this can be switched off). After this expiration time runs out, the user is requested to change his password. 3.2 Working with User Management Starting User Management User Management is started using the Setup menu. 1. Go to the main menu and select menu item "Start setup". The Setup menu is opened. SetupMenue_gr.bmp Fig. 3-1: Setup menu 2. In the Setup menu, select menu item "Start User Management". If this is not the case, you will be requested to log in before User Management starts.

Setup User Management 3-3 First Login After Installation During the first registration after installation, the password for the supervisor is determined. The identification data for the first registration are as follows: Name: "Supervisor" Password: "123" 1. Enter the data in the corresponding editing fields of the login dialog box. Due to data security reasons, the password is indicated only by a series of * when it is entered. DialogAnmeldenNachInstallation.bmp Fig. 3-2: Login after installation 2. After entering the login data, press the "OK" button. User Management now recognizes that you have logged in for the first time. Therefore, you are requested to replace the default password "123" with a personal password. MsgBoxErsteAnmeldung.bmp Fig. 3-3: Request to change the password 3. Press the "OK" button to open the dialog box for entering the new password. 4. Enter the new password in the "Password" and "Confirm password" editing fields. When the password and the password confirmation are entered, they are again displayed only as a series of *. Therefore, ensure that the password and the password confirmation agree exactly when you enter them (capitalization!).

3-4 User Management Setup DialogPasswortAendern.bmp Fig. 3-4: Changing the password 5. Confirm the entry with the "OK" button. Now you are logged into User Management as the supervisor. Note: Please remember the supervisor password. If you forget the supervisor password, you can no longer log in with supervisor rights! Immediately after installation, "Name+password" is set by default for the login procedure. "Smartcard" is available as another login procedure. As soon as you select the "Smartcard" login procedure, the "Smartcard Management" area is activated. In the Smartcard Management area, you can make settings that affect the operation of User Management in relation to smartcards and Smartcard Management. The entire Smartcards area is described in the next chapter. If the "Login standard user" checkbox is active, User Management attempts to login a default user immediately after the start and after each user logs out. User Management searches the user list for a user with the login name "default". If this user exists, he is logged in. 3.5 Standard User In certain cases, protected functions need to be used without a user having to log in. The supervisor must determine which protected functions may be used in this manner. For this purpose, set up a default user. User Management then determines that the default user is automatically logged in immediately after the program start and/or after another user logs out and that the default user s rights are in effect. Setting up a default user will be described step-by-step in this section.

3-12 User Management Setup Setting Up the Standard User The default user is differentiated from other "normal" users solely by his login name. The login name of the default user is always "default". 1. Press the "New user" F-key to create a new user. The User editor is opened. StandardbenutzerAnlegen_Editor_gr.bmp Fig. 3-11: Creating a default user 2. Enter the data for the default user as shown in the figure above. The login name must be "default". Ensure that the data are entered correctly. All the other fields can be selected as desired. 3. Confirm the entries with the "OK" button.

Setup User Management 3-13 Activating the Standard User The default user is activated in the Options dialog box. 1. Press the "Options" F-key. The Options dialog box opens. DialogOptions_NP_SU.bmp Fig. 3-12: Activating a default user Specifying the Rights of the Standard User 3.6 Global Functions 2. Activate the "Log on standard user" checkbox. 3. Click the OK button to confirm the settings and to exit the Options dialog box. 1. Select the "default" user in the user list. 2. Press the "Rights" F-key. The Rights editor opens. 3. Specify the rights of the default user. Certain important User Management functions can be started at any time using the desktop menu. The corresponding menu items are available under the "File" main menu item. Menue.bmp Fig. 3-13: Global User Management functions Log On User The "Log on user" function triggers the same logon mechanism as the selection of a protected function if no user is yet logged on.

3-14 User Management Setup Depending on the logon procedure that is currently set, a request to enter your name and password or to insert your smartcard into the smartcard terminal appears. After your logon data have been successfully checked, you are logged onto User Management. Log Off User The "Log off user" function results in an explicit logoff of the current user. Select this function after you have completed work in the system and want to ensure that any subsequent users cannot continue to work with your rights. The successful logoff is confirmed by displaying a message box. MsgBoxAbmeldungBestaetigung.bmp Fig. 3-14: Confirmation of logoff

Setup User Management 3-15 Change Password If the password is to be changed, first log onto the system using your current password. Then select the "Change password" menu item. DialogPasswortAendern2.bmp Fig. 3-15: Changing the password 1. Enter the new password in the "Password" and "Confirm password" editing fields. When the password and the password confirmation are entered, they are displayed only as a series of * for data security reasons. Therefore, ensure that the password and the password confirmation agree exactly when you enter them (capitalization!). 2. Confirm the entry with the "OK" button. The password has now been changed. Log On with Name and Password Log On with Reference and Key Code Select the "Log on with name and password" function if you have set another logon procedure (e.g. smartcard) and nevertheless want to log on with your name and password. The "Log on with reference and key code" function permits a user to log onto the system with supervisor rights. It is intended for emergencies, such as when the supervisor has forgotten his password or logging on is no longer possible for other reasons. As soon as you select the "Log on with reference and key code" function, a logon dialog box is opened. An eight-character reference code is displayed in the "Ref code" field.

3-16 User Management Setup DialogAnmeldungBackdoor.bmp Fig. 3-16: Logging on with reference and key code Send the reference code to the Rexroth Indramat Service department. The Rexroth Indramat Service department will inform you of a key code that matches your reference code. Enter the code in the "KeyCode" entry field and confirm the entry with the "OK" button. You are now logged on with supervisor rights. A key code functions only with the matching reference code. You are provided with a new reference code during every logon procedure. Therefore, old key codes can no longer be used. Note: After logging on with reference and key code, all functions are released as a rule (supervisor rights). Therefore, work especially carefully and log out of the system after the work is finished. 3.7 Utilizing Smartcards Activating the "Smartcard" Logon Procedure In the basic state immediately after installation, User Management works with the "Name+password" logon procedure. 1. In the Options dialog box, activate the "Smartcard" logon procedure 2. Press the "Options" F-key to open the Options dialog box. DialogOptionsSmartcardAktivieren.bmp Fig. 3-17: Activating the "Smartcard" logon procedure

Setup User Management 3-17 Using Smartcards 1. Select the "Smartcard" checkbox in the "Log on procedure" field. 2. Confirm the changes with the "OK" button. The Options dialog box is closed again. Starting now, User Management scans smartcards instead of requesting a name and password.. As previously described, the use of smartcards makes it unnecessary for users to log on by entering a name and password. 1. Insert the smartcard into the card terminal installed in the controller. User Management scans the information stored on the smartcard and ensures that the corresponding user is automatically logged on. If no user is logged on and there is no smartcard in the terminal when a protected function is called, you are requested to insert a smartcard. DialogSmartcardAnfordern.bmp Fig. 3-18: Smartcard request dialog box Three options are available: Insert the smartcard into the terminal. The dialog box then automatically closes and the corresponding user is logged on. Then the rights of this user are checked. If they are sufficient, the protected function is executed; otherwise, execution is refused. Click the Cancel button. The dialog box closes and the protected function is not called. Click the Standard button. The dialog box closes and the dialog box for logging on with name and password opens. You can log on by entering your name and password. 2. After completing work on the controller, remove the smartcard from the card terminal. The user who was logged on at this time remains logged on for now. He is logged off if the timeout for the current session expires or if another user logs on.

3-18 User Management Setup Special Options The User Management Options dialog box described earlier in this document provides a few options that especially affect operation with smartcards. These options are in the "Smartcard Management" area. This area is activated as soon as "Smartcard" is selected as the logon procedure. DialogOptionsSmartcardSpecial.bmp Fig. 3-19: "Smartcard" logon procedure Monitoring card release If this option field is activated, User Management checks whether a user s smartcard is released before the user can log on. This check uses release files that are generated by Smartcard Management software. For every released smartcard, Smartcard Management generates a release file that it stores in the release directory. Before a user logs on, User Management checks whether the corresponding release file exists. Only if this is the case is the smartcard released and the user logged on. If you deactivate the checkbox, a release check is not made. This means that the user will be logged on in any case. Check interval Since the release directory can be at any location within a network, it is impossible, due to performance and fail-safe reasons, to directly access the directory during each release check. Instead, the release directory is read in after a definable interval and the existing release files are locally mirrored. Therefore, the mirrored release files are accessed during the check. In the "Check interval" editing field, you can specify after which time intervals the release files should be updated. In practice, this is the idle time after which locking/unlocking of a smartcard goes into effect. Valid values lie between 1 and 999 minutes. Release directory In this editing field, enter the path to the release directory. Instead of direct entry, you can also search for the release directory in the directory tree. To do this, press the "Find" button. The Browsing dialog box is opened. You can now select the release directory here.

Setup Diagnostic Message Handling Diagnostic Message Handling 4.1 Introduction Diagnostic Message Handling covers the processing of Process messages System errors ProVi messages General errors Messages Start conditions Warnings Setup diagnosis messages IndraStep messages (running errors). 4.2 The Message Integrator Menu The Message Integrator dialog boxes that are integrated in the MTGUI enable the user to: modify process messages and system errors specified by the system with the relevant further information, add his own process messages, system errors, ProVi and IndraStep messages and link the further information with HTML documents. When Message Integrator is started from within the MTGUI, the Message Integrator menu appears with the following possible selections: System errors, Process messages, ProVi messages, IndraStep messages, MI language selection, Message file download, Exit message integrator.

4-2 Diagnostic Message Handling Setup MI-Menu_gr.bmp Fig. 4-1: Message Integrator menu 4.3 General Functions Functions of the Message List This section describes general functions that are available in all the message dialog boxes of Message Integrator. Editing messages Deleting messages Copying messages It is possible to edit individual cells (e.g. message numbers and texts, etc.) in the message dialog boxes by marking the desired cell and pressing the Enter key. The changes are accepted after editing by pressing the Enter key. Pressing the Esc key cancels the changes, i.e. the original contents are retained. The entry field is closed in both cases. Marked texts can be deleted using the Delete key. 1. Mark the group 2. Use Ctrl+C or 3. "Copy" in the "Edit" menu. The group is copied into the clipboard. 4. In the STRID or ID column, position the focus where the messages are to be pasted. 5. Use Ctrl+V or 6. select "Paste" in the "Edit" menu. Marking the complete message list If the message list has the focus, 1. mark the complete message list with 2. Ctrl+A

Setup Diagnostic Message Handling 4-3 or 3. select "Select all" in the "Edit" menu. Inserting a line break in further information 4. Inset a line break with the key combination Ctrl+Enter. Importing / Exporting Messages The entries "Import" and "Export" are available in the "File" menu of the message dialog boxes so that messages can be imported and exported. The CSV format was selected to simplify the data exchange with, for example, Microsoft Excel. In addition, this format permits the use of a text editor (e.g. Notepad) to adapt the messages. The special features of this import/export format will now be discussed using a sample CSV file. Example of a CSV file STRID,DE,EN 0,Meldung 0,Message 0 1,Meldung 1,Message 1 2,Meldung 2,Message 2... The first line contains information about the columns that were used in Message Integrator. The example uses both STRID and the languages German (DE) and English (EN). Due to this specification, the contents of the following lines are inserted into the corresponding columns in Message Integrator during an import; if DE and EN were switched in the example, the German texts would be imported into the English column and vice-versa. 4.4 System Errors 1. Select the "System Errors" entry. or 2. Click F2 "System Errors". Editing can be carried out in the Message Integrator menu. This opens the System fault dialog box (see the figure below). All configured devices are present in the Device selection field. The device that was created first is displayed. The associated system errors are displayed in the System Errors list. The list columns contain: STRID (string ID), a unique system error number, the system errors in the languages that have been set in the Message Integrator language selection, and the number of the further information that is linked to a STRID. The first system error column always contains the language currently set for the MTGUI. This is followed by the languages selected from the installed languages. 3.
