1 Flash Chapter 20 Drum Kit A. Setup to Trace Bitmap. Step 1. Click Window Menu > Other Panels > Common Libraries > Drumkit. Find drum kit.jpg in the list of symbols in the Library Window. Drag the file from the Library Window to the drawing area, Fig. 1. Close the Library Window. Right click frame 2 in the Timeline and click Insert Blank Keyframe from the menu. Step 5. Click the first Onion Skin Button located at bottom of the Timeline, Fig. 1. The bitmap drawing is faintly displayed. Fig. 1 Click the Zoom Tool in the toolbar. Click the Enlarger Tool in the tool options. Drag a zoom window around the left cymbal, Fig. 2. B. Save File As drumkit. Step 1. Click File Menu > Save As. 2 Step 5. Click the Free Transform Tool in the toolbar and click the oval to select it. Position the cursor just outside the bottom left corner handle and when the cursor changes to an arc with a arrow, rotate the oval, Fig 5. Drag a middle handle and flatten the oval. Repeat using the Oval, Free Transform Tools and draw the small oval in the center, Fig 6. Also, draw the right cymbal. Fig. 5 Fig. 6 D. Draw Drums. Step 1. Click the Zoom Tool in the toolbar. Drag a zoom window around the left drum. Click the Oval Tool in the toolbar and No Color Button. Fig. 7 Draw a oval for the drum face, Fig 7. Start in the top left corner of the cymbal and drag to the bottom right. Step 5. Use the Arrow Tool and click to select your oval. Click Edit Menu > Copy. Click Edit Menu > Paste in Place. Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard and drag the oval down and position it for the bottom of the drum, Fig 8. Fig. 8 Step 9. Turn the Snap on in the top toolbar (button depressed). Fig. 9 Step 10. Click the Line Tool in the toolbar. Step 11. Draw the lines between the ovals for the side of the drum, Fig 9. Step 12. Use the Arrow Tool and click to select the inside of the bottom oval and delete with the Delete key on the keyboard, Fig 10. Fig. 10 Step 13. Draw the other drums using the Oval and Line Tools. 3 E. Create a Gold Black Gradient for the Cymbals. Step 1. Click the Paint Bucket in the toolbar. Click the Fill Color Button to open the color pop-up menu. Click the white black radial gradient to use as a start in creating a new gradient (bottom row of the color pop-up menu), Fig. 11. Step 3vv. Click Window Menu > Design Panels > Color Mixer. Set the RGB fields to 236, 239 and 189 in the Mixer Panelgold color, Fig. 12. Close the Panel. Fig. 12 F. Fill Cymbals with Gradient. Step 1. Check the Fill Lock Tool at the bottom of the toolbar. It should be off (button not depress). Click both cymbals to fill with the gradient. Click the Fill Transform Tool in the toolbar. Step 5. Click a cymbal fill to display the Fill Transform handles. Drag the center handle to move the gold to the center of the cymbal, Fig. 13. Click the fill in the other cymbal and move the gold to the center. Fig. 13 G. Use a White Black Gradient for the Drums. Step 1. Click the Paint Bucket in the toolbar to turn off f the Fill Transform. Click the Fill Color Button to open the color popup menu. Click the white black radial gradient. Fill the sides of the drums with a white black radial gradient, Fig. 14. Use the Fill Transform Tool to move the center of the gradient to the top center of the drum, Fig. 14. 4 Step 5. Click the Paint Bucket in the toolbar to turn off the Fill Transform. Fill the small oval in the center of the cymbals (black) and fill the drum faces (white). H. Delete Frame 1. Step 1. This is very important. First, save your file. Use Ctrl-S. Don't delete the wrong frame. You want to delete frame 1. Right click frame 1 and click Remove Frames from the menu, Fig 15. Fig. 4 I. Import Sounds to Your Library. Step 1. View your Library. Click Window Menu > Library. Click Window Menu > Other Panels > Common Libraries > Drumkit. Click Kind at the top of the list of symbols to sort the list, Fig 16. Click the top sound file and Shift click the last sound file to select all the sound files, Fig 16. Drag the files from the Library to your Library Window. Fig. 16 Step 5. Close the Library Windows. J. Create Cymbal Left Symbol. Step 1. Click the Arrow Tool in the toolbar. Click Button for the Behavior and click OK. Step 5. Click Edit Symbols Button at the right end of the Timeline, then click cymbal left. 5 Click Modify Menu > Timeline > Convert to Keyframes. Click the Down keyframe in the Timeline, Fig. 19. Step 9. 6 K. Create Cymbal Right Symbol. Step 1. Click Scene 1 Button at the top left end of the Timeline to return to the scene. Click the Arrow Tool in the toolbar. Drag a selection around the cymbal right, Fig 23. Step 5. Click Modify Menu > Convert to Symbol. Key-in cymbal right for the Name in the Convert To Symbol Panel. Click Scene 1 Button at the top left end of the Timeline to return to the scene. Click the Arrow Tool in the toolbar. Drag a selection around the snare drum, Fig 28. Step 5. Click Modify Menu > Convert to Symbol. Key-in snare for the Name in the Convert To Symbol Panel. Click Button for the Behavior and click OK. Place the cursor over the Over frame of Layer 1 and drag across to the Hit frame to highlight the 3 frames. Click Modify Menu > Timeline > Convert to Keyframes. Click the Down keyframe in the Timeline to select all objects in the frame, Fig 29. Fig. 29 Step 10. Click the Down Arrow key on the keyboard five times to nudge the drum down, Fig 29. Step 11. Click the Pencil Tool in the toolbar. Step 12. Check the Pencil Mode in the toolbar options and the Smooth Mode modifier. Step 13. 8 Step 14. Click the Down keyframe in the Timeline. Step 15. Set the Sound: None to snare.wav in the Properties Panel. Step 16. Click Control Menu > Test Move. Step 17.
