4 Introduction This Control Program shall be used with Behringer Mixers models X32, X32 compact, X32 producer, X32 rack and X32 core + Midas Mixers M32, M32R and M32C. This control program allows: The Control of the Volume, Sources and Mute of each zone Defining up to six presets. Up to 16 Mono Zones can be created and controlled. Single zone paging, Group of zones paging, all zones paging. These options enables level selected lowering the volume of the played source ("Talk Over" / "Voice Over"). Emergency paging will mute all zones, both played audio and paging microphone. Control from central computer, wireless devices. Connection to a wall control panels, providing the control of each zone via RS-232 or any other type of controller via the right Hub (as Music Group 6000 series). Up to eight audio sources can be controlled. There are few options of implementing the program. It can be used with a Fader Mixer, one layer will serve the control and another layer enables the operation for Live Music or Lectures. It can be used with X32 Rack as very effective system where no live production is required, or with M32C/ X32 Core where central control from Office is needed. This Control Program can be implemented as a cost effective and powerful system in a variety of applications, to mention a few: -Large Restaurants / Pubs with have few Zones allowing even playing live music or events by using one layer of the mixer, while the other serves as control system. -Multi-purpose Halls where a preset can serve for Cinema (7.1), another for theatre, for PA and one preset for Lectures. Paging and Audio can be effectively controlled for service rooms, Lobby, Offices and so on. -Malls public areas. -Large shops. -Theme / Amusement Parks. -Hotels / Resorts Public Areas. 4
5 MBC-16Z Setup Minimum Requirements Computer minimum system requirements: o Operating system - Windows 7 (or a newer version of windows). o CPU speed 2 GHz. o RAM 2 GB. o Free Hard Disc space 20 MB. Wired or wireless router. Digital mixer- Behringer: X32 / X32 COMPACT / X32 PRODUCER / X32 RACK / X32 CORE. MIDAS: M32 / M32R / M32C. Installation Save the installation file in your computer, and extract it. It has two files, the control program and the initial definition. 1. Open the file "MBC-16Z setup.exe." 2. In the window opened click "YES" 3. Choose installation language and click "OK" 5
6 4. Click "Next" 5. In order to change the directory in which is installed, click "Browse" and select the directory in which you want to install MBC-16Z. Whether the directory was changed or not, click "Next" to continue. 6. By default MBC-16Z will appear in the "start" menu. If you don't want MBC-16Z to appear on start menu, then mark "Don't create a Start Menu folder". Either way, click "Next" 6
7 7. If you want to create a desktop icon for MBC-16Z then mark "Create a desktop icon". Click "Next" 7
8 8. To resume installation click "Install". 9. Wait until Installation is completed. 10. If you do not wish to activate MBC-16Z immediately then unmark "Launch MBC_16Z". Click "Finish" to finish the installation process. 8
9 Adjusting Mixer to MBC-16Z To apply MBC-16Z definitions to the mixer, follow these instructions. The default settings include 3 stereo audio sources, 2 stereo zones and 2 mono zones. 1. Save the file "X32 Basic 4 Zones.scn" in the directory you saved MBC-16Z on a discon-key. 2. Connect the disc-on-key to the mixer's USB plug. 3. Select "VIEW" in "SCENE" or "SCENE" (depending on the mixer). 4. Select "SCENES". 5. Select "UTILITY". 6. Select "USB Drive Import Scenes". The mixer will then show the saved files. 7. Select the file "X32 Basic 4 Zones.scn". The "Preset" will then turn blue. 8. Select "Import", and in the confirmation message select "YES". 9. Select the filename and select "Load". Mixer Definitions After PC is connected to router (for help connecting computer to router see router instruction manual), follow the instructions below: 1. Connect the mixer to router with a network cable (wireless connection might not work properly). 2. In the mixer, go to the 'SETUP' screen. 3. Go to 'NETWORK' tab (using the arrows). 4. If you know your network settings, configure the network addresses, and skip to Step 7. If you do not know your network settings, go to the mixer, on the left side of the mixer screen on the left down, there is a rubric named "DHCP". Click on the most left potentiometer (the one under the "DHCP"). The "DHCP" should turn orange. 5. The mixer will learn an available IP address from the router. 6. For the address not to change, click again on the leftmost potentiometer. The DHCP should turn black. 7. Write down the IP address, including the dots between the numbers. 8. Activate MBC-16Z. 9. Hold the SHIFT key and left click the logo.that should enable access to the "Settings" tab. 10. Go to "SETTINGS" tab. 11. Under the heading "mixer IP address" Change the address to the address appearing in the mixer under "IP ADDRESS" including the points noted in the page (which you wrote down in step 7). 12. Exit MBC-Z16 and open it again to apply settings. Zones Definitions 1. To access the settings tab hold SHIFT and left click the logo. 2. Go to the "SETTINGS" tab. 9
10 3. Under the subtitle "Zones", choose the required number of zones, and name them. Number of zones Zones' names 4. Click on 'Zones' button.. 5. Zones table will appear, with MIX BUS exits of the mixer in the lines of the table, and zone names in the columns. Select the MIX BUS exits required for each zone. In this example: MIX BUS 5 go to "Entrance Corridor" zone. MIX BUS 6 go to "Interior Corridor" zone. MIX BUS 7 go to "Kitchen" zone. MIX BUS 8 go to "Bar" zone. MIX BUS 9-10 (it's a stereo zone) go to "VIP room 1" zone. MIX BUS (it's a stereo zone) go to "VIP room 2" zone. 6. Click 'Apply', and wait until MBC-16Z finish saving the settings. 10

MBC-16Z automatically link stereo channels -Initial settings of the channels must be defined in the mixer (GAIN, PHANTOM 48V, Equalizer, and ETC). Paging microphone definitions, and groups of zones 1. To access the settings tab hold SHIFT and left click the logo. 2. Go to "SETTINGS" tab. 3. Click on "Microphone Settings". 4. Select the channel for which the paging microphone is connected. 12

Exit the "Microphone Settings" window. 7. Under the "Microphone Groups" headline, there are three columns representing the three group. Mark for each zone the paging groups you want it to be included in. Each zone could be included in more than one paging group. 8. To change group names, click on "Microphone Groups" and change the names. 9. Click 'Apply', and wait until MBC-16Z finish saving the settings. 10. Exit MBC-Z16 and open it again to apply settings. Note: Initial settings of the channel must be defined in the mixer (GAIN, PHANTOM 48V, Equalizer, and ETC). Activating MBC-16Z - Each activation of MBC-16Z must start with choosing a preset. 16 Settings Accessing the settings tab To access the "SETTINGS" tab, hold the SHIFT key and left click on the logo. 17 Definition of Mixer's IP After PC is connected to router (for help connecting computer to router see router instruction manual), follow the instructions below: 1. Connect the mixer to router with a network cable (wireless connection might not work properly). 2. In the mixer, go to the 'SETUP' screen. 3. Go to 'NETWORK' tab (using the arrows). 4. If you know your network settings, configure the network addresses, and skip to Step 7. If you do not know your network settings, go to the mixer, on the left side of the mixer screen on the left down, there is a rubric named "DHCP". Click on the most left potentiometer (the one under the "DHCP"). The "DHCP" should turn orange. 5. The mixer will learn an available IP address from the router. 6. For the address not to change, click again on the leftmost potentiometer. The DHCP should turn black. 7. Write down the IP address, including the dots between the numbers. 8. Activate MBC-16Z. 9. Click on 'Sources' button. 3. Sources table will appear, with Channel entries of the mixer in the lines of the table and source names in the columns. Choose the Channels for which the sources are connected. The Microphone Channel (see page 12) can't be chosen. 19

Choosing one source for all zones or one source for each zone This option allows you to switch between selecting one audio source to all zones in the "zones" tab and selecting an audio source for each zone in the "zones" tab. 1. Go to the "SETTINGS" tab. 2. Mark the "Channels Control Routing" to select one source for all zones. 3. Unmark the "Channels Control Routing" to select one source for all zones. 4. Click 'Apply', and wait until MBC-16Z finish saving the settings. 5. Exit MBC-Z16 and open it again to apply settings. 20
21 Change Language MBC-16Z Support two languages, Hebrew and English. 1. Go to the "SETTINGS" tab. 2. Click on "Change Language". 21
22 Paging MBC-16Z support paging to zones with a microphone connected to the mixer. Paging options: Paging each zone separately. Clicking on zone's name in the paging tab lowers the volume of that zone's current source and sound the paging microphone in that zone. Releasing the zone end paging and return the volume of the audio source back to normal. Paging to groups of zones. Clicking on group's name in the paging tab lower the volume of the audio sources in the zones of the group and sound the paging microphone in the zones of the group. Releasing the group end paging and return the volume of the audio sources in the group's zones back to normal. Paging to all of the zones. Clicking on "All" in the paging tab lowers the volume in all zones and sound the paging microphone in all of the zones. Releasing "All" end paging and return the volume in all zones back to normal. Emergency paging. Clicking on "Emergency" in the paging tab Mutes all zones and sound the paging microphone in all of the zones. Releasing "Emergency" end paging and return the volume in all zones back to normal. Display/Un-display PAGING tab 1. Go to "SETTINGS" tab. 2. Click on "Microphone Settings". 3. To un-display the "PAGING" tab unmark "Show Paging page". 4. To display the "PAGING" tab mark "Show Paging page". 5. Close "Microphone Settings" window. 6. Exit MBC-Z16 and open it again to apply settings. Paging microphone channel setting 1. Go to "SETTINGS" tab. 2. Click on "Microphone Settings". 3. Select the channel for which the paging microphone is connected. 4. Close "Microphone Settings" window, and click Apply. Notes: - The Microphone channel can't be selected by other sources. - Initial settings of the channel must be defined in the mixer (GAIN, PHANTOM 48V, Equalizer, and ETC). 22
23 Changing paging microphone volume 1. Go to "SETTINGS" tab. 2. Click on "Microphone Settings". 3. To change volume, click on the round button above the "Microphone Volume" title, and rotate it to the required volume. 4. Close "Microphone Settings" window, and click Apply. Note: If Microphone Volume is at maximum but still not strong enough, then increase the microphone channel's GAIN in the Mixer. Dimming audio sources during paging settings MBC-Z16 allows controlling the volume of other audio sources while paging. 1. Go to "SETTINGS" tab. 2. Click on "Microphone Settings". 3. To change volume, click on the round button above the "Dimming Level" title, and rotate it to the required volume. This will determine how low the volume of other audio sources will go during paging. 4. Close "Microphone Settings" window, and click Apply. Note: Emergency paging always mute all other audio sources. Microphone groups Up to three microphone groups could be created for the paging microphone. Each zone can be in more than one group. 1. Go to "SETTINGS" tab. 2. Under the "Microphone Groups" headline, there are three columns representing the three group. 3. Mark for each zone the paging groups you want it to be included in. Each zone could be included in more than one paging group. 4. Click 'Apply', and wait until MBC-16Z finish saving the settings. Naming Microphone Groups 1. Go to "SETTINGS" tab. 2. Click on "microphone groups". 3. Change the written names. 4. Close "Microphone Settings" window. 5. Click Apply. 23
24 Presets Presets allow saving settings such as volume, sources distribution to zones etc. and recalling them quickly. Up to six presets can be saved. Presets Display in "zones" tab Presets can be displayed in "zones" tab. 1. Go to the "presets" tab. 2. To display the presets in "zones" tab, mark "Show Presets". 3. To stop displaying the presets in "zones" tab, unmark "Show Presets" 4. Close MBC-16Z, and reopen it to apply changes. Saving presets 1. Go to "PRESETS" tab. 2. Click on the desired preset. 3. Adjust the mixer to the required definitions. Mute/unmute zones, sources choice for zones and volume of zones are the definitions that can be saved. 4. Click on "Record Now". Then click on "Update current status to preset". 5. After MBC-16Z finish recording the current definitions, click on "Save Scene". Note : In "Update current status to preset" the following data is saved for each zone: -Volume. -Audio source. -Muting. Renaming presets 1. Go to "PRESETS" tab. 2. Click on the desired preset. 3. Under the "Preset Name" headline type the required name. Clearing a preset 1. Go to "PRESETS" tab. 2. Click on the desired preset. 3. Click on "Clear Commands". 4. Click on "Save Scene". 24
25 Partial preset definition A preset can be used to change only several mixer settings, and not all of them. 1. Go to "PRESETS" tab. 2. Click on the desired preset. 3. Click on "Record Now". 4. Mark "Record one command from any type". 5. Make the required changes in the mixer. You should be able to see them recorded on the left side. 6. Click again on "Record Now". Now you can make changes that wouldn't be recorded. 7. Click on "Save Scene". You may continue recording and stop recording many times, when it is blue it will record changes you make and when it is gray it wouldn't. Remember! To save changes you must click on "Save Scene". 25
26 RS-232 Control MBC-16Z support control with RS232 protocol. MBC-16Z can route up to eight channels, increasing and decreasing volume in a zone, increasing and decreasing volume in multiple zones, muting zones and activating presets. MBC-16Z support control over up to sixteen zones. COM Port settings 1. Go to "RS232 Settings" tab. 2. Under the "Com Port" headline choose the required COM port. 3. Exit MBC-Z16 and open it again to apply settings. Volume control sensitivity settings 1. Go to "RS232 Settings" tab. 2. Under the "Volume Control Sensitivity" headline choose the required volume control sensitivity. RS-232 commands The RS232 commands are in ASCII format, BAUD rate Activating a preset Tx# x is the preset number. Changing volume in a zone Vxx+# - Increase volume in zone xx. Vxx-# - Decrease volume lower in zone xx. xx is the zone's number. It must be two digits, so zone 5 will actually be zone 05 for these purposes. Changing volume in multiple zones Vxx+,Vxx+,..# - Increase volume in these zones. Vxx-,Vxx-,..# Decrease volume in these zones. xx are the zones' numbers. They must be two digits, so zone 5 will actually be zone 05 for these purposes. For example: V01+,V03+,V04+# - Increases Volume in zones 1, 3 and 4. V01-,V06-,V08-# - Decreases Volume in zones 1, 6 and 8. (Volume increases and decreases can be mixed) 26
27 Zone muting Mxx# xx is the zone's number. It must be 2 digits, so zone 5 will actually be zone 05 for these purposes. Choosing audio source for a zone Sx_y#. x is the zone's number. It may be a single digit or two digits. y is the source number. It must be a single digit. For example: S1_1# - Audio source 1 to zone 1. S2_6# - Audio source 6 to zone 2. S10_7# - Audio source 7 to zone
