Word 2013 and 2010 for Seniors In this file you will find the differences between the Word 2013 and 2010 for Seniors book and the Word 2016 program. If you are using Windows 10, opening Word will work in a different way. This is also explained in this file. 1.1 Opening Word Page 20 + footstep 1 in Appendix A This is how you open the program Word 2016 In Windows 10: and then click the Word 2016 icon:. Or, if the icon is not present in the Start menu, you can do this: Type: word Page 21 The layout of Word 2016 is a bit different. For example, the upper bar is a darker color, and, in contrast, a selected bar will have a lighter color. Page 21 If you display the Quick Access toolbar below the ribbon, the button with frequently used commands appears to be gone. But it is just hard to see due to the background color. Place the pointer next to the last icon on the Quick Access toolbar, and the button will appear again.
2.10 Hyphens Page 55 The Page Layout tab is now called Layout Tips Page 66 This option is now called Manage document, instead of Versions : 5.17 Tips Page 150 and 151: You can no longer get illustrations through Office.com, so if you want to insert pictures with the Online Pictures function, you can only search for pictures in Bing Image. 7.5 Displaying Addresses Possibly, the address block in Word 2016 is not correctly displayed after you have clicked Preview Results. Then you need to add separate fields, as described in section 7.4 Inserting Separate Fields. Make sure the fields have been added in the same way as in the example below: Afterwards, the address block will be displayed in the correct way, after you have clicked Preview Results.
Appendix B Downloading the Practice Files Page. 302 If you are using Windows 10, this is how you download the practice files: Open Edge Open the web page Now you will see the website accompanying this book. You can download the practice files on the Practice files page: You will see the compressed (zipped) folder with the practice files. You need top copy this folder to the Documents folder: the folder At the bottom of the window you see a bar. The practice files will be copied to the computer: After a while, the download operation is finished: Now the practice files folder has been saved in the Downloads folder on the computer s hard disk, and this folder is now opened. This is a compressed (zipped) folder, which means that the files have been compressed in order to minimize their size.
You can extract (unzip) the files: If necessary, click the tab Create a new folder and call it Practice files Word: Type: Practice files Word Press
The new folder is selected: Now you extract the files. The files will be directly placed in the Documents folder. Uncheck the box by During the extraction operation you will see a small window:
The compressed folder is saved in the Downloads folder. This window is still open. You are going to delete the compressed folder: If necessary, click the folder the tab Close all the windows Now the practice files have been stored on your computer s hard disk.
