CompuDIM 2000 dimmers CompuDim2000, Compulite's intelligent, high-precision, digital dimming system is designed for DMX512 and/or Ethernet communication. Used with a Compulite computerized control system it offers a complete online reporting facility. The racks are designed to allow easy insertion and removal of the dimmer drawers and the control modules without the use of tools. There is convenient access to line, load, and control termination. The companion Dimmer Monitor software enables PC monitoring on a Windows based software for remote control and monitoring (see Dimmer Monitor documentation). CompuDim2000 Features DMX and Ethernet VC communication 3- phase power supply for the control electronics ensures control continuity in the event of a missing supply phase. 3 phase cooling system of low-noise, top mounted fans with computerized speed control Quick access to load and voltage data in the status default screen Real-time automatic dimmer error notification display and slot status report Patch and parameter setup wizards Testing intensity, fade, and flash per dimmer Backup looks (via Dimmer Monitor software) Bypass compatible Emergency panic switch Backlit LCD, 120 x 64 character graphic LCD display, showing screens, soft key functions, and rack status Text keyboard support 1

Compulite Overview Overview CompuDim2000 consists of: 2 dimmer rack control modules (DRC-96) 24 slots with up to 4 dimmers per slot regulating loads of up to 10Kw Figure 1: CompuDim 2000 dimmer rack No. Part No. Part 1 Top cable entry 6 Bottom cable entry 2 3 fans 7 Output terminal covers 2

It communicates with the consoles and controls the microprocessor located in each dimmer drawer. There is also bi-directional communication with PC running Dimmer Monitor software. A second (optional) DRC-96 control module may be installed in the dimmer rack. The second control module functions as a tracking backup to the main DRC-96. The tracking backup control takes over in the event of a main module failure. Note: If there are 2 control modules, the lower module is the main and the upper module is the backup. 18 CompuDim When an error occurs, the display automatically jumps to the relevant screen. The error Status screen is displayed with a skull and crossbones icon,, appearing in the slot where the errors are occurring; the slot number also flashes. When the errors have been resolved, the system returns to the Status default screen. No Load and Over Current errors alarms are shown on the LEDs on the slot panel. To view to an error report Press ENTER while standing on the flashing slot. The Slot # Status report is displayed. To return to the status screen Press OK. The display returns to the previous status screen. Tip! You can view errors for a specific slot in any menu by simply pressing on the menu key. Error types To jump to a selected slot You can jump from status screens to a menu for the selected slot pressing the menu s hard key. Example: The temperature status for slot 15 is displayed and you want to view the parameters for slot 15. Press PARAM and slot 15 parameters are displayed. Temperature error The maximum temperature for each dimmer is set in the Parameter wizard. When the slot temperature exceeds a dimmer s maximum temperature, that dimmer is shut down. Circuit breaker error The CB error status is displayed in the CB Status screen. Icons represent the circuit breaker status. 13

Compulite : Icon Error Error All dimmers CB (circuit breaker) ON Some dimmers CB (circuit breaker) ON and some dimmers CB OFF All dimmers CB (circuit breaker) OFF A circuit breaker error occurs if there is a: Short circuit Over current Manual disconnection Over current error Over current status is displayed in the Power status screen. Slot type 2.5Kw 5Kw 10Kw Default amperage 13A 25A 50A Maximum amperage is calculated by the measured amperage [M] minus the allowed amperage [A]. If [A] is greater than 0 an error occurs: [M - A > 0 = ERROR]. There is a safety margin of 10% amperes before the maximum amperes is reached. When this level is reached, you have 15 seconds to resolve the problem before the Power status screen is automatically displayed and the dimmer automatically fades to zero. If you chose to ignore the error, the system waits an additional 5 seconds and, if the error is not resolved, the dimmer fades to zero again. Bypass error For 5kW and 10kW dimmers only! The bypass switch overrides all other controls. The bypass switch takes precedence over a circuit breaker; if the bypass switch is active, the circuit breaker is ignored. 14

Patch menu CompuDim When the bypass switch is activated the dimmer is maintained at full intensity. When the bypass switch is turned off, the dimmer resumes normal operation, responding to console control or test operations. Bypass errors occur if: Bypass is turned off manually. Over current occurs and the internal bypass circuit breaker is automatically shut down. The Patch menu screen shows the patch schedule for 1 slot. Patch options are dependent on the Behavior Work mode setting: Normal - Any patch order is allowed. Simple - Only 1 to 1 patch order is allowed following the selected start address. Navigation and Display Use the arrow keys to navigate this screen. When the cursor is on a field it can be edited. Each input source is output according to HTP (Highest Takes Precedence) or MRG (Merge) formats. In MRG format the dimmer responds to the first input source transmitting any value including zero. Figure 11: Patch screen The soft key options in the Patch menu are: 15

Compulite Soft Key Function PRV Decrement the value in the selected field by 1. NXT Increment the value in the selected field by 1. WIZ ADDR STR Use the Patch wizard to assign consecutive ascending addresses to all the dimmers in the rack. Note: Standard patching is required for CMX dimmers. Use a standard patch which assigns ascending DMX addresses to each slot. The default space is calculated according to the slot having the most dimmers. CMX support. Store the patch. Patching methods Dimmers can be patched by: Manually editing individual dimmer s DMX addresses. Using the patch wizard in standard mode, setting consecutive DMX addresses from a selected offset. The patch wizard in non-standard mode, setting consecutive DMX addresses from a selected offset. The DMX offsets can be viewed in the Rack status screen. When the standard offset was used, the Rack status screen shows the offsets. When the non-standard offset was used, Non-Standard is displayed.
