Version is an update to the existing MimioStudio 8.0 software, which introduced the brush pen, shape recognition, freeform screen clipping, and the color picker tool. This release includes new features as well as enhancements and bug fixes related to usability, performance, and localization. page 2

3 New Features and Improvements Additional languages Mac 10.7 file import improvements Performance improvement Users can now run MimioStudio software in Catalan and Basque. These two new languages are listed under the MimioStudio Settings Language menu. Support for importing PowerPoint and Microsoft Word files on Mac Increased performance speed when loading and reading Notebook files. Problems Fixed Icons in Swedish Write Anywhere for XP Swedish desktop and Program Start Group icons are now displayed properly. Write Anywhere for XP is fixed. Special character handling Corrected delete feature in Gradebook in Simplified Chinese Notebook maintains the hyperlink to original page Japanese text fixed in Recorder window Capturing transparent windows Corrected the behavior for handling special and international characters inside MimioVote question templates. User can now delete a class or student when using MimioStudio Gradebook in Simplified Chinese. Text or objects that are hyperlinked to another MimioStudio Notebook page will remain linked to that page, even if other Notebook pages are added, moved, or deleted. The Recorder dialog windows properly display Japanese text. Markup and screen-clipping functionality is updated to allow users to capture transparent windows. page 3

4 Catch the Fly and Number Cop multimedia improvements Silent install with Microsoft SCCM Translation corrections Fixed unexpected behavior when using Catch the Fly and Number Cop multimedia objects in Notebook. Users can now use Microsoft SCCM tool to perform a silent install of MimioStudio Various translation errors have been corrected in Simplified Chinese, Hungarian, Japanese, and Swedish. Known Issues No support for text recognition in Basque Automatic audio/video playback limited support Inconsistent behavior with color picker tool No support for Mac 10.4 and PowerPC The text recognition feature does not support Basque language. MimioStudio will no longer support the automatic playback of any multimedia file. MimioStudio 8 will use the CODECS from multimedia programs that are already installed on the user s computer. For example, for Windows users with Windows Media Player, MimioStudio will automatically play a WMV file inside Notebook. Similarly, MimioStudio will automatically play MOV files for Mac users with the default QuickTime program installed. Linux does have a default media player for MimioStudio to leverage. Users will be alerted by a pop-up dialog box when playback is not possible. Inconsistent behavior occurs when using the color picker tool to select a color and/or change the color of a shape. Mac 10.4 and PowerPC are no longer supported in MimioStudio 8 and above. 5 Running anti-virus software could impact installation Must have administrative privileges to use auto-update No support for keyboard tools shortcut in Mac 10.6 Geography has been removed from the default gallery Installation of MimioStudio may be unsuccessful when anti-virus software is running. We recommend turning off anti-virus software while installing MimioStudio. Auto-update fails if the user does not have administrative privileges. MimioStudio will attempt to update and it will appear that the update has been successful. However, the software update will fail if administrative rights are not set. Shortcut keys to trigger keyboard tools are no longer supported in MimioStudio 8 on Mac 10.6 and above. Users can add the keyboard to the Mac menu bar by going into System Preferences Language and Text Input Sources tab and checking the Keyboard and Character Viewer input source. The icon to launch the keyboard viewer will appear on the menu bar. The Geography folder has been moved to mimioconnect.com to allow users to import to their Gallery according to their preferences. This impacts new MimioStudio users only. Existing users will continue to have the Geography folder in their default Gallery. page 5
